I seem to recall Micro Center giving out doughnuts one year. :2wiggle:

I find it just so incredibly difficult to believe that a retailer of such distinction:angel1: would do something so underhanded. I just can't imagine it!! Oh wait, you did say BB:sleazy: , didn't you? :runaway:

I saw something online that pointed out the irony that Walmart will not permit it's associates to say "Merry Christmas" yet they still close on Christmas Day. Remember when all stores were closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas?

Nice get snakeswiff!! I can't even find that model at Target's website! I was trying to match the picture to 5MP cameras at Kodak's site, but I didn't find it - well done!

I believe that most stores which PM for BF do so because they PM all year. However, as you may have noticed in several threads within this forum, the rules and the enforcement of them can vary locally. This means you should read the fine print in the circular, and then double check with your local store. I believe because of increased consumer awareness of PM policies and sadly also because of a few rotten apples, many stores are tightening up their policies. Be certain that you are asking to PM the EXACT same model. Also some stores have certain exceptions which they will not match, such as closeouts, percentage off sales, etc. Some of these conditions are subject to interpretation, so be nice to your overworked and underpaid associate! I have also found that some stores will insist on calling the ad's store to check if the item is still in stock. If the ad store is out, they may not match the price - again enforcement may vary -especially if your associate is tired! Finally, you should be aware that some stores will even PM groceries. In some markets, Meijer and WalMart will PM groceries! :woot2:

You beat me to it nitstalker! Not only does Ms. Lutz neglect to disclose her station's conflict of interest (WSAW is owned by Gray Television Inc., which owns several newspapers), buy she also quotes "executives" of the Wausau Daily Herald, which is owned by what I believe is the nation's largest newspaper conglomerate - Gannett. Looks like another uninformed corporate sell-out piece. Wake up Ms. Lutz, we LOVE newspaper inserts!! (especially anybody, executives included, who circumvent the "close guard" to share them in advance of their scheduled publication date) I realize that there are many unscrupulous (look it up) websites, just as there are unscrupulous reporters and "news" or media organizations. Had you bothered to investigate this site, including the readily available 2004 archive, complete with postings made AFTER Black Friday, you would have realized that your inclusion of this site in your story was not only inappropriate, but it may even be actionable, due in part to the ludicrous (not the rapper, that would be Ludacris, and this is a family oriented website) use of the term "fraud". However Brad and RossMan are probably both too nice and too busy helping people to bother with a trifling reporter from the 133rd biggest market. Ms. Lutz, should you choose to educate yourself, get some great ideas and advice, have some fun, and quite possibly save yourself some money, I am even willing to pay for your membership (they are still free, right?) to GottaDeal. C'mon in & have fun! :bunny: The end.

Great job markrapy!! Irony - you have to use a mail in rebate, complete with all of your personal information, to obtain the "anonymous" surfing software.

