Yeah, I noticed them a week or so ago too. I always think they set the Halloween stuff far too early. Oh well, what can you do? Particularly when you realize they set Christmas just after (and often before) Halloween!!

Do you mean the toy Play Wonder toy kitchens? Those are wood and a royal pain to put together! DH was cursing a blue streak when he had to build it. the Step 2 should be a breeze in that regard, and it will hold up better.

Oooohh! I didn't see ANY Leapads on clearance! What did it look like? One of the cashiers at my main store asked me, a day too late, to keep an eye out for a Vsmile Pocket for her. I don't mind helping her out, but I haven't seen another one. I'll start checking those for her. I know she just wants a gift for her son.

Well, that would depend on where you are in the country, then. My niece in TN started back on Monday. My kids, in CA, start Thursday after Labor Day. It was 15% a couple of weeks ago, so probably 30% this week, and 50% (if anything is left) in another 2 weeks or so. Seems like they usually start Halloween merchandise the week after Labor Day.

I'd be surprised if they didn't mark them tomorrow or Thursday. By the way, I was in a couple of stores today with much of the toy reset done, and they have some COOL new Play Wonder toys. There is a new kitchen - much nicer than the old one. And a fun new tool/work table with all kinds of "electric" tools. My boys were having a blast in the store.

No, and ours is over a year old, so I am SURE they won't unless forced to. I guess we just wait and see.

Oh, and the games are all on sale this week! they are about $2 less than usual. Not a lot, but they don't usually go on sale except during the big holiday things. I think TRU also has a deal on Vtech stuff. You might check that out.

Well, you can look at it that way, but it could be that they are keeping out of bankruptcy by selling the stuff on ebay...Lots of stay at home moms do it.

Okay. I called the 800 number and they told me that the manufacturer of the Play Wonder Kitchen simply removed it from the market. So, they are having to pull them. The manufacturer apparently gave no explanation as to why they are pulling the product, so that makes me pretty suspicious. I would certainly hold off giving any of these wooden Play Wonder items to little ones if it were me. Given how many items are getting recalled for lead paint, and these are painted and made in China, and now the manufacturer is pulling at least one of them from the market? Just screams lead paint all over again. I'll have to talk things over with DH to decide what to do about our set. The boys REALLY like it, so I am not sure. They have both been okay with regard to blood lead levels in previous Dr. visits, so maybe it is okay.

Oh yeah, you always see that right after their clearance. That and ebay. I haven't looked, but I would be surprised if it wasn't flooded with all the new clearance stuff.

Don't know if this is everywhere, but the Aussie grills are 15% off at our stores. They were marking a bunch of baby stuff 75% off today.

the handheld works with the TV. why bother getting a second system? my boys have been using their new ones on the TV just fine.

I don't know. It might be worth calling, though. I just know that they couldn't sell the guy the actual kitchen setup.

Hey, everyone who bought the Play Wonder kitchen set, it is apparently recalled. I was getting a price adjustment at guest services (actually bought a V.Smile game that wasn't clearanced for younger DS, and they went on sale today), and a man was really upset that they wouldn't let him buy it. It came up as a recall item. They didn't know why, but suggested calling the 800 number. We got DS one for his birthday about 18 months ago and both boys LOVE using it (both mommy & daddy like to cook here, so it is fun), so I will have to find out what happened. It is DPCI: 204-12-0517.

Most of the time they get marked even if there are none on the shelf. From time to time they don't for some reason.

Where in CA? I think all our San Gabriel Valley stores finally went 75% off, though Play Wonder is still mostly 50%. I have also hit the stores in Burbank & North Hollywood, and found that they went 75% Friday. As of Thursday, La Verne had not gone 75% but San Dimas had. I have to go out that way again on Tuesday, so I'll check for any remainders or to see if they have even done it. They seemed pretty far behind when I was there last week.

I've heard nightmare stories about their registry! I did it a few years ago, but not that many people bought there, so it turned out not to be too big a deal. Still, it is ridiculous that they can't get it to work out.

I got them twice in a row, but haven't gotten them again for months. I think they are testing things out. It will be interesting to see if I get them more now that I finally got a red card. I was spending so much on the toy clearance that I figured it was time to get that extra 10%!

Hit 3 more stores today and found that they must have just done their toys today. I still was able to find more Legos and such. FYI, new stores may not do a lot of clearance, but I was surprised to see our brand new Glendale store did have a few clearance items.

Ahhh....Glad to hear everyone got such good toy deals! I did too. I hit several stores. Ran into a gal in a neighboring town who was frustrated because she nearly missed the toy sale entirely. Told her about this site, so hopefully she'll link in. We had on 4 of the 6 stores I visited with markdowns done. So, I guess those other stores will do it either today or next week. If your store wasn't marked down yesterday, please post when it happens, and I'll drive back out to that store. It is a bit far to go without thinking they probalby did it.

You may want to return the charging base. I was looking at them to go with the Pocket I got for DS at 50%. I read the reviews on Amazon, and apparently it is pretty bad. There were a few good reviews, but most said that it was EXTREMELY difficult to use. A few suggested you would be better off simply buying rechargeable batteries and a recharger separately than using this thing.

Probably depends on how new. If it opened in the round of 42 new stores last weekend, then no. At least our new store has absolutely nothing on clearance. They opened with the new set that will be coming to other stores soon.

I explicitly asked the lady I trust most on the markdown team about toys. She checked her PDT and told me tomorrow. They were marking mens clothes today. I am hoping to get DH a couple of new swim trunks for vacation, so I'll have to swing back by.

They are letting the departments go a bit right now till they reset. If your store doesn't have much clearance, they'll probably get it done in a week or so, and it'll look completely different!
