1. Walmart. 2. Both days. 3. Thanksgiving, 2 PM.

It looks as if they are trying to blur the lines and not offer anything by offering standard fare/discount loss leaders during the entire week. Bad move on their part.

I usually go for their free paint giveaways and Velspar paint sale.

I would have left with a free player, upgraded to a Bluray model for not suing the store!

This thread ending answer deserves a Tee shirt!

The Kindle Fire, like the I Pad, has only so much storage space. This is it's biggest limitation, so Androids are much more attractive as the space limitation becomes an issue. The problem with Androids are that many under-performing clones and the best bet if you were to choose one would be with a name brand such as the Samsung Galaxy Tablet. If you are going to get a new contract with your carrier, the cost may not be as steep on BF. Like others have said, the Kindle will be your best overall bet, given the child's age, application cost, and device cost.

That happened to me at Walmart yesterday. The workers were stocking to the right and the left was blocked by two people with carts. I said that they were blocking the aisle and they copped an attitude. I responded that they were being rude(loudly), and you could here people in the distance giving the "here, here" of approval to the comment.

Given the option, most would choose that day off. Hiring more seasonal help is tantamount to disaster. The last thing you want is inexperienced help giving you the wrong advice or leading to the wrong product. They do have a choice and it was made when they signed on to work with the offending company. After more than two years into this new shopping scheme, if they weren't fully aware of their responsibility to work major events and holidays, it would certainly no longer be the fault of the company. The solution is unfortunately some sort of Blue law that prohibits store openings prior to Midnight. All of us wish things were different, but nobody should feel bullied or ashamed to go out and take advantage of the deals on this day.

Many have already hit the nail on the head. Traditional shoppers know that small children should remain at home. They also know what to expect and how to deal with others in a respectful manner. What many are experiencing is the worst of the convenience crowd, who now gladly take over where traditionalists cede to them. This is an entirely different animal. Rude, inexperienced, and prone to rush both to judgement and at the door, should the opportunity to do so arise. They bring ALL their children with them, as well as Auntie Mae and her 5 children. None have eaten. Half of them are running amok, and the other half need to tinkle. They steal your doorbusters by cutting in line with 5 friends who just happen to show up after a flurry of texts, tweets and selfies. Oh, and they have their children with them also....and their husbands in tow. Luckily, they are pre-programmed to shop at the most convenient place they could think of.....Walmart. If you can avoid this upcoming disaster should the doors open even earlier than ever, you are hereby forewarned to avoid the WM at all costs.....

Have you ever or Would you ever Camp Out for Black Friday Deals?
jaymacfla replied to magickallight's topic in 2014
This year will be special because my son is back home, and some of the original vacationers are flying in from Indiana to join the fun. We are also going to welcome our newest Vacationer, Greyson, due November 12. Our group has grown over the years and it would have never been as special, if we hadn't bought that first tent back in 2006. One year, my wife's niece was flying in and upon circling the airport the pilot came over the intercom and said, "Look at all of those tents down there People!" My wife's niece could hardly contain herself and shouted out, "That's my Aunt and Uncle, and I am going to join them in the line tonight!" -
Most people will agree that Traditions are preferred over the change in store openings. Just because you choose to go out and partake of the sales that are offered does not make you any less sympathetic to those who feel the pain and wish things would go back to the way they were. I have been saying for years that Saturday is the new Thursday. We made the change years ago, but have opted to do dinners at Best Buy on special events, like when my Birthday falls on Thanksgiving. Sadly, even our group can no longer enjoy this option because of the change. What used to be a full last day is now just a fond memory, captured in pictures and a few newsreels. last year was the first year that the real hating of campers started. It was evident in numerous postings on other sites whose members are not as polite as those on Gottadeal. We also experienced extremely rude people who blamed us for the change, even though we have been lining up since 2004, and camping since 2006.

Do you have a Bealls, or Kohls? It is like most stores of clothing and some household goods.

