I agree! While we celebrate Thanksgiving on Thursday and I still head out and go shopping, I just do not understand this notion of needing a "day" to spend with family. DH and I both work full-time, I am also in grad school and even with 4 kids and all their activities we find the time to spend together as a unit. Just us. In a way I resent people telling me that this one day of the year is so important in the eyes of my family; anyday that we spend together is Thanksgiving. ymmv.

If you have a Kohl's near you, check their circulars. Imaginext toys are often on sale there. You just need to be mindful of the price bc Kohls often jacks their initial price up.

if Meijer is not in your area, Target may not price match as they wouldn't view them as a competitor.

It's called the Wii U; completely revamped and it will include touchscreen controllers.

I'm not really sure who or what you are disagreeing with but I actually gave the poster my thoughts on both systems and said that 'I' personally preferred the 360. However, based on the fact that she's getting it as a family console with a 5 year old girl in mind, I recommended the Wii. Whether games are good or not is all relative and one could say the same about games for the 360 especially when discussing them in relation to a 5 year old.

If you do not already have a 360 then I would go for the Wii. We have both and the kinect line of games is getting better and better; we hardly play the wii anymore. However, cost wise and bc of the library of games, the Wii is better for a family just getting into gaming. Keep in mind, that the new Nintendo console should be out by spring of 2012.

Just me; I would normally meet a friend @ TRU and we would split up after that. However, she's working 12 hours on Thanksgiving this year so she's not doing BF.

Sorry to hear that. If you can find it near you, try the Southern Comfort brand; even without alcohol it's pretty good.

I got egg nog last week @ Wal-Mart! It's impossible for me to walk by it without having any :) and yes, it's all gone now

correct me if I'm wrong but with the new one, they have done away with the light bulb right?

When is it officially Christmas time in your house?
tyreejames replied to dwc designs's topic in 2011
Last weekend, I cleaned out old toys in DD8 and DS4's rooms. Since DH will be working tomorrow, I plan on getting some more stuff out of the basement as well! I now have 4-5 empty totes which will soon be filled with Christmas purchases!! -
They posted it on Facebook as well.

I've shopped @ 3 different Target's the past 6-7 Black Fridays and not once have we had a problem with the line rushers. Do they try? Sure, but Target employees & security do a very good job of making it clear that they need to go to the back of the line. 20-30 seconds is no time so since this doesn't bother me much.

Midnight openings don't bother me. Last year, I was out my house by 7pm Thanksgiving to get to TRU. Left TRU, went to Wal-Mart and then stopped in Gamestop @ the mall. I then went home, dropped stuff off & was @ Target by 3am. Left Target by 5:30, went to Sam's Club and Five Below and was home in bed by 7:30....

Do you know where are all your reward/loyalty cards are?
tyreejames replied to BFQueenofNY's topic in 2011
Also, if you have a smartphone, get an app that allows you to upload the loyalty cards and then you won't have to worry about if you have the card or the little key tags. I have been able to get rid of many key tags for my most-shopped at stores. -
ABC Family Countdown to 25 Days of Christmas Schedule - disappointing
tyreejames replied to stacyk9's topic in 2011
I'm pretty sure that's last year's schedule....Christmas is on a Sunday this year. -
Not to mention, there's a lot of places that I would feel better about my kids toting a touch to versus the Fire.. My daughter is getting a keyboard kindle this year but she hardly ever leaves home w/o her touch.

I shop in several cities: my night starts off in Deptford, NJ and I will then head to Delran, NJ. I tend to end on BF in either Cherry Hill or Cinnaminson.

I agree. Last year I used my Old Navy cc on Thanksgiving to get the BF price a day early. As soon as I got home, the $ spent was deducted from BF spending money & paid off as soon as it posted. I do this for special perks & sales and I always avoid paying any intetest.

I found that site last year & i absolutely adore it!!! I have already started checking it this year.

Imagine the amount of shoppers that dont do their due diligence!

That was not my point at all. I'm not speaking of people putting things on layaway & then getting them out on BF. I'm speaking on the conversation w/ the store manager that stated BF items will not be eligible for layaway. According to this manager, if it's on sale for BF it cannot be put on layaway thereby excluding people that would not be able to shop on BF bc they don't necessarily have the cash on hand for the total amount.
