Cash, Credit, Debit, Check, Giftcard... How will you be paying on BF?
zim05 replied to AudreyNicole's topic in 2009
I'll be using cash, gift cards and my debt...I'll also bring along my credit card just in case! -
I think it depends on the Target. All of the Targets around us don't give out tickets but I've heard some people on this boards say that their Target gives out tickets. Call your Target the week of BF and ask how they intend on distributing the TVs and doorbusters and they will let you know if they are doing tickets or first come first serve sort of thing.

LOL try doing it in Minnesota...last year we decided to go to a smaller town which had the basic stores we needed (Target, Walmart and Herbergers, when we were done we went to a larger town for BB, BBW, Kohls,etc..) so I dropped my sister off at Target at 3am with the only chair and blanket and went over to Walmart only to find it was not a 24hr store and I had to wait in a line OUTSIDE without a chair or blanket and wearing only jeans and a sweatshirt! To top it all off it started snowing So lessons learned: Make sure you know a head of time how BF works at specific stores either by asking a manager or others BFers. Also it's better to be over prepared then under prepared.

We got two Westinghouse 27" last year at Target (one for me and one for my parents) and neither of us have had any problems with them at all. I'll be upgrading to the 32" this year. I looked at reviews last year before BF and saw that some loved them and others didn't but I don't remember specifically what they didn't like about them. But my personal experience is that I like Westinghouse and have been happy with it up to this point.

LOL we have that same issue but with Best Buy!

I guess that's the nice thing about living in smaller communities. Where I live I'm sandwiched between two mid-sized towns both with Targets, we go to the smaller of the two towns and the Target lines weren't bad at all. It could also be that the cold BF MN mornings keep the line down a bit. :-) But at the larger town's Target if we showed up there at that same time we would probably be 50 back.
-
Last year I dropped my sister off at Target at our small-mid size town at 3am and she was first and it took about 30 minutes for another person to show up (last BF Target opened at 6). This year we both will be waiting and I think we are going to try to get there between 2:30-3am.

The Targets around me, in mid-sized cities, have the TVs along a wide side aisle (along the cards but since Targets tend to be layouted different it may depend) and there are associates there to help load into carts and just monitor the crowd. But I've heard others who stated that they do a ticket system for large-sized city Targets so I think you should call Target the week of BF or go in and ask a manager what they intend on doing for the TVs. Also the Targets around us have employees and managers who go around in the crowd about 30 minutes before opening to see if anyone has questions and they will give out information on the location and quantity of the doorbusters.

Keep in mind everyone that last year's Target BF ad had a few more additional pages of doorbusters/sale items. If I remember correctly those additional items were posted on Target.com the week of BF and were included in the print ad. So this may happen again this BF....

I bought the 27" Westinghouse last BF at Target and so far I have no complaints. Last year I believe I paid the same or more for the TV than what this 32" is marked at. I'll be getting the 32" this year at Target.

If you're talking about the 32" Westinghouse then yes it's a good tv. Last year they had the 27" Westinghouse on BF for the same price as this years 32" and I picked one up and love it! I have yet to have any problems with it. I'll be upgrading to the 32" this BF and giving my sister the 27"

Thanks so much!! Target will be our first stop as well! So far I'm eyeing the Westinghouse TV and Nano....a little disappointed with DVD selections some of the cheapers ones were there last year... Last year I believe Target also sent out an additional page or two with more deals.

We usually hit up BB after Target and Walmart basically for DVDs and CDs and whatever is left over.
-
Since DVDs are usually the staple of my BF purchases I'll give you what I think about those titles. I'm more than certain you'll find Transformers 1 cheap (as in the $5 area). Transformers 2 will be on sale since it was a 'blockbuster hit.' Up and Monsters & Aliens will probably be on sale since they were some of the few decent kids movies out this past year - at least under $15 X-men will probably be on sale - around the $12 or under along with Ugly Truth Dexter and Simpsons Tv season were, I believe, included in the BF ads last year, so I would assume they would be again. I think last year they were $20 or less... Again this is all my opinion based on past years BFs. Last year I hit up Walmart, Target and Best Buy for numerous things but I looked at there DVDs and Walmart is good for an assortment of older (as in a year or two or ten) and newer (they had most of the newer blockbuster movies on sale). Target had good tv seasons (last year I got all of Weeds) as well as new titles. Best Buy had a mixure like Walmart and Target but also has other TV seasons (like Curb and Entourage). All other movies I wanted, such as indies or lesser known titles, I found on sale at Amazon.com on BF...I believe free shipping was an option but I'm not 100% sure.. So basically I would wait it out because at least somewhere will have those specific titles on sale.

Target, Walmart, Best Buy and Herbergers

Last year the Target we went to had placed carts making a passage way into the store that covered the first 30 people so the cutting wasn't bad at all. It is also one of those towns where everyone basically knows everyone so people aren't as competitive/aggressive like they are at the Target in a larger city about 30 miles away. Also the Target is well stocked and their are usually enough doorbusters to go around (depending of course on what it is).

I've only been to Kmart for their Thanksgiving sale two years ago when they had the Wii and there were only 3 of us until about an hour and a half before they opened at which point a line (of about 40) formed when they opened. We never shop at Kmart during the year so I guess we never have looked at their BF ads as an option for our BF list...
-
Well this kinda stinks for me as well since I usually run into Walmart then head the 3-4 miles to Target before they open. But the last couple of years I only go to Walmart first (while my sister waits at Target) for DVDs...which I could do without or swing by after Target. So I guess it all depends on the ads and whether this is nationwide. And who knows maybe Walmart will open an hour earlier because of this but 4am opening would be early!
-
Me too, or at least do coupons or something...I would totally hit them up on BF! The Targets around us do the two day sale but usually on Saturday they will restock what little they have left so sometimes what I couldn't/forget to get on Friday I could Saturday.
-
Two lcd Westinghouse TVs from last BF at Target. Leading up to BF people thought that the brand was crap and that a person should keep their money and put it to a better brand. We have had no problems with it and LOVE them!
-
We really tend to do the same thing every year... - I drop my sister off at Target for her to stand in line - I hit Walmart while my mom and aunt are at Herbergers - I get to Target b/f they open Then my mom, sister and I go over to a bigger town (about 30minutes away) and hit up Bath and Body Works and Best Buy (for leftover CDs and DVDs).
-
My mom and sister. My aunt did the first year we did BF (about 5 or 6 yrs ago) but she usually has to work BF morning. Last year my mom, sister and I decided to see what BF was like in a smaller town then we usually go to and my aunt joined us (she lives there). We liked it so much that we intend on doing it again this year.
-
First and foremost for tradition, we've (mom, sister and aunt) have been doing this for about 6 years. Secondly I like to see what kinds of shenanigans people try to pull just because it's BF. And trust me I've seen quite a bit and we don't live in a highly populated area. And thirdly I like to count the number of times I hear people say "It's cold out." Not only does BF take place in Nov and in the wee early hours of the morning but we live in Minnesota so yeah it's not going like a day at the beach! Oh and also I like to shop...maybe I should have mentioned that earlier...
