  1. I do not recommend going to their forum. Not only will you find it difficult to navigate, but you will also find the site littered with extremely opinionated and biased people, who indicate that they have no affiliation with Best Buy, although their actions speak volumes to the contrary. If you must ask a question there, target the question to a moderator only, and specifically ask that others stay out of your conversation with them (politely, of course!). When and if you get a response, take it to personal chat, or private message.
  2. There was a thread on another site where the OP got hammered for being too jumpy. Before the line was exposed as PS4 campers, many fell for it and jumped on the band wagon of haters. In other news, the Blue Sunday sale at Best Buy may muddy the waters between early campers and early morning shoppers to the exclusive sale, so stay tuned for this inevitable train-wreck! Closing this PS4 thread. You can report on any new lines or camping activity on the revamped camping and line thread.
  3. I am going to go out on a limb and say that unless you are camping, or are an Elite/Elite Plus customer, your chances will be very slim on this unit.
  4. It is both. The better deal is learning not to buy trash TVs from Walmart in the first place. They do have nice TVs, but seldom sell them as their loss leaders. Walmart does have some standouts this year, but most are easy to pick through as undesirable.
  5. Although Dual core is a preferred feature, many of these cheaper tablets suffer from inferior WiFi modules. One thing that I do like is the capability to expand the storage capacity of android devices through the use of the micro-SD card slot. I would personally opt for the Dual core 10.1 for $99. I have many more uses for these tablets, so WiFi is not a deal breaker for me.
  6. It is looking like the lack of a deal was driven by the manufacturers, not the stores. There is nothing like a superior product with all of the bugs worked out already on the shelves that could potentially steal the thunder of your newly launched, often buggy first generation offering.
  7. Another store, the same story: Walmart will price match, but not on Blitz items which have a unique bar-code. I will give you an example. Walmart puts "Promo" on their Bluray and DVDs at special blitz prices. They normally cover up the old bar-code, so it will not ring up the same. Let's say the bluray movie "Flight" is $6.96. You have the ad from target, and you want to price match it, since it is $5.00 in their ad. Since the promo items have their own bar-code, you cannot match it, unless you go get a non-promo copy of the same movie. You can then match the price to their sale price, sometimes grudgingly so be nice! it is always the small items which yield the best results at Walmart. I hope this clears up a lot of confusion. We have the nicest people on here. We may not always agree, but at the end of the day we should always try our best to maintain this site as the only place where people feel that they can be civil to each other. Agree to disagree, and ask questions often.
  8. As promised, I have the response from Walmart: Thank you for your message.(my content was omitted, since I had already covered this ground) Dear Ray, Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your inquiry. Walmart will match local competitor's ads for exact items (all things identical, description, brand, etc.) Except: Gimmick Ads (Percents off, buy one get one free ads without a specified price, you must make additional purchases to receive a discounted price, etc.) Local competition is usually a radius area around a store and is determined by the Store Manager and the Market Manager. If you are having problems with price matching, please contact your local store management. Sincerely, Walmart Customer Care
  9. I had a lengthy conversation with our Best Buy manager. She said that there would be 3 lines. The second line would be allowed to form after they determined that the first line was technically inside the store. From the look of things, it is not a very popular approach to mimic Walmart in this regard. It will virtually be impossible for all of us to enter the store, and then rejoin a new line. We are going to split up our team and attempt to score some of the midnight offerings. We are also Elite Plus, so we may not have to do very much else, or even bother with the third sale. She did state that the main sale would be in the first wave. I then asked her about tickets. Each wave will have ticketed items. The amount of time to collect your ticketed items has been shortened by at least 2 hours, so this may not be very good for some stores. One final clue to the lack of mad dash items (after the first wave) was basically a no comment response, again, not good for people expecting a restocked store.

  12. That pretty much sums it up. Closing thread.
  13. This is a true statement, only in the respect that they do a phenomenal job of trying to not offer anything that the competition might have on that day. This is why you see them offer loss leading brands such as Emerson. Target counters with Element and Apex, etc. That is the Christmas ad match i have been talking about. This is for external purchases where you bring the receipt for a product already purchased(at another store) into the store for a match. The best advice was given on tonight's webcast. Go to your own Walmart and hash this out with them. Make sure you talk of both policies and their distinct differences. I have already implored of the Execs at Walmart to send out an explanation and clarification to all managers.
  14. The ad clearly states that they will for the exact item. Here is where you are directed to when you click on the ad:http://challenge.walmart.com/lowpriceguarantee/ Then you will see "See full policy for Details" and you will be directed here:http://corporate.walmart.com/ad-match-guarantee We can't be any more clear on the match policy in force on Black Friday, as well as the Thursday that precedes it. Please do not confuse it with the Christmas ad match. All items must be purchased in-store at Walmart during the hours specified on the competitors ad. You cannot purchase the item elsewhere and bring the receipt in for a match or a giftcard award.
  15. Only 2 hours?
  16. All wishes have been granted! Ad is out. I have to look at the ad in detail, but the Lord of the Rings movie cover appears to be the infamous "Trilogy" cover from Target a few years back. This could mean that the people that do not already own the extended version can pick up this inexpensive set.

    Sale Time

    Ad is out. Closing thread.
  18. With the advent of Tablets, you can download the ads to your tablet and keep them handy. I wouldn't absolutely say that the printed ad is obsolete, but it has lost a bit of it's prominence since digital editions are now at your fingertip. I love the printed ads, so I will be doing both.
  19. Yes! Stay away from Coby this year. Reports are that they are going out of business.
  20. Man, the way the ads have been breaking this morning, you would think that the theme song in the background would be This:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B2NUqBs3TQ
  21. I do give credit to Bigjimslade for making me get out there and dig it up! (Chances are, he knew this all along, hehehe)Now we have to see if Best Buy will be late to the party due to a reprint of the ad....... or this was in the works the whole time.
  22. Exactly! Purchases must be bought and matched at the register with the ad in hand at the time specified in the competitor's ad!! Talk to your local CSM to make sure they have it right, some obviously don't know their own policy yet. Remember that some associates are seasonal.
  23. For larger items, like televisions, it is hard to get a match. Their policy is quite clear on matching items exactly. Black Friday price matching at Walmart has always tended to be time sensitive. If the ad says Target's sale on Blurays that you are matching is going from that 8-11 AM time frame(example, not real time) and you are standing there ready to price match at 11:30 AM and they notice the time, you are out of luck. There have been situations where a person has lined up and has let the CSM know it is a time sensitive match. That person will be allowed the match in most cases where time has elapsed while waiting in line, so long as a CSM knows you are waiting on them to check you out.
  24. I would ask permission and show the manager how it would be utilized. The hat idea is a good one. Just think cat in the hat.
  25. The special edition has been selling out. This does not appear to be a winning situation, price-wise. If it is the PS3 version you are after, Toys R US still has it. If you purchase it now, keep the receipt.
