I don't know much about computers so please take it easy on me for asking. I was thinking about taking our older DS laptop with me on Black Friday to maybe do some shopping online or checking GD while sitting in my car before anyone else shows up. Now how do I do this? Do I need something to be able to use it in my Explorer? I've never done this so I have no idea. I've seen people with laptops in their cars before in parking lots- doing what I don't know but I know I've see it. Can anyone help me -in laymens terms! He has a Dell if that makes a difference!? lol Thanks! Oh and one more question is it ok to leave it in a truck like that if it's really cold outside? Will anything happen to it? I don't want to mess it up.

How Many Hours Do You Spend Shopping On Black Friday??
motoXmom replied to sleepyshopper's topic in 2006
From the time I leave the house to the time I get back usually is at least about 12 hrs. I know once I stop that's it and I drop dead! ROFLMAO Last year I got home and my DH took one look at me and said "Wow Honey you look like H3LL". Oh yes I did! My eyes were totally bloodshot and just about dropped. I was so tired I couldn't even think straight, just glad I could make it home without getting into an accident. This year DH asked about shopping online while I'm at the stores. So I think I'll have a little help which is great. And hey if we happen to get doubles I'll return whatever to the store later so I'm not worried about that. -
Yep it's happened to me before and it's so hard to keep quiet. I have been know (by DH) to give in and give DS something small for really good grades or whatever excuse I can come up with. With bigger ticket items like XBox or whatever I won't give in. I like to see his face opening it up. I usually drive my DH crazy with singing "I know what you got for Christmas, and I'm not gonna tell ya"! ROFL

OMG that's too funny! When I get up before him when he comes out I have a hard time giving up the computer. Then when I do I keep watching him outta the corner of my eye to see when he's closing out. LOL Now That's Bad!

That's what I was wondering too. I always buy my Sunday papers from a newspaper box because when we did subscribe it was thrown in the only puddle around, somewhere in the snowbank, or someone steals it. Going to the paperboxes explains how I got the 4 kittens I have now I'm fostering! LOL

Oh I love that! Nice job with those! The only thing I can think of is "I may be slow but I'm ahead of you". Seen it on a bumper sticker. -
ROFL Yep I go shopping in Mentor right near the lake so we get the "lake effect". Last year it was well below freezing and white-out conditions with the snow blowing horizontal. It was just Nasty but that still wasn't enough to keep me home. If it ever really got bad I probably would stay home, I'm not about to kill myself or someone else to get a good deal. But again I say only if it's REALLY bad out.

Teachers Gifts-What do you get, how much do you spend?

After seen the blanket with the ties around the edges I think this may be what I'm doing, in the school colors. -
Oh I LOVE wrapping everything. I love to see how many different ways to use ribbon, tie ons, or whatever to decorate the packages. One year my MIL told me she was running behind and didn't know when or if she'd get to wrapping everyones stuff so I told her I'd do it. Well she had a roomFULL! LOL Once in awhile she'd come to see if I was ok and kept passing a beer around the door of the bedroom! It was too funny! I told her if she kept giving me beer I'm not responsible what they look like in the end. They turned out fine.

Well right around the $10 is the Ove Glove! I love those things! But since mine are still in great shape I have no idea.

We're LUCKY to hold them off long enough for the coffee to finish brewing and get our first cup poured. ROFL They know mama ain't Alive without at least my first sip!

There are a lot of good ideas here. I've thought about this so much lately. I don't want my son hurt in anyway by anyone so I'd like to be the one to sit down and talk to him but haven't been able to think of what to say or how to say it.

ROFL Can I go with you!? j/k I'm only 5'1 1/2 (gotta get that half inch in there). Sometimes it's great because I can squeeze into the crowd for whatever item I'm trying to get my hands on and other times it's too easy to get pushed around!

Our town is small too but I have found out the hard way you have to be up Very early TG morning to get one. I usually buy 2 because normally you can bet there's one or more inserts missing and sometimes you'll get double or triple of another one.

Every year we buy a pile of toys for the Toys for Tots program. Donovan likes to pick out stuff he thinks they would like. Plus he says it makes him feel good. We also buy hats, gloves and scarves for them too. When I was growing up my mom and dad took us kids to shop for families within our church that couldn't afford anything for Christmas. We always had a lot of fun doing it. We'd also get them food, like a big ham, turkey or whatever and a bunch of stuff to help fill their shelves. Many years mom and I would go and get frozen turkeys and leave them at the front door of some of the peoples homes that we knew couldn't afford one, sometimes mom would send me up to the door with it and I'd ring the bell and run like He!! while she'd be waiting around the corner for me in the car. LOL It's always so cold here we didn't have to worry about them thawing.

I know what you mean. One year I was a few away from the door when a group of teenage girls and women came up to the first couple people in line just a few minutes before the doors were to open. I couldn't believe they were so rude to show up and think ONE person has the right to hold all their spots when the rest of us had stood out there for hours. I think about 8 or 9 had come and casually talked until the doors opened and ran in like everyone else. I just don't think that's right. I mean Hey I have 20 friends coming so just give me their Big Ticket Doorbuster items and when they get here I'll make sure they get 'em. Umm yea right.

Since my mom died in 2000 we have my father over for all holiday dinners. So it'll be the 4 of us, my dad and soon to be daughter in law. LOL I think it's funny how now it's them that have to do 2 meals in one day thing. They spend some time here then go over to her parents and eat again and spend some time with them. I'm glad those days are over for DH and I, even though we still go over to visit.

See the thread "When does your tree go up?" Umm yea I have no advice! ROFLMAO
