  1. Perhaps later this week. There could be an October surprise, and Brad can't be caught sleeping!
  2. Since the Money Gods have smiled down upon me, I would be willing to do a Hot Toy preview. The top ten toys requested would make the show. I would even be willing to do a toys for boys one week, and a toys for girls specialty show the next. Having raised five children, and have four grandchildren, it always pays to be up on the latest craze.
  3. I would like to start a skype meetup group to discuss Black Friday and all of the various topics that are of the most important nature to us. We can have up to 10 people at a time, as long as they are on a device that supports it. Phones and tablets may experience audio only, so we will have to experiment with those. Skype will allow you to join late if you need to. We can decide who chats for the hour if more than ten are interested. I would also schedule another meetup in case the desire to talk on the scheduled evening is overwhelming. We can also discuss how we want to manage the chat, rules to make things run smoothly, and if you want it led or monitored. We have had some great chats in the past, and by signing up for skype, we can put a face to the great people here and make it even more memorable. Please respond with your skype information by sending me a message. That way, i can keep your info private, while having you for all future meetups in my profile. I realize that this is quite a bit different from what Bigjimslade has done, but at the same time, it is not meant as a replacement for his program. If this is successful, perhaps I can do this while camped out at Best Buy to give you live information and stories.
  4. I used to love KMart. When their grocery gambit failed, they quickly started to slide downhill. My experience was like yours, but quite a few years ago. They had pulled ALL of the PC games up and locked up all of the console games. If you do not trust the clientele, then the customers get the message loud and clear that your business is not wanted. I made it a rule to only shop must have deals, and that put me in the store about twice annually. Imagine if others came to this same conclusion. You always saw a dozen or so cars on the parking lot, but Walmart was packed.
  5. Best Buy, Steam Wallet card, and some kind of prepaid gas card if they have one.
  6. Definitely Kohls. I will accompany the wife there from time to time, and am impressed with their offerings and coupon structure. We also like Ross.
  7. Just couldn't pull the trigger. I usually buy at least $50 or more (justifiably, not to get free shipping), or i go elsewhere.
  8. I understand that you, me, and others that are in the game become less excited but I remember in the early 2000's when nothing got better, and one year i didn't even go out, since the sales were just that bad. I try to have a different outlook, helping others and making an assessment of old stock creates needs that may be overlooked until it is too late. I will be looking for a 75 inch 1080p, a reciever, HD 3D projector, and other replacement items that will obviously make their way onto my list this year. I usually have a sale of older items to bring an extra kick to the bankroll.
  9. He usually chimes in by now. He must be extremely busy.
  10. I am fortunate enough to have the resources available on that fine day.
  11. Perhaps Brad could answer that.
  12. Here was the list that was added to the 2006 sale but for a few websites would be lost forever: Document 2006 Best Buy Adscan.rtf
  13. Most of the negative reviews seem to come from purists or those who do not know how to adjust a TV set. There are many more negative people these days. They take the fun right out of the event if you let them. The TVs we bought for our church in 2006 were Westinghouse 720p 42 and 32 inch sets and people did the poo-poo dance all over those back in the day. I remember some church members that lamented the idea and cost, but 9 years later they are still in service.
  14. An ad from a hardware store is like a 22 day campout in front of Best Buy. It is kind of pointles, but it sure gets everyones attention!
  15. Are you talking about two seperate transactions? I would consider anyone who gets an adjustment against corporate policy extremely lucky, especially if the sku numbers are different. Walmart has always been particular about pricing during BF hours, especially if you are matching a competitor's product with the same sku. I am glad that you were able to get the deal. Walmarts in our area have rather draconian methods of denying adjustments and treat you like a criminal if you attempt to use something like an internet coupon.
  16. :grandpa:Well, I am getting old! Ever since the emphasis changed with store hours and Black November in general, I have considered this timeframe Black Friday worthy. That was when I was a Moderator for the Black Friday season. Good times!
  17. Another embarrassment should be the ghost deals that vaporize before your very eyes.
  18. Is this posting relevant to the Black Friday timeframe, or is it just problems with Walmart in general?
  19. I have seen soundbars at big lots for $40. No subwoofer. Dubious quality but then if you want better, black Friday netted me a Sony with subwoofer for $68
  20. They are literally around the corner from best buy, and if the opening times align just right I wouldn't mind stopping by for my well deserved patrol dog.
  21. I have often heard of the prizes at pets mart. Can anyone offer information of the freebies that they received in years past?
  22. From some of the early price predictions, Nintendo does not consider the wii U old at all. Predicted at $249 on black Friday. Another cool toy is the Hot Wheels Ultimate Parking Garage by Mattel. If you have seen ads for Jet.com don't bother. Your mind will not be blown by their prices. Walmart has it for $88. It is touted as the largest garage ever, and for the price, it should be!
  23. You caught me, but I am from the way back black Friday crowd.
  24. Most of the adscans, especially Best Buy tell you what the savings are. Check out the one from 2004. Many televisions and other items were only marginally on sale, like $30 off.
  25. These days he can be found in the broadcasting room. Hopefully, he will chime in.
