  1. Here is their list "Mom & Dad Items Requested Gift Card to Wal-Mart to buy clothes for themselves Gift Card to Old Chicago General Items Requested Gift Cards for Gas - QuikStar & Kum-n-Go Gift Cards for Grocries – Hy-Vee" We pick this organization because they adopted us when our son was diagnosed and it was so helpful. They give you a long questionaire to fill out asking for each person's size, hobbies, taste, etc... I wondered if perhaps they didn't want to list their size, perhaps they were overweight. But there were lots and lots of places to list information and they have turned all that info on to me, so it must be all they answered. I'll still get them some gifts, and I do get that it is nice to be able to do your own shopping and when your child is sick with cancer, you really don't care about getting yourself anything, it is all about your children. I'll stop whining and try to just buy basics that anyone can use and really get wonderful gifts for the daughter. I am sure that is what they want anyways.
  2. It is from a children's cancer group, they are assigned to us. You don't get to choose who gets them and all families were mailed out to their gift givers today. Most families are adopted by companies. So, I can't go in tomorrow and say, can I have a different families who'd like GIFTS? I went through my gift closet/room today to see what I have that works, I am set to adopt an army, of the right people! I found some scenty soap/lotion sets from the Body Shop, some kids books, Build a Bear gift cards (remember that deal last year?) etc... but I have little 2T girls clothes. I don't mind that, I can go shop for that, but I don't have any generic male gifts etc... I'm thinking of asking them to contact the family and ask if there are any gifts they'd like, do they have a DVD player? (I have a lot of DVDs) etc... I'll make this work somehow, but they'd get a lot more value of gifts than they will in gift cards because I can't get them on good deals. This is much less fun. We are really really really cutting down on our purchases this year, so I was looking forward to shopping for this family as my one thing I got to go shopping for on Friday. I'm seriously considering not even going this year (I have most of our shopping done and we're moving in a few months so don't want to have it all in my house when I'm trying to sell it)
  3. Our family adopted a family for Christmas this year because in the past we have just adopted one person from like an angel tree (each kid would pick one) and then we'd worry they weren't all getting similar amounts etc... So this year we took a family. Well, the wish list is ALL gift certificates, plus some 2T/3T clothes for the child. WTH??? I don't want to just give them money, I want to shop! I want to get them way more for the money, this is like my addiction being used for greater good But if I have to just go buy them gift certificates, it won't work that way. So, poop. I am just here griping. It'd be nice to have some actual presents to buy instead, but I know nothing about them other than their gender, no age, hobbies, size etc... Just had to gripe...
  4. My neighbors house was on fire today. I was over there comforting her when this came through the email on my phone. I interupted her going "Oh GOOD!!!" and everyone stopped to see what I was talking about since the house just was on fire! LOL I felt a little sheepish to say I was happy to see what was on sale in 2 weeks! I'm not sure if I'll go to Target or not, really eyeing the red Nikon camera, mine is on its last legs and I love it (another Nikon) Will look into doing the price match, did it last year and it was SWEET!!!
  5. We bought the Samsung W/D last year, before BF by a few days at Lowes and on BF we took the ad in and they gave me the extra money back. They also offer a much better warranty option etc... We did have a trouble with it, the latch died, but it was repaired (under the original manufacturer's warranty) quickly. We're just starting to build a new house (haven't dug yet) and while I'd love to get our appliances now, I don't want to have to pick them up or store them yet. So I don't think I'll be buying things. I noticed many of their best sales this time on appliances are Kenmore so you can't price match them
  6. My boys 10, 7, and 4 LOVE funkeys. I got them the ones 75% off that they don't have. That is for Valentine's or Easter, haven't decided. I also found them in 2 packs at WalMart on clearance for $1 for the 2 pack! I bought 4 packs (that was the only designs)
  7. I did this and will be picking them up in the store. I didn't even look if you could ship them as I wanted them in person.
  8. We got it to work, but it keeps falling out. However, the reviews are good and we are stuck with it since we can't return it so we will try again. Hoping someone here has tips that I haven't thought of.
  9. Did any of you get these to work? I ordered 2 but have only used one. The adapter part comes out of the wii remote when in use, even if it clicks in place. I tried to replace it but was bought before Nov 25th, so didn't qualify for the extended holiday return time. We didn't open it until Christmas. I am another buyer who won't be returning to buy.com
  10. Just FYI, I got this set in advance at Lowes and had it delivered then price adjusted it for the BF price. So I have mine already. Anyways, I am really loving it but a few pointers... The dryer door can switch to open from either side, but the washer hinge is on the left. No changing it, so when getting the laundry room ready, keep that in mind. Also, we had the latch go out already on the washer door. It would NOT shut and therefor could not wash anything as the water would run out. This was TERRIBLE!!! But, it was covered by the manufacturer and they had a repair man out here right away. The part was faulty and they repaired it but also ordered (and a week later replaced it) to be sure it lasts. Samsung called several times to check on the status and our satisfaction. I was extremely pleased with this. I did buy an extended warranty from Lowes also but it didn't matter as this was covered by warranty anyways. But I LOVE this set!
  11. I don't know if this should go in here or its own category, but the Kitchenaid Mixer 6 qt is on sale for $399 plus $40 rebate plus free cookbook. Plus, 30% off brings it to $240. A good price. http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/kitchendining/kitchenelectrics/mixers/stand/PRD~124102/KitchenAid+Professional+600+Stand+Mixer.jsp I just bought one earlier this month and I have been having a lot of fun with it. The accessories are also on sale for a good price, but I haven't been able to talk myself into them yet. I know I could make my own baby food with it, but for the $90 for the accessory set I could buy a lot of baby food with no effort...
