That just doesn't make any sense to me. So Walmart is essentially saying if you don't have cash on hand for Black Friday you're SOL?? I don't understand the logic behind that at all; glad that I don't have to use layaway but I feel bad for the people that are hoping it will help them out.

My credit union transfers the $$ in your Christmas Club account to your savings on Oct 1st. I leave it there and will transfer as needed.

The top toys in my house are the Let's Rock Elmo (dd1), the leapad (ds4) and those monster high dolls for dd8. DS4 also wants the few remaining toys from Toy Story that he doesn't have. I think boys that are into hot wheels are going to love the track that goes on the wall. And the manufacturers are definitely pushing electronics on the older kids.

I agree. People are looking at these as iPad replacements or a cheaper version of iPad and that is just not the case. -
A big difference between the 2 is the lack of a 3G model with the new Kindle Fire. You have the option with iPADs. While much cheaper, I don't see them affecting sells of them bc the 2 are very different. Also, another issue is the size...I have practically replaced my laptop with my iPAD 2, I can't imagine a Kindle Fire doing the same for me.

The WM version actually did have a choice in colors bc I got my DD7 one and while I wanted red, it was sold out so she ended up with the aquamarine. I think it also came in chocolate. She loves it and we have not run into an issue with her wanting to do anything that it was incapable of doing. For her age and it being her first personal computer, we thought it was perfect.

With the exception of when I am standing in line @ TRU with my BFF, I am alone on BF. We meet at that store and usually have a difft plan for the rest of the stops. -I dress comfortably and in layers; Under Armour is a must since I try to go without a heavy coat as much as I can (I will have gloves, no hat) -Cross body bag that I use to carry keys, ID & cash -No snacks; I stop @ Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts @ some point and that gets me through (when I get home around 9 or 10, I eat leftovers & crash :) -last but not least: my iPHONE, it has my list, the plan of stores and what I am getting at each store along with the expected total at each of these stores. That's about all for me; the lighter I travel the better & I will avoid carts as much as I can!!

Amazon Kindle Fire 7" Android Tablet - $199 shipped (ships 11/15)
tyreejames replied to Brad's topic in Online Hot Deals
I am considering getting it for my mom for Christmas, I was initially going to get the Kindle 3G/Wi-Fi. This one doesn't have 3G so I may still stick with the older version. I am also expecting B&N to drop the price of the NOOK color now. If they do, then DD8 may be getting one of those instead of the Kindle w/ Special Offers. -
I hated the "Shop While You Wait" from Walmart! Am I alone in this?
tyreejames replied to maguszxz's topic in 2011
I know every WM is different but my issue with the set-up was that it was random and complete chaos when they started allowing people to take things off the pallets. For instance, people were there early enough, formed lines for non-ticketed pallet items @ at 12 it turned into a free for all with grabbing & pulling. That's not people getting what they deserved bc they were waiting; that seems to me to be causing the very thing they wanted to avoid, ymmv. -
I hated the "Shop While You Wait" from Walmart! Am I alone in this?
tyreejames replied to maguszxz's topic in 2011
I thought it was a waste especially if you were not there for the initial Midnight sale. I got there last year around 10:30 or so for the midnight sale; got everything that I went for except for the Leapster. Luckily, there was nothing that I wanted in the 5am sale but the store was a madhouse and I would imagine that those showing up at 3 or 4am did not get all that they were hoping for. -
Any ideas if Walmart will be having another "secret sale"?
tyreejames replied to princess7794's topic in 2011
I am also looking forward to the Saturday sales again; I got itunes cards last year and wouldn't mind getting some more again. Also, I'm hoping a store does a PS3 w/ gc prior to Black Friday. If I have to wait until BF that's fine but I would much rather get it before and not have to worry about it. -
Windows CE is not worth it on any netbook; it is essentially the OS for their phones...I am not surprised that your cousin has problems with it.

How do you make your lists/budge/amount of giftst?
tyreejames replied to momof3luvs1's topic in 2011
I set my budget first (same amount per child, 4 kids). I use an iPHONE/iPAD app that allows me to enter budget and each individual person and each gift. At a quick glance, I can see how much I've spent total and individually. I use to worry about the same # of gifts but my children do not care. Also as they get older it is hard to keep the gift/money amount the same. For instance, DS15 is getting a PS3, that's half of his budgeted amount and the rest will be mainly gift cards. -
With The Economy This Year Are You Cutting Back for Black Friday?
tyreejames replied to bfaddict1977's topic in 2011
I'm cutting back not necessarily because of the economy but just because I am actively trying to be aware of wasteful spending. We're also looking to buy our first home in 2012 so that is motivation as well. I have told DH that I am sticking to a $500 limit per child; we have 4 so that puts us at $2,000 without buying for my mother, nieces, nephews, etc....DS15 wants the PS3 badly and since it's the only system we don't have we will be getting it. I have to find the best bundle for my money bc the reg price of $250 is half of his allotment. -

iPad 2's have been out, the original did drop in price some. I believe you can get a refurbed for around $350... -
I havent had to return anything. In fact, with 4 kids we have toys that have gone through multiple children and are still in great shape.

What things are you hoping for the most on Black Friday to be good deals?
tyreejames replied to momof3luvs1's topic in 2011
You should really just start saving to get yourself one; Apple doesn't put their stuff on sale. At most you can hope for a gc with purchase but the price will not change. -
It takes years for the govt to get the sites shut down; napster and limewire were shut down after years of court battles.

Sam's Club Open House - Jan 12 to 25 - No Upcharge for Non-Members
tyreejames replied to noehlp's topic in Offline Hot Deals
We're considering a Costco membership though it won't replace Sams. Recently had a trial membership @ BJ's and everything that we regularly by @ Sams cost more @ BJ's; I would need a coupon on everything to equal out the cost. No point in that to me.... -

Best Buy - Setup and Restore CD?
tyreejames replied to boblabontefan's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
My experience is they ask you if you want it. I would go back and complain and demand a refund, but I would have definitely noticed that my total was significantly higher than it should have been...
