  1. We switched about a year ago. The phones do not sync with outlook and have several limitations, but over all we are happy with it. If your phone goes bad just buy another, though. They are known for really bad service. My wife's went bad while still under warranty. After spending 3 hours on the phone "troubleshooting" they were supposed to replace it. They never did, and I spent another 2 hours arguing with people before I gave up. I think we will get a couple of these deals just to have backup phones.
  2. Best buy has a Dynex™ - 46" Class / 1080p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV Model: DX-46L150A11 for $499.99. Link: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dynex%26%23153%3B+-+46%22+Class+/+1080p+/+60Hz+/+LCD+HDTV/9605116.p?id=1218131141989&skuId=9605116&st=9605116&cp=1&lp=1&ref=36&loc=1
  3. I don't know, the video stores around us do pretty well. There is something to be said for a better selection and knowing you can rent a movie when it first comes out. This ad does me no good though, because our local blockbusters never honor these ads.
  4. I just got word that everything except the doorbusters will go on sale at midnight. Door busters at 5:00 AM. And my house is clean!
  5. never fear. someone will "accidenlty" send a copy of the ad early.
  6. Sorry to disapoint you, but it is probably not going to work out. Unless you are there hours (or days) early you will be waiting in line to enter the store and all the good stuff will be gone.
  7. The confusion last year was with the way whe ad was worded. It said all day friday and saturday. Since all day starts at midnight some managers were afraid of false advertising and let you buy the stuff early, even though walmart clearly meant after 5:00. I imagine that little bug will have been fixed this year.
  8. Sorry guys, turned out to be a bust. She just knows when the stuff is comming in, not what it is. I made my kids work so hard to clean the house, too:rolleyes:. Let you know when I get something more valuable.
  9. I notice the rollbacks when they are about to raise prices... they put the new price as the original price and the rollback price as the price you were already paying.
  10. My wife just got a job with walmart not too long ago. She came home today and told me she has some intel, but I have to clean the house to get it. Somebody else please leak something!!!!! I have a really big house.
  11. lol. Yep, sure did. I was thinking there might be something good as a "secret sale" like they did the year before. We got in line Tuesday that year, and Tuesday night tent city poped up. It is amazing what happens when people think you know something they don't. One guy got really upset when we left early Thursday because he was not planning on getting in line until Thursday morning. Said we made everyone line up early by being on the news. I regret that after 17 Black Fridays this may be my last. The deals are just not there any more. I have not spent more than $200 the last two years on Black Friday (less than 10 % of my budget) when I used to spend it all. I hope this year will change my mind.
  12. I have brought my kids with me every year since they were little. We have only had one year where I worried about anyone's safety and it was the guys jumping in line, not the kids. More likely to be bit by a shark swimming than be caught up in anything like that. They enjoy camping with dad and telling all their friends they were on TV (happens almost every year). It has always been about the deals with me, although the last 2 years the deals have been lacking. 2 years ago I actually got out of line early Thursday morning because there was nothing I wanted when the last minute sales did come out. We had to scramble to get a thanksgiving dinner ready (apparently pizza and chips not good enough for thanksgiving unless you are in line to get the wife a new laptop). lol. I think we have this discussion every year on this site, and every year I still think it is OK to bring young children as long as you have a plan, enough help and equipment to keep them warm, fed and safe, and are responsible enough to handle the stress and crowd size. Not for everyone, but definitely works for us.
  13. I will save them all. If anyone needs one PM me and I will send it to you.
  14. Hope this is helpful. My Setup is as follows: (keep in mind that I have been doing this since 1992, and we add 1 thing to our arsenal every year… you will probably not want to get all of this at once) A. 2 tents (1 large and 1 small) – Put the smaller inside the larger... sleep inside the smaller one, put your supplies and catalytic heater inside the larger one. Then you don’t have to worry about stuff disappearing B. 2 heaters – one tent safe catalytic heater (the larger the better, get one with a fan) and a propane or kerosene heater (we use a patio heater, but in the beginning we has one of those deals that sits on top of your propane tank) for when you are outside. You will also want some extra fuel C. Fold out chairs – 1 per person D. 1 or 2 small tables to set your drinks on, etc. E. Plenty of food and drinks F. A buddy to hold your spot when you have to go to the bathroom G. Having someone to bring you hot meals is great, if there is no one to do that bring a grill and some food in a cooler. Chips and soda get pretty old after 3 or 4 or 6 days H. Have a plan to go to the bathroom. We bring our RV. In the past we have used Wal-Mart or the waffle house… do some research and find out what is open I. Bring something to keep you occupied. A book, movies, games, etc. There is a lot of time spent sitting. J. 2 blankets per person… one goes under you and one goes on top of you. If you only bring 1 your butt and the back of your legs gets pretty cold. The one on top helps to diffuse the heat from the heater so your pants don’t get super hot, it also helps to cover your head when you get tired of the 1026th person wants to talk to you about how crazy you are K. If you have stuff to plug in a generator is useful. We no longer bring ours, though. More trouble than it was worth. L. A list to keep track of who is in what position. Saved our butts 1 year when we got a lot of line jumpers right when they were starting to hand out the tickets. Also helps to keep everyone honest. If you are the first one there people really look to you for leadership (even if you do not know what you are doing). M. Dress in layers, bring a change of clothes just in case. N. Extra copies of the ads always seems to be useful. O. How you tear down is pretty important, too. Do not take anything down until you get your tickets. If you do everyone follows suit and there is a big jumbled line for no reason. I have the largest setup I know, and my wife and I get it down in 1 hour just fine. P. Keep your heater until the last possible moment. It gets really cold really fast. I normally set mine inside the door when they open it up and pick it up on the way out. You may want to clear this with the manager, though. One year I had to leave it outside, but it was still there when I finished shopping. Q. Get in the checkout line early. Have your partner grab one thing and get about 20 people back in line. By the time you finish the rest of your shopping, they should be close. Give everything to them, go get your heater, then head to your car and make sure everything is packed up and ready for your pile of goodies.
  15. I know you were joking, but it is actually a good idea. We put our kids in bright shirts that have our pictures and cell numbers on them any time we go to anything like this. Only ever lost 1 for about 2 minutes, but when we found him someone was getting ready to dial our number. I am surprised no one sells something like that (and sending me royalties :2dollar:).
  16. Are you talking to me? You didn't even come by and say hello. lol
  17. lol. Almost exactly what I was going to say. Come on, Brad... How about a shirt for those who posted to the "how about a shirt" thread.
  18. 1992 is the first year I remember doing it (may have gone a few times before that tagging along with the parrents). The "deal" I got that year I never ended up giving as a gift and is still wrapped and in a tote in the garage. Can you believe my wife calls me a pack-rat (lol). Things were a lot different back then. First in line got there an hour or two before the store opened. Funny how things change.
  19. I think you should take out the word probably.
  20. Not an easy fix unless you know anything about computers. I would recomend upgrading (once you do you will never go back). There are a few ways to do it without upgrading to dsl. The easiest way is to go to your network settings, share your lan connection with other computers, hi-light both your lan and dialup connections, right click and select bridge conections, then plug a wireless router into the ethernet port on your desktop. It will be very slow (about 5 to 10 times slower than your current dial up speed) but whenever your computer is connected to the internet you could get on wirelessly with your laptop. Private message me if you do this and have any questions (I probably won't be back to this thread). It may be a couple days before I answer as we are moving this weekend. Good luck.
  21. AT&T sent me a letter telling me if I ever got another smart phone I would have to carry the data plan, so they are right.
  22. No mention of secret sales in the ad. Looks like I will skip BB this year.
