I know this is not the answer you want to hear, but it depends. I now live in a major city with about 10 walmarts nearby... the smaller ones here sell out faster because people think they will have better luck there and do not go to the big ones. When I lived in the sticks the larger one sold out faster. My advice, go to both this year to plan for next year.

Your best bet is to wait in line. Sorry, it looks like that one is not available online this year.

Seen Better. If you need it for a gift and want the blu-ray drive I would buy it but keep looking. Only bad thing about that is if you pay with cash you will have to wait about 2 weeks to get your money back via check.

Went by BB to snoop today. Saw an eMachine el1200 desktop with a 19" monitor "upgrade" for $318 good through Sunday. Interesting thing was it was $339 for a 17" monitor. Black Friday signage mix-up? Also saw a bunch (maybe 100) of HP laptops wrapped in black plastic sitting in a back corner near the guitar hero games. I was being watched so I couldn't get a model number... Maybe the $499 one, maybe not.

I have seen 120GB hard drives (probably SATA) in the newer ones.

True that. The "one per household" limit stops my kids from getting them (unless I disown them ). I have heard of a one-per-credit-card limit, too. never had a problem with that one, though.

Last year my "door buster" TV was not ticketed. My wife handled getting it, though, so I do not remember a lot of the details. It was the $1500 one, though, and not the cheep-o one (My wifes choice, I personally would have gone for the cheep-o one).

They are a lot bigger than that now... still not a laptop, though. If you are considering one I would go to the store in the next 3 days and talk to a sales associate. It will give you time to make up your mind before "crunch time."

I never had a problem with my kids getting tickets. Last year my 9 yr old daughter saved up her allowance all year and bought a $229 laptop. I just called 888-Best-Buy and talked to a supervisor. They said if my 2 yr old wanted a ticket for an item he could get it as long as he could tell the sales person what he wanted. Hope this helps.

Any one heard anything yet? I heard about there possibly being another $229 Laptop.

A couple good deals. The GPS is Black Friday price and Nero 9 not a bad deal.

You will have to check with your local store. My guess is that since Home Depot is not in their market they would not, but every once in a while you find a kind hearted manager that will do it for you. Good Luck

Is that a good deal on the patio heater? It would make me lots of friends in line next year.

I would not expect any additional discounts on Black Friday. They are not really CC any more... everything is owned by the liquidator.
-
Why are you kidding? OK, I am just kidding. Please don't ban me.
-
I don't think so. I have not heard anything yet. Maybe next week.

I agree. I have been doing BB for as long as I can remember, but last year I would have done CC if not for the last minute specials. I expected a really bad ad this year, harder for the other retailers to match your deals if they do not know what they really are until last minute. I expect everyone will be excited about BB in 14 days.

I got that deal last year. I got my 10 free disks plus 5 free by mail. Loved the format war!

Her point was she did not want me to go this year. She normally does not stay the night anyway, only the kids (6, 7, & 9) do.

My wife got out of bed early this morning, went to Walmart, got a $298 laptop, and now tells me we do not need to camp out at BB because the laptop was the only thing we needed this year. We have done Black Friday ever since we have been married, and the kids really look forward to camping out every year. Any suggestions?

Wife went to walmart yesterday to find out about the specifics... store manager had no clue, electronics manager had no clue, hourly employee knew where the machines were in the back, but did not know much else... Walmart secret sales continue to be super secret. They offered to let my wife buy one for giving them the heads up, but it was not on sale yet . Guess I will have to wait in line like everyone else. This will be my backup incase BF at BB does not go my way.

I am using the $229 laptop, too. Had to upgrade the ram, though.

K-Mart does have some pretty big disadvantages, though. Their stores are generally cluttered and a lot of items do not have any prices. I have gone there 2 or 3 times this year to find they did not stock or sold out of last week the items in their sales ad (when I go I get there Sunday right as they open). Another time I had a manager who she said she had the items I wanted but they were on the top shelf behind some other boxes and was very upset with me because I made her go get them. I live in a big city, too, with 2 of them near me and a third within driving distance. Still, though, my wife loves to check out their clearance items and has found some really good deals that way. As for me, I would rather go to Wal-mart... too many bad experiences.

Did not find any good items last year. 2006 was a good year on staples.com. 2005 found a few good items. Seems to get worse every year. Maybe this year will be the exception, but I doubt it.