Teenagers would be the most likely to get hurt since their brains are shut off until 21. Their propensity to use cellphones and tweet selfies, will give rise to the statement, "I never saw the rush coming Doctor".

My wife has more, lots more....

I have done this since 2009. The only time a big ticket item was better online was in 2010. It was a Plasma TV and was shipped in after ordering it online and it arrived on Black Friday, about an hour after I got home. It just also happened to be my birthday.

Here are some more Pet Peeves of mine: 1. Vendors who show up to capitalize on the crowd and cannot get their act together. (Cold food, cold drink, and it should be hot!) 2. People who lose their minds and try to get us kicked off of the property because we have an unfair advantage. When asked by store management if they would either camp or stand in line, the answer is usually no. 3. Online shopping when it becomes a button mashing mess instead of a pleasant experience.

Have you ever or Would you ever Camp Out for Black Friday Deals?
jaymacfla replied to magickallight's topic in 2014
If you had camped with us, your son would have gotten that item! Many times the store magically does a recount and 7 becomes 3, 10 becomes 6, etc. When this happens, whether intended or not, it hurts the corporate image and customer trust is hard to earn these days. -
Walmart is very good at hiding items it does not intend to sell at the Black Friday price. Case in point was last year's Monsters Inc new movie. Many Walmarts in my area did not have them around during the sale, but magically had them back in their regular locations after the sale. If you are a fan of the sale, and particularly Blurays, then you are going to love this. Check the items on the Saturday after the sale. Many ring up at the Black Friday promo price, so use the scanners if the store has them. I was able to get 4 of the Monsters University movies this way, not to mention many others that found their way back to the regular sections early.

Most shoppers wouldn't dream of leaving a cart alone on BF. Here is to hoping that more individuals score deals in this manner.
-
I swear that I am going to bring one of those hall monitor sashes of old to the next person who tries to monitor the line in that manner! It is always someone who is around the corner and has no earthly chance of getting a door-buster anyway.
-
Here's hoping that some Mac-Daddy's dream comes true this year! We can always count on the most respectful people to post on these boards, and I cannot say this enough.

Have you ever or Would you ever Camp Out for Black Friday Deals?
jaymacfla replied to magickallight's topic in 2014
Some of the most die-hard campers are from the north, and having lived in the Chicago area, they deserve an extra ticket just for the effort. -
My best Black Friday tip is to use the scans from previous years to determine where the deals really lie. Go back 5 to 10 years and you will be astonished at how little your new HDTV will cost you in relation to a set with less resolution and screen size from 2004!
-
I have actually found this to be an advantage. I always look for carts and items in areas where items should not be put after the initial rush at Walmart. I have been able to find doorbusters this way. Walmart is always my second stop after Best Buy due to the likelihood that items will be strewn about in the confusion.

Have you ever been annoyed by rude people while shopping? Are there some bad habits that are apparent and seem to run rampant on this particular day? Do the stores themselves tend to drive you crazy? I will give a few examples of our favorite line/store peeves each year: 1. Persons who show up in the cold with under-dressed children. 2. Persons who cut in line or those who allow family members to cut. 3. Persons who complain to the font of the line that the line just got a heck of a lot longer and monitor the situation every 5 minutes. 4. Ill-prepared staff who can't seem to get their act together or direct you to the wrong aisle/area. 5. Credit card denials or store credit glitches. 6. Media asking if we are part of the "Occupy movement". 7. People blaming us for "Black Thursday" 8. Stores not having the proper stock or selling your ticketed item by mistake. 9. Persons who walk by you and "Show you how it's done" by waltzing in the store , pay full price and then when coming outside shout to you, "See?" 10. Persons who show up for an hour, and get interviewed by the media, telling them how hard it is to stand in line so early. The list could go on and on. Sometimes the worst things become the fondest memories, so what are your pet peeves this year???