Anyone else's local media discouraging shopping WM this season?
venerdinero replied to Candy's topic in 2005
I'm sorry, but I believe that the Walmart statement which began with "We sincerely apologize..." is absolutely and exactly an apology. The apology was the first of three conditions to be met in order to halt the proposed boycott. The second was to withdraw the "insane statement" (not my terms). Since the employee in question is no longer employed by Walmart and the statement went on to call his remarks "inappropriate and inflammatory", I think that qualifies. Finally, the website has been modified, as requested, to direct "Christmas" searches to "Christmas" items rather than to a generic "Holiday" page. Having had their three conditions met, the boycott was called off. Please note that the remarks in question were emailed in response to a customer inquiry. That customer, being offended by the remarks, apparently contacted the Catholic League. Walmart associates will apparently continue to wish customers the more generic "Happy Holidays". The Catholic League called this policy "dumb", but not related to their complaint and not "grossly offensive". As to the origins of Christmas... oh, bother... we only discuss the origins of Black Friday on this board!! Merry Happy Shopping everybody! -
Maybe it's a trick! We have to wait next to the 3rd bay of the Auto Center!!
-
Walmart went by mail (encore -sorry). Rumor was that they MAY have some unadvertised midnight-6am specials -maybe that's where the best deals are? or maybe they realized that they PM so many deals and get so many customers anyway - no need to amaze us in the BF ad??
-
walmart was mailed - I think you have to live within x miles of store.
-
Yeah!! I'm not the only one who forgot! RossMAN right on strategy for which door with one minor potential glitch - the key is how do they determine the "1st 200" customers to enter the store for the $10 gift card?? I wonder if it will be one door only or like 50 per door? Sneakers?? This ain't about comfort!! Break out the steel tipped combat boots if you are serious about getting what you want!!
-
I would gladly purchase it and self install for $40 for 256mb of notebook ram!!
-
double check me as this sounds almost too good - even better than what elena_398 posted from same store - compusa! (although I will rip them for a scam in another post :) ) 100 pack of either dvd+r or dvd-r (316430/316438) 6 hour special BF 6am-12pm. $69.00 - $50.00 INSTANT savings = $19.00!!! I doubt this will last long!

I like the proposed new forum ideas. I think beatmix01 has a bias for travel at the moment! :)

No this Toshibia "Satellite" laptop at BB does NOT have wi-fi built in. You would have to follow the other suggestions above. To follow up on one of them - if you don't go the wi-fi route (and remember wi-fi is not yet available everywhere) the only other way that I know to get service "out shopping or in the car" is through essentially a wireless or cell phone company. Companies like sprint, verizon and others ofter a monthly data plan which does generally require that you buy their specific pcmcia card to insert into your laptop. Here are links to those to companies fyi: Sprint Verizon Hope that's of some help to you. ***help - why aren't my links being shortened anymore? what on earth did I do to turn that lovely feature off?? URLs fixed - RossMAN

Doorbusters NOT AVAILABLE at Central Ohio Best Buy??
venerdinero replied to MarkRaby's topic in 2004
I think this will be the "Jim Petro" sale in honor of the Ohio AG who dutifully sued BB over their (allegedly) illegal business practices. I doubt this is payback as much as this is part of a settlement or part of BB trying not to get in more trouble. There is also a slight possibility that this is part of "The new BB" as central OH is frequently a test market for darned near everything. That's the only reason I can think of as to why only CENTRAL Ohio involved, if that's true. We'll have to start investigating this so folks don't freeze for nuthin' Blue Shirts?? Any imput??? -
I'm afraid all I can say is that it depends greatly on your local area and what is on sale this year. I don't believe that OM is quite as popular and well known as BB, but those who need to know do! It sounds like your best option may be to shop online today - as noted in some of the other threads, some stores make their BF deals available TODAY online (several with only nominal shipping charges). Good luck!

:) Rookie! Beware the sleep deprived cold desperate huddled masses longing for that doorbuster gameboy that santa has promised their children and their accountant has told them they can't afford
-
Nice!! Spread that BF Holiday Cheer!!
-
Walmart, Kmart (68 hour or something like that sale) supermarkets (meijer all day - kroger 5pm - giant eagle 4pm) big lots and I'm forgetting at least one.
-
Great point for the 1st timers stephcharter! & I would even take that one step further as I believe most, if not all stores with big ticket items will give out coupons at the front of the line.
-
Sorry CheapArse - I don't remember exactly and I guess I didn't retain a copy as I wasn't interested in anything without a sales price There are some items with sales prices - the front page etc - I believe this was on an internal page - at least one item was a camera -I'll try to relocate and advise. Also the CD's reg 12.99 to 14.99 are "11.99 or less" what? may i use the old acronym of bfd??? I suspect many will be cheap to compete with BB - and to create the "unexpected" buzz when they are much less than 11.99 - maybe. On the other hand this deal is Friday AND Saturday. It's going to be interesting out there!
