  1. This is a question that gets posted every year and truthfully BF will always disappoint some people. I think it will be the same as in the past were there will be good deals on certain things and other things will be left out and some people will think it was the worst BF ever while others think it was the best and so forth. With the state of the economy I think there will be a wider scope of deals on mid-priced items and everyday use items (small electronics). People, like last year and the years before, will probably be disappointed in the lack of selection in TVs and computers b/c those items are so broad. I partake in BF foremost for the tradition aspect, with my mom, sister and aunt, but we always tend to leave with a car (or two ) full no matter the range (or lack of range) of the deals.
  2. I get way too many DVDs on BF! I have some from last BF and the BF before that (2007) that I have yet to watch. I tend to get into a grab and go mode and rarely think about the titles. This year I'm going to be way more selective.
  3. We don't do the shoe tradition but we do another very German tradition - hanging a pickle ornament on the tree and whoever finds it first gets to open the present first.
  4. Ours was the exact opposite - they encouraged the use of coupons today with the tote but just that your total - including coupons - was over $40. Maybe its up to each store?!! We hit up Bath and Body Works at around 9am and they had plenty of totes left which was surprising b/c we didn't think we would get one!
  5. What a hectic day its been!! At 3:50am dropped sister off at Target (we went to a smaller town this year) she was the first one there. Mom and aunt went to Herbergers. Walmart: I got to Walmart around 4am - not a 24hr Walmart like I'm used to so I had to stand outside! There was only one line formed in front of the doors by the garden-store area not by the other door (by the grocery area). I made nice with the lady behind me and she was saying her mom works there and that we should start a line by the grocery area cuz they usually open that first. At this time the one line was about 40-50 people. So basically I was second in the new line, which was let in about a half a minute before the other line! All I got from walmart was a whole bunch of DVDs (about 35 some for me and some for gifts). Target: I got to Target about 5:25am, my sister was the first one and the line was about 30 deep. She made friends with those around who were amazed she was there for so long (even though it was only two hours) they let me cut up by her since they were getting different things and we knew there would be plenty of everything. My mom and aunt finally arrive from Herbergers (which was a bit hectic as well). Doors open and only a couple of us in the front ran everyone else walked in. Very different from the previous years that we've gone to a bigger city where everyone ran. Not really any line-cutters - they blocked areas off with carts and had a employee keeping guard in the last half hour. We got the following: - 2 Westinghouse TVs - Bunch of DVDs and TV series - 4 iPods - Cordless Drill - Indoor/outdoor temp - Air Mattress - iPod docking station - various others After that we went into a bigger town and went to Best Buy (DVDs, CD, Yamaha Keyboard, DS game), Bath and Body Works (got there at 8:40 and plenty of VIP bags left), Barnes and Nobles (not really anything on sale but got some calenders), Scheels (clothing), Lane Bryant (clothing) and finally Famous Footwear (shoes). All in all it was a really good BF and we got home around 10:30 which is the latest we've stayed out!
  6. That will be a pretty 'hot' item - I would already be waiting in line. It all depends on where you live, if you are going to a big town then I would guess you're out of luck already! If you live in a smaller town I would be out the door right now to wait in line. If I was you I would head to the BB now and see how many people are there and ask whoever is in line what they are going for. There could only be a minimum amount of that laptop there so go out and check it out! Good Luck and hope this helps!

    Now what? :(

My parent's paper was missing quite a bit they got only Target, Walmart and Hardware store as well as Penny's and Herbegers. My sister brought her paper and she had the rest. Kmart wasn't in either...
  8. This year I'm dropping my sis off at Target to wait in line and my mom at Herbergers and I'm hitting up Walmart basically just for DVDs. Last year I got a crap load of DVDs on BF and most came from Walmart. They had plenty of DVDs when I went at 5am and then again at about 9 or 10am - when I went to a different Walmart.
  9. Since I go for DVDs and smaller things while the rest of my group goes for bigger things I've decided that this year I'm bring along a 'green' reuseable tote - the ones you use instead of plastic bags. I've heard a lot of people use them so they don't have to look for a basket and it's more flexible.
