  1. Depends what stores/items you are looking for and what part of the city. Check to see who has the thickest paper - or even take a look inside. My best guess would be the Daily News. You might even be better off with one of the suburban papers (Newark Star Ledger, Bergen Record, Journal News, or the Long Island edition of Newsday.). Of course you can splurge and buy a couple of them. I think only the Times is over $.50 for the daily paper - but it is also the most likely to have the higher end stores like Cartier, Tiffany, etc.
  2. shoppingqueen Where are you from? I how you think!
  3. Touche' I think eMachines are a toss-up, good for the price, but with risk. I should have clarified, I meant it as a general point or question regarding all of the computers being sold with XP and 256mb - they essentially ALL need to upgrade the memory, and people might unknowingly void their warranty. Related questions: Do laptops come with seals as well? If you do have BB (or other resellers) install the memory, do they put on a new factory authorized seal or do they assume the warranty?
  4. Wouldn't that defeat the whole purpose of doorbusters? To get bodies in the store and shopping? I appreciate the effort and things will change in the next few years, but I don't think this idea will fly.
  5. Won't the SKU be different??
  6. If only it were true. I'm afraid that only when those facts are packaged in such a way as to illuminate what they have actually done wrong, together with a reminder of the potential consquences, will they do anything further.
  7. That's what I would do, but - don't you technically void the warranty when you break the seal on the case? That may not matter for some of us, but for some people that might be a big deal.

    Radio Shack

Radio Shack frequently sells out their doorbusters quickly. If you can't get there early, look for a secluded store. Sometimes RS has stores in obscure places, off the beaten path, away from bigger retailing areas.
  9. More fair to whom? If you warn everyone in advance, at the store AND in the ads that it will be a lottery, then that is fair. First come, first serve is fair. The problem is that someone always tries to cheat. Line cutters versus how many lottery tickets did someone take. The real question, at least for the stores, is what is the safest way to do this, which still drives maximum sales.
  10. To paraphrase you, 007webgod - you are whacked!! :rotflol:
  11. I don't think most people mind if someone who has been in line needs a brief break - to warm up, fill up or empty out. But when someone takes off for more than an hour - that doesn't go over well. When someone who has been in line is joined by a spouse or A friend, (like Kenzysmom) unless they take coupons for the best items, I don't think most people mind - but the problem is, who knows if they ARE going to take coupons or grab other good stuff?? 2nd door? As long as you're not able to purchase "doorbusters" or coupon items - then that's just your strategy - others would be wise to consider it.
  12. I presume they stock most things today (and last night), except for the doorbuster pallets, because of the Thanksgiving DAY sales and also I presume it would be less expensive than having it done tonight or tomorrow, because of the holiday. (This assumes that WM pays overtime or holiday pay - do they?)
  13. :rotflol: For that matter the Thanksgiving Day paper only costs $.50 in most areas, it's not like you have to pay for a Sunday paper. A more interesting question is for those in markets with more than one paper, which one do you buy? (I'd buy them all - again, only $.50 plus RossMAN's quote above)
  14. :lmao:
  15. No, you got it right erh12275.
  16. How did I miss that! PM at Meijer's + double coupon = $1.00 Tide!! :gd_devild
  17. Whacked? Hey, the Sopranos are on! Thanks for the reminder!! Any Sopranos box sets on sale?? erh12275 - you left out
  18. worse than a mole!! it's The Man!! movies? what movies? :2tapdance <begins uninstalling Napster quickly> <screams at pc> Hurry up you old !! :crash: <remembers that Napster is legal now>
  19. I have heard many "experts" advise women to carry their purse in front of their bodies, one side tucked under their elbow, with their hand on the the other side (it's almost like a football player would carry and protect the ball). Another consideration would be "travel" money belts or similar items.
  20. I think some stores are using or thinking about using raffle systems because they feel that the camping out in really really long lines thing has gotten a little bit out of control. IF it were to be announced in advance, it MIGHT also cut down on some of the line issues. If it is just implemented without warning, obviously it would invite chaos.
  21. That's very cool. Just remember to barricade yourself so that you don't get run over!!
  22. Nah. It's just a lot of hype. <stay away> I'm going to Comp-USA for Midnight Madness then home for a nice long nap. <stay away> Somewhere around 4:15 I'll get up and have a nice leisurely breakfast:hungry: . Around 4:40-4:45 I'll depart for BB to get my laptop when the doors open at 5am. I doubt there will be more than 6 people out there in the cold and snow <stay away>, besides, NOBODY is going to wait in line all night in front of BB just to get such an underpowered laptop. All the smart shoppers <stay away> will be at CC or WM or Target or MicroCenter or Meijer busting down their doors for their TREMENDOUS deals!! <stay away> Just 5 or 6 of us will even bother going to BB - only because we have these silly coupons that McDonald's gave us - otherwise we wouldn't bother either. <stay away> I wish I could join you all at all those other stores where the great deals are! Too bad I'll be stuck all alone at BB. <stay away> Maybe next year I can go somewhere else. Remember, NOBODY wants to go to BB <stay away>this year. Go somewhere else <so I can get what I want> this year. Did I mention that my 17 friends and I have all 18 psa slots locked up from 5am until 6am <stay away> and that we have each requested that every single doorbuster item be pulled and reserved for each of us <no really, stay away>.
  23. Thanks for the tip Martinas!! I've got my breakfast plans made!! I wonder at what point they will only have beverages remaining??
  24. even if it's platinum?
