  1. I agree - some of their associates were getting very aggressive and rude. It was a convenient way for many of us to make a small donation, but I believe that the Salvation Army blew it by not responding to criticisms of their associates behaviour. I do believe that they are still present at some other stores (anybody?) and as RossMAN noted, you can send them a donation directly.
  2. wow! good memory Mark! I forgot about how they layered those pages in the ad. I wonder if the confusion they had to deal with was more trouble than the benefits of getting people to come in at different times of the day - some folks just don't read the ads , they see a pretty picture and want it on sale, NOW!!
  3. Great points Amy but I think you have a possibly confusing typo you might want to edit. I believe that the 1st time you typed digital you meant to type optical. I think.
  4. No problem! You will!! or else! I am not the expert, but in essence, there are two types of "zoom". There is "optical zoom" which uses the lens to magnify the object being photographed before it captures it. A "digital zoom", as I understand it, essentially just electronically blows up the distant image after capturing it and crops or cuts off the outer edges -this can lead to distortion or problems with the image in some instances. Think of "digital zoom" as what might happen if you blew up a normal 4x6 image into an 8x10 - then cut off the outer parts to make the center of the 8x10 fit into a 4x6 frame. OK the abridged story - I've been told by people far more knowledgeable than I in these matters that digital zoom is basically useless. As RossMAN noted, you want an optical zoom of 3x or better (higer number). I have been told that using the composite number of optical + digital is also useless. Common sense tells you that if you combine good with garbage, the result is at least part garbage. I suggest you ignore the digital or any combined zoom number and focus on the optical zoom number!! almost forgot - the camera should also have a minimum of 3.1 megapixels (essentially how many dots or pixels in each picture - the more mps, generally the better the image detail and by extension, image quality.
  5. Remember - Department Stores tend to run huge multipage ads IN the paper itself!! Even if you don't read the paper remember to look through it for these ads with valuable coupons!! also some smaller or local stores may ONLY advertise within the paper!!
  6. They didn't get spanked hard enough, yet. :) Isn't that still an open matter though? I believe the Feds are after them as well. They like to talk about how "demon" and "devil" customers allegedly hurt them by demanding that BB follow its own rules and the law , yet how do they treat their customers? We need a 2faced smilie!!
  7. I agree with eMelanie! Also, as with most sales, if it appears that you are buying far more than "reasonable" they may reserve the right to limit your purchase. For example, don't try to buy 40 of them. Well, at least not at once. Keep going back and go to a different cashier!!
  8. as the 48 passes the 20 again!!
  9. It was worse than the biggest Sunday paper. Not one, but 2 insert sections FULL of ads. Ah, nothing like delivering newspapers on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day mornings At least there were tips at Christmas!! :2dollar: sometimes
  10. You need the folding chair more INSIDE BB then outside.
  11. Telling the people in front of me nearly anything to get them to leave the line and improve my odds of getting what I want. Wait, I'm sorry HE made me do it!!
  12. Unfortunately for you this year, I'd have to guess that the best time to buy an artificial tree would be just after Christmas. Beyond that, the next 2 best times would probably be BF or in some places on Christmas Eve maybe. Some stores will have special one day sales between BF and Christmas -often a Wed or Sat - that may help you save some money at least, in the event you don't want to wait. As for the 3games etc - as I said, today may not have been the best or even a really good deal, but it appears to me that a lot of people are looking for it, so I just wanted them to be aware of a possibly good deal.
  13. Hey GameBoy fans, thought you might want to be aware of Meijer's One Day Sale TODAY! Sat Nov 20 (sorry for no notice, but I just got the flyer) I don't know if this is a great deal or not, but since so many people seem to be looking for a game boy deal, here it is anyway: GameBoy Advance SP Holiday Bundle, which includes 2 free games and a carrying case. $79.84 -while supplies last in stores ONLY (I believe it said 4000 chainwide) see stores or online www.meijer.com for flyer & further details if interested. We Meijers!! Bring on the BF doorbusters!! Also a truly great deal there today is the ever popular $1.99 film processing
  14. Meijer One Day Sale TODAY! This includes the ever popular $1.99 film processing I don't know if this is a great deal or not, but since so many people seem to be looking for a game boy deal, here it is anyway: GameBoy Advance SP Holiday Bundle, which includes 2 free games and a carrying case. $79.84 hurry -while supplies last (I believe it said 4000 chainwide) We Meijers!! Bring on the BF doorbusters!!
  15. Nope, they're just gonna sell stuff in the parking lot. Heeere's your sign! I'm sorry - that was mean , but it's late and that was too easy Probably only at the 24hr walmarts - doubt the others would open all night just to give stuff away.
  16. So if you're having a lousy Thanksgiving Day at somebody else's house, you can use their phone to call Target and request an obnoxious 4am wake-up call , thus salvaging some holiday joy!! That's just too funny. Let's see if they do THAT again next year!!
  17. No, I don't think you can. I'm just glad when I can see the ads online there. On the other hand, that is one of Meijer's selling points - no loyalty/tracking cards - no bs - just low prices. Plus, in some areas they will PM!! (I finally got to use the elephant! )
  18. Always ask a manager or higher. Always write down their name, title and the time you spoke to them. You probably won't get it, but ask for it in writing!
  19. Midnight Madness - The Shopping Edition!! NO sleeping allowed!! Great catch little*miss*a!!
  20. Such a cheerful attitude. No wonder Lowe's is doing so well! On a semi serious note- am I right in thinking that the only thing they can truly prevent is the posting of an actual ad? or is it much more complicated?
  21. Now that's funny!! I wonder how they do the "phone authentication" - couldn't you just borrow somebody's phone and set them up? or just provide the right info for your friend's phone? (personally I can think of some people I'd like to dedicate the 4am crying baby call to! ) While on that subject, I would like to protest the choices for "who I want to wake up with". I would have to say none of the choices listed there!!
  22. Only if I go to a store that is not in my neighborhood because I don't want to mess up my new BuzzBarry profile!!
  23. motoXmom - sorry to report there is apparently no Meijer within 50 miles of Mentor (according to mapquest). You will have to check the Meijer web site to see where the closest store is, since the store locator lists the stores instead of showing a map.
  24. since luckycharm didn't answer my specific question, I looked it up myself - it's like shopping at walmart or target! So maybe the reason there was no reply is that there is not REALLY a 5.1X Zoom - that's an "effective" zoom devised to sound better - digital zoom just crops the picture, doesn't truly "zoom". The true specs are 3x optical, 1.7x Digital Zoom. Now, this may be sufficient for most people, and it is certainly better than cameras with ONLY digital zoom and no optical zoom available, but it's misleading at best to promote only the "effective" zoom number. The shame is that it's probably a decent product, meaning there is no need to fudge the specs. That just undercuts your credibility and is counterproductive to plugging your company!
  25. mjjandz - walmart usually does 12-13 circulars per year. You can sign up for e-mail updates at their website. Since this is my first year subscribing to those e-mails, I'm not sure if they will send the BF info, but I expect that they will. To me the real question will be WHEN will they send it! Probably late on Thurday.