  10. I probably wouldn't hit up BB until about 7am or so, it will be one of the last stops - just for left over DVDs and CDs. Not even sure if it will be worth going then or not...
  11. LOL nevermind my post above then
  12. Once the animated people with carts are done, on the left under the "View your local ad" there is an animated person pushing a cart in place that says "2-day sale preveiw: Incredible deals for everyone" click on it then go to the end of the regular BF ad and there are 6 pages of deals not in the print ad.
  13. LOL Yup I am!! How funny!!! We've been doing BF in Mankato for 5-6 years but this year, since we don't see a whole lot of things we really want, we are going to hit up Walmart and Target in New Ulm then after we are done I think I'm going to head over to Mankato for Best Buy, Bath and Body Works and a few others!
  14. The past BFs we've always gone to a bigger town and the Target and Walmart were less then a mile apart. So we would go to Walmart first and be out and over at Target in 15 mins (5:15) and we have always been in the front half of the lines and have always gotten what we wanted and at least one of the things were doorbusters. But this year we are going to a smaller town with basically only a Target, Walmart and Kmart cuz we want two tvs and figure we would have better luck at the smaller town's Target. I want some of the cheap DVDs at Walmart thus me dropping my mom, sis and aunt off at Target and I will run to Walmart (about 5-6 miles away) and then back again. But I am a bit worried since we've never done the smaller town before and we don't know if most ppl go onto the bigger town since there is more of a variety or still with the small town since they think there wouldn't be soo many people!!
  15. Yup it will be for all locations, it just says MN because in order to see an ad you have to put in a city/zip code.
  16. I'm dropping off my mom, sis and aunt at about 4:20 before I head over to Walmart and grab some things and be back before Target opens.
  17. I was hoping for more Tv selection as well...the only somewhat highlight is more DVDs
  18. I got the email for the preview of the BF Target ad, even though I've already seen it. So I clicked on it and at the end there are extra in-store deals, 6 pages of stuff not found in the print ad! Heres the link: http://weeklyad.target.com/target/default.aspx?action=entryflash&citystatezip=56001&ref=tgt_email_RS811260 It's after the regular BF ad.
  19. It's really nice living here in MN b/c lines don't start until Thanksgiving afternoon/night, even for amazing deals! If you tried lining up earlier you would die from hypothermia!!
  20. We are going to try to pick up two, my parents have one and it looks really good!
  21. Stopped into B&N today for a few things and asked the cashier about BF and she said they didn't really have a BF sale last year and she doesn't know about anything this year. She did say that they are opening an hour earlier though!
  22. Our list is: 2 Westinghouse TVs - hopefully or at least one!! A bunch of DVDs Twin inflatable mattress 2 cozy blankets indoor/outdoor temp.
  23. We're only gettting: Samsung 32" LCD TV DVDs (any of the price ranges) We want more stuff at Target so Walmart is going to be a in-out sort of thing so we can get a good spot at Target - where my sister is already going to be waiting.
  24. Alright our plan is pretty much set. 1. Walmart at 3:30 for the Samsung 32" LCD TV - Mom will be stationed over there while I'm at the DVD section ready to grab. 2. While mom and I are at Walmart my sister will be standing in line at Target for the 26" Westinghouse TV, inflatable mattress, cozy blankets, indoor/outdoor temp., cheap DVDs, etc... 3. In and out of Walmart we'll head over to Target to join my sister in line. 4. While sis and I are in line, mom is going to head over to Bath and Body Works (for VIP bag) and Herbergers (we'll have to see whats in the ad). 5. After Target, sis and I will hit up Best Buy for DVDs and little extras. 6. While we are at BB, mom will probably head over to Old Navy or Kohls. 7. After we are all done, we hit up McDonald's and I'll go with my mom home and my sis heads off to work. 8. Once I get to my parents house I'll go on to a smaller town by them and hit up their Target and Walmart for things I missed or things that will still be around at 10am. So we have a few kinks yet to work out but we'll do that on Thanksgiving.
  25. My mom will be grabbing the Samsung 32LCD and I'll be hitting up the DVDs while my sister is waiting in line at Target!
