There were many years where Black Friday shopping was just not practical. You rarely hear about shopping in the 1990's, but for us we started then and consistently started Black Friday shopping on 2001. There were two main destinations back then, and it was Comp USA in Jacksonville for me, and Walmart for the both of us. Comp USA would kick it off at midnight and then i would race back to our smaller town in Macclenny to join my wife at Walmart (the smallest original one) while mema would watch the kid. We kept this up until 2003 when i stumbled into a Best Buy to see what the fuss was all about, which led to a completely new type of Black Friday experience in 2006.

We bought quite a few items online at Best Buy. When the Elite sale went live we took advantage of it to reduce the mad dash factor. I will say that if you are camping out, it is a must! With more items online than ever, it helps to reduce the "Oh, I can't possibly be in three lines at once factor". Since most items were on a two day delivery schedule, most large items like the 60 inch doorbuster were left off the online list on purpose. For those who took advantage of the 60 inch Samsung deal on the front page, upon further investigation, the website updated the refresh rate down to 60hz. That confirmed my suspicions and I then opted for the 55 inch 4K Visio for $100 less. It still amazes me, after all these years how people show up at the last minute and then do nothing when other people cut in front of them. As the Mayor, I can not get involved in line disputes, only give advice to those affected. When you are given advice and just sit there, you deserve to come up emptyhanded. As always, those who show up on time and you develop a good rappour, the first ten to twenty have nothing to worry about and the group knows what to do about line cutters.

Killer is absolutely correct on Hdmi cables. They can be found on ebay as well. I recently bought a 40 ft gold plated hdmi cable with reinforced connectors and jacket for a song.

It makes sense that nobody tells you how to spend quality time with your family. I have been saying for years that Saturday is the new Thursday. Making memories by some regimented standard or when the government tells us just doesn't seem right. Being a former Marine, many celebrations were altered due to operational commitments. I learned to adjust family time to suit the needs of the family. If Wednesday is your time, that is great and i am glad that more people are catching on to this.
