    Older kids

oh I miss those days .. mine are 23 and 20 and it doesn't get easier as they get even older! We do ALOT of dvds. Especially full seasons of their favorite shows.
  2. I stop buying for you if you cannot thank me for a gift. Either a quick email, text message or even a FB post. You can't be bothered to thank me, I won't be bothered to send a gift for the next occassion. Say something to me about it and I will politely tell you that I didn't send you another gift because I've been waiting for you to acknowledge the last gift I gave you. That's just plain rude. Since it's all about the thought of the gift and not the actual gift or amount of the gift itself, have you thought of making gifts this year? I do a green tomoato relish every few years and people love it. It's been a few years since I've made it ... so guess what everyone is getting this year from me. One year I found a way to make frames for their kids teenie tiny school photos to hang on their tree. Another year I did some of the mixes in a jar - brownie mixes, soup mixes .. it took me more time to make those gifts than to shop for one that isn't needed. You can't just totally stop - but you can scale back over the course of a few years. Just do a little less each year and a little less the next. Trust me it can be done.
  3. My 24 hour Walmart also lets you get whatever you want when you get to the store. You can't checkout until the item actually goes on sale. when I asked an employee about taking someone off the pallet that hadn't been unwrapped yet - she said store management decided they were not going to stop anyone from doing that. It wasn't worth it for them to cause havoc. I went to a different Walmart in another state last year and they did the pallet thing. They had 4 security guards standing over $1.00 dvds. It was a zoo and a nightmare and I would never go back to that Walmart ever. For anyone that says they don't like showing up at the store opening to get those doorbusters .. do you really thing you'd get those doorbusters if you showed up at the store opening anyway? As most lines start hours before the store opens .. they'd be gone when you got there if you waited that long. Just my two cents.
  4. Yeah I loved that Walmart did the in stock guarantee last year. I ended up with a better TV because they had oversold the ad ones. I sure hope they do that this year as I am looking for an inexpensive 32 in again this year. As long as you showed up during the times it was on sale you go the item.
  5. I make these all the time for myself! I use Splenda instead of sugar so that I don't feel guilty eating them.
  6. Living in NC .. where most of the trees are grown .. real here. I did a fake tree last year because we spent 2 weeks at Disney. I was the only one home, DD22 was away at college and DD19 was working at Disney. While it was nice and easy - it just wasn't the same.
  7. go for the one with the longest warranty. Be careful how big you buy. Airlines will charge you an extra fee if your luggage is more than 50 pounds. If he won't be checking luggage, make sure you get him one that is carry on size approved. Kohl's luggage at 30% off isn't that great of a deal IMHO.
  8. Their layaway commerical is cute this year!
  9. now is the time to pick up one from Target .. my DD swears it's better with two than just the one.
  10. I love my iPad mini I got last year at Walmart for $199 that came with a $100 gift card. The gift card was activated right away and turned around and bought my $99 TV with it
  11. There was a big stink a while back because our local paper advertises a year's worth of papers .. but then they start deducting for additional fees .. like the extra price for the paper that has all the BF ads, and the papers they give you on holidays, etc. so when they say a year's worth of papers - you actually only get about 48 weeks instead of the 52.
  12. dang .. that's a great price! I think I will see how it goes without a TV in my bedroom for a few months. Maybe I will sleep better.
  13. great .. this means less days to wait to replace my TV ... hoping I can get a deal close to what I got last BF .. 32" for 99.00 at Walmart.
  14. They are all about the same price. If you have someone who is truly on a budget .. tell them to watch Target when they start marking down college stuff. They normally only carry Twin XL for back to school - so everything if it lasts will go down. I was able to pick up Twin XL comforters last year for less than $5.00 If you need to buy them now - they are all priced pretty much the same. Don't waste your money on one of the thin ones.
  15. Thanks for the heads up on the index cards .. our Target did not have marked so I would have just passed them by!
  16. thank Thanks! I will head over there this week as body pillows are on sale this week too! I think you'll see better back to school deals in August.
  17. Keep an eye on the Staples ad. I think I remember them having them on sale last year.
  18. So far the best price I've seen is on Walmart.com. Pack of 100 for 1.00. I think I can do better! I remember picking them up last year for less than 50 cents a package.
  19. here's a 20% off Staples coupon which expires on Sunday. Check to see what you can't use it on in the fine print. http://easy.staples.com/pub/sf/FormLink?_ri_=X0Gzc2X%3DWQpglLjHJlYQGk7zgI7CzduH754sJa986cAUAnYCcGsySjBtsVXMtX%3DWQpglLjHJlYQGkBzaOIv79zfezd8zfXzezcU4RuSUinBc33gw7zcMs&_ei_=El4n_8ZoU3XjdfLiyhzOuqiyf3UFu9JudBOYCxjqJmFTxboXgoG8mb8N3Hf6lQYyFRin9DhO8oHb086fPjupx7meQ_RaGz4rednCXwQbxP3sY3sHnsu-xOGGzthuH5cBSkLcfLxPSsakqAHkjxn-Ic4B11BucBHeF-BonFOly6lMQt1GLw7FFqoJDNzgjUiGD6LX.
  20. I'd love to know when ruled, colored note cards are on sale. DD23 swears by them ... She can go thru hundreds in a semester. Plain white ones aren't as effective she claims. Thanks Freesia!
  21. ahhh .. memories of the MM juice packs .. good times ..
  22. Looks like you need to send them a receipt from a dry cleaners.
