  1. This is very good advice. Also remember to get your paper(s) early! Many stores run out and it becomes a mad dash around town for the coveted ads, only to find out that someone had stripped the only remaining copy clean of your favorite ads!
  2. You definitely have to put on a game face. You will get the most sincere people and people who mock you. I have seen it all. Keep in mind that this mindset comes from the media coverage that they receive on a nightly basis. I started getting heavy media coverage in 2010 and by 2011, they were waking us up with spot lights! We were featured on CNN, ABC, NBC, FOX, and all of their affiliates. I am still finding our videos on different websites who list them as their favorite. Like Klownicle said, you get people who will mess with you. I actually like the Train horn people. I should post a tidbit online that will give the first train horn drive-by who posts a video of us (showing our banner, complete with the Gottadeal endorsement) will get a free Tee shirt!
  3. Trust me, many people post their frustrations online, only to shop anyway. The statistics don't lie, and last year's tally is the reason Best Buy must compete in this fashion.
  4. The link on most sites suggest that The insignia is, in fact a 60hz LED.
  5. We talked about this happening after You clued me in on it. In my area, the word on the street was a 6-8 PM. Even the eateries knew about it since Best Buy's meeting on tuesday! It was "Unofficial", so I put it out as a rumor.
  6. Did you notice the frenzy yesterday? Early yesterday, Walmart experienced a large influx of shoppers trying to get items at supposedly Black Friday Prices. items were selling out in minutes. $300 50 inch TV, $329 46 in LED TV, etc. If you were late to the party, you got a nested loop where their logo constantly snowed into your ever refilling shopping cart! In other news, I did get the 10.1 inch XELIO tablet....Rated a 3 out of 5 so far....
  7. This is why everyone who shops late at Wally World should look in every nook and cranny!
  8. I am playing with the Walmart 10.1 inch tablet right now. Compared to my galaxy tab, it is lacking in raw processing power and it does not have very good range for the WiFi. The camera is ok, and the on-board memory is going to be problematic. Thank goodness for the micro-sd slot! I still have to load the sd card with pre-loaded movies, music, and pictures to accurately gauge the viability of this thing.
  9. http://www.wgrz.com/video/1291148240001/1/Black-Friday-campers-start-early One guy dresses up as Tigger to stay warm.... Tampa campers go bigtime... http://www.redlasso.com/entertainment/black-friday-campers-have-new-strategy/
  10. I knew that 2011 got our crew National attention, but one member here had an interesting post about a news report in Buffalo NY, that led me to a video.....of myself! I had completely forgotten about the affiliates that used the interview from Gannet new services. Buffalo was one of two cities from my childhood that convinced me to move south as an adult. Blizzards of '67 in Chicago, and '77-'78 in Buffalo were all the snow i needed to last a lifetime!
  11. http://www.wgrz.com/video/1291054018001/0/Shoppers-Camp-Out-Days-Ahead-of-Black-Friday Okay guys, it looks like the guy doing the shopping is me! I am absolutely stunned that I had not found this video sooner.
  12. Perhaps this ties in with the restrictions placed upon us that actually camp. I thought the time limit imposed had fit in perfectly, with the notion that they didn't want the potential of having a two week camp out due to the launch of the XBOX ONE. Could some sinister Billionaire be trying to muck up the holidays? Stay tuned folks, it is going to be interesting, if not prankish!
  13. Poor conception copy cat game. Like others have said, the kids become bored due to the lack of depth in the gameplay. 15 minutes of gameplay, and you will be ready to take them back, so save the box and packing material!http://www.penny-arcade.com/report/article/an-expensive-letdown-disney-infinity-offers-glimpses-of-fun-through-poor-ex
  14. That's why I camp with a police officer!
  15. http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/bc2ea57608/black-friday-thanksgiving Last year's Black Friday Thanksgiving....
  16. No need for that. Like Bigjimslade said, it is officially cancelled. My wife informed me that as of the Best Buy announcement (which is going to happen) she will no longer be doing Best Buy thanksgiving dinners on the grounds due to the early opening! Saturday is again the new Thursday. We had planned another 2 table spread this year, but that tradition is blown out of the water. If anyone cares to see our previous dinners, they (videos) are on the web!
  17. If they NEED it for classes, instead of social networking during classes as some end up doing, then you should look for a Dual core processor based android. Wifi is easy to get, especially with smartphones having hotspot capability. We will see which ones pop up in the mix in a week or so. Go for a 9 inch or a 10.1.
  18. It seems to be an internal problem for Walmart. Reports vary, but where they establish line queues they have great success. Attitudes have to change for Walmart or it is only going to get worse. Did you notice that the first reaction of the pepper spray perpetrator was to sue Walmart when she found out that she would not be charged?
  19. Starbucks?
  20. Wild articles from 2011 Walmart, of course! http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2011/11/black-friday-violence-shopping-pepper-spray.html http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/money/industries/retail/story/2011-11-25/black-friday-walmart/51399030/1
  21. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2011/11/black-friday-violence-shopping-pepper-spray.html Here are some top Walmart stories of tasing, spraying, and other crazy things going on at your local favorite!
  22. I think there was a story somewhere on that, but let me check. I do know that the pepper spray woman got away with it.
  23. Sadly, projectors will never seem to be a high demand item, so even though they have seen discounts, there has not been a significant sale in recent memory. I have a refurbished Epson, installed in 2006. I am finally giving up the fight to upgrade it on Black Friday. It has been flipped for cash and will be replaced by a 50 inch plasma from the living room. Keep checking the Epson website for refurbished deals. The prices have been favorable.
  24. We were just informed that the maximum allowable campout at Best Buy is 5 days. This is an interesting turn of events, but not unheard of. Permission to camp during entire the week of Black Friday has always been ok, but the 8 to 10 days that we have seen in the last two years was a bit of a stretch even for us. This seems to be a re-affirmation of that stance. They want the coverage, but not the liability.
  25. Just because someone disagrees with the new shipping policy doesn't mean that they aren't any less saavy than you are. Without constructive complaints, we would never have productive changes that benefit all consumers. With the new change, you will obviously lose some customers. Others will just find other means to make the deal work in their favor. Amazon is not in it to lose out this season, so there are going to be some very strange fillers to augment your shopping taste. I liked the Mod's example, but believe that Amazon will push quite a few Blurays out the door in the $3-$5 range to turn some heads. They really excell at price-matching, so consider sending them frequent messages to get that item at a lower competitive price.