  12. Don't you know we carry that anyways? LOL I HATE taking the diaper bag with me anywhere as suddenly my dh and kids want me to carry all of their stuff in it. I have found that no matter what size of a purse I have, it is always full, so I carry a very small one.
  13. My kids all want these but DH and I think they look like a cult wearing them!
  14. Do you know if the Company Kids is a Upromise partner? Upromise website is being updated and I can't tell... I think I'll be murdered, but I can't resist the pirate sweater...
  15. I am in Iowa, but we had the same sign and I only got back the current clearance price. I was not pleased because I bought it at full price before the holiday. Imagine the gifts you give with a gift receipt, but they take it back and get 10% of what you paid for it now.
  16. Here's another good deal on these... The $50 rebate is over but they now have a $40 rebate plus a years subscription to a choice of magazines and a cookbook http://shopkitchenaid.com/promo62.asp
  17. Just an FYI... I got the Axle style on crocs.com clearance when it was posted on here before and they are terrible! The footbed is the same size, but the opening to get your foot into is TINY!!! Even the one with laces (we got both laces and velcro) It takes actual physical force from DH or myself to get these on the kids and they scream "Owww Owww that HURTS!"
  18. OMG, we got one of those and it was terrible, when the battery got weak, it would go off randomly. It was terrible. He's gone now! Walter the Farting dog is bad... hes a little stuffed animal (goes with a series of books) and when you squeeze him, he farts. At least it is audio only. http://www.amazon.com/Walter-Farting-Dog-8-Plush/dp/B000MWB730/ref=pd_bbs_sr_5?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1230798349&sr=8-5
  19. I got these and hated them. They looked cute but they KEPT blowing over, like more than once a day, even when it was not very windy and they are up on our front porch, shielded from the wind. I took them back a few days before Xmas. The base was just to narrow.
  20. BBW used to make a foaming handsoap in Raspberry. I LOVED it. I bought many bottles of it (ds had cancer and bone marrow transplant so we were real germaphobes for quite awhile) I got 12 of them as a Xmas gift even, but then they quit making it. It was my all time favorite. I contacted corporate and they responded with some lame form letter just saying basically too bad, try another scent. I haven't bought anything from there since. Those were what I went there for.
  21. A similar deal is http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B001F2G7E0/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A3UGMDAW3F220B&v=glance It is basically the 600 series but the covering isn't an enameled finish, but instead actual nikel alloy. It is the one at williams sonoma for $900. You could get it from Chefs.com without going through Amazon too, but Amazon does have a magazine subscribtion that comes with it that you can cancel for $8 rebate. Another place I was seriously considering... http://www.everythingkitchens.com/kitchen_aid_pro_600.html They say they will price match though and they wouldn't price match to my Younkers price because it was below their cost. I didn't want to go to Younkers as ours only had Red and White in stock and I was not thinking of those colors. But the more I really thought about it, I think White is best for us. I did get the 600 series. I can't open it yet, in fact I need to go hide it until dh wraps it so the kids don't see it, they know I want one. I am hosting NYE tonight and making a lot of food and wish I could use it now! LOL Or to make my birthday cake!!! The problem is, most of the things I make are sweet or fatty... So making me cook MORE will make me grow more too!!! I have kept my receipt and the rebate doesn't have to be filed until 1/31 (but has to be BOUGHT by TODAY!!!) so if it comes out cheaper somehow, I can still buy it. I have a sickness. I am still a little dissapointed in myself since I know this went cheaper a few weeks ago. I have trouble enjoying something that I didn't get the cheapest deal on. You guys are either my support group or my downfall... I haven't been able to decide yet!
  22. I got the Mario Kart game at Target in store, not online. The boys love it. I then bought 3 more wheels on Amazon and opened them. The next day my BIL gave the kids a game with a wheel (some 4X4 racing thing from Target) Uggggg We don't even want that game, but they didn't have the one we requested and now we have to keep this and not buy the one we wanted that is back in stock. But he has asked how the game is etc....
  23. My favorite things are at Walgreens, they are little sacks the size of a lunch sack. They are made out of wrapping paper though, but fold just like a lunch bag. They are great for easy wrapping, I can still seal it, better than a tradional gift bag, perfect for books, DVDs, video games, etc... I got over 100 of them the other day, but they are $.06 each!
  24. Thanks, I ended up buying one today from Younkers. It will be $252. after the rebate. I got 10% off from the coupons they have regularly and 10% off for signing up for a Younkers card. I debated on colors a lot... almost got silver, but ended up with white. I love white kitchens, and while this house doesn't have one, since we are planning on building our next house, it will. And I want this to last that long! LOL I just nearly got the 620 instead, which is at Williams Sonoma for $899!!! But it is on Amazon for $399 and then the $50 rebate, but it actually has a less powerful motor than the 600, the difference is it is actually nikel or copper, not just colored, but the actual metal. So? I just got home with it and have to wrap it up, my birthday is in 2 more weeks. I am excited!!! DH NEVER comes up with presents for me! It was SO SWEET and just yesterday I was pointing them out to DS7 at Kohls saying I was going to get one when we move (I plan ahead)
  25. I have a Summer baby video monitor as does my sister. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it, I think it is a different model because mine was $170, but worth looking into!
