  1. Penske will usually call back if you don't make a reservation after getting the online quote. They will definately discount to match or beat competitors quotes! This includes getting an extra day for free. We were only moving from VT to NH and UHaul and Budget siad it needed to be a 2 day rental (not just overnight). When we talked to the Penske rep, they added an extra day for free. On the flip side, Budget also bargained with me...lowered their amount & gave unlimited miles based on Penske quote. We ended up going with Budget, even though it was a few extra bucks...but only because they had local pick up and drop off locations at each end of the trip. Penske was 1.5 hrs away from our start and 1 hr from end of route. Our time was worth more, not to mention the gas! But don't be afraid to bargain with customer service. It's definately worth it. Also, I think it was Budget that gave an extra % off for a Sun-Thurs pick up vs a Fri/Sat one so that might also help if you have any flexibility. U-Haul would not bargain at all and were the most expensive (by far!) to begin with. They were quickly off our list. Hope that helps!
  2. Just got my BJs coupon book for June, and they have $15 off coupon for a Panasonic 4 handset phone system! Here's the details on the coupon: Valid thru 6/4/08 Panasonic 4 Handset DECT 6.9 Phone Model # KX-TG9334PK BJs price = 99.99 off at register - 15.00 FINAL SALE PRICE = 84.99 Will Sams Club price match or honor competitor coupons?
  3. Yeah, glad to help! Be sure to post and let us know when they arrive and the quality so I can figure out which ones I should order.
  4. These are 2 sites I had bookmarked for yard sale signs, but I have not ordered and am not sure of their personalization options: http://www.salesigns.info/ http://www.sassysigns.com/ * coupon code QUEEN for $1 off your order * HTH!
  5. Just wondering if anyone has seen a good deal on a set of multiple DECT 6.0 phones? Would like something with at least 3 handsets. To be used with Comcast voice. Don't really need an answering machine, as we have voicemail. We have a set of 2 Uniden's that we are using now -- and those have been fine -- but are not expandable and the new house is bigger! :) Would like to stay under $100 for sure. Could be online or B&M for a store I can find here in NH. Thanks!
  6. Wondered if anyone knew of a Sears appliance sale for washers and dryers? DH was approved for a Sears card, so we will likley purchase there for the frequent interest-free deals. I'd also love to hear any more advice you might have on an energy star front-loading washer that has a large capacity. We can get a $50 rebate in our state (from our electric company & state energy efficiency company) for the purchase of an energy star washing machine! We'll also need a new dryer, but as someone mentioned above, I think we will consider getting a different brand as long as the capacity is the same. Can you use a Sears card at the Sears Appliance Outlet stores?
  7. I ended up having to switch my 3 hour shift from Tuesday to Wednesday, and the lady running that site's sale was fine with that. I had to leave for about an hour or so for a meeting and then I actually came back for another 2 hour shift as the sale ended. Everyone was very friendly at my sale in Bedford, NH. The credit is for $20/hr worked...so in my case $100...but that was to use agaist REGULAR PRICE of items, not the 30-80% discount. I actually spent my $100 regular price credit (she actually gave me $101.xx) as well as $40.xx (after my $10 coupon on fast cart pass). My site manager was very specific about NOT being able to use the $10 off along with the credit voucher for working. They were rung up as seperate purchases. I was able to get a few posters for the kids new rooms, a paint a piggy bank kit, ATM machine kdis bank (we had wanted one, but I didn't want to pay full price!), several books and sets (Junie B Jones, Backyardigans phonics, animal, diego, transformers, etc) and a couple of hardcover books that I am including with a few new baby gifts I need to send out (book is called "someday"), some cookbooks and then little odds and ends like pens/pencils/erasers/mini-books. The jobs I did varied, but included greeter/making sure people had registered to attend at home or via laptop on site, tidying up the books out, and then helping with the closing stuff (boxing up items on tables, sliding down the header cards on shelves, closing/locking the cases, taking down posters, etc). Nothing tough like scanning in items or handling money! LOL At our sale, most of the kids kits, software, loose items were about 50% off. There were $1, $2, $3, $5, and a few $10 items marked...but other than that, you didn't know until checking out that some were only 30% off vs. 50%, for example. It wasn't super busy, so if someone was close to the $50 needed for coupon, they would let them grab a pen or some other filler. I would do it again if I had the time. Site manager even bought us all a large Dunkin Donuts drink when she was out doing errands. Hope that helps!
  8. thanks for all of the great ideas! I am going to price a few things out here locally and let you know what I go with.
  9. btt -- any one have info? We need to buy a new bed...
  10. I was wondering the same! Got to furnish the new house...
  11. We are decorating the kids rooms with posters (boys have sports stuff, DD8 has HSM and puppies). Do you know of any place to find deals on several poster frames? Would it be cheaper/better to have them mounted on foam board at a copy shop or even laminated?
  12. Conj -- will be working the Bedford, NH sale (there is also one in Portsmouth, NH apparently). It's a good 1.5 hr drive for me, but I am planning to hit Target, etc as well and make a date of it Did you work at the Williston one? I had never been but always meant to as my child care provider always passed along the great deals she found there.
  13. I signed up for a 3 hour shift on Tuesday 5/13. Will report back with my thoughts. Can we still use the $10 off $50 when we are using our merch credit for working? Hope so! I haven't been to this sale before, but I figure now is a good time to try it!
  14. citrixgirl -- thanks for the article link! Brattleboro is in southern VT, near MA. It would be an hour or so drive. Maybe a good road trip. Does anyone know how long these "sales" are supposed to be going on for (approximately)? Are they likely to cut prices much, or just to a certain point and then send the remaining inventory to a different store?
  15. Silly question: Does the reservation need to be in the name of the person who will actually be driving the truck? I just made some reservations, but my DH will be the actual driver of the big truck. I will be trying out this price matching strategy to see how things work! Will report back. As of now here's the run down of the quotes (all one way): U-haul -- $180 (26' truck, 2 days use + 149 free miles included) Budget -- $148.10 using coupon code MVG12 (24' truck, 2 days, 123 free miles included + 47 extra miles at $0.60/mile) Penske -- $153.12 with web discount but not AAA discount as I am not a member (26' truck, 1 day, unlimited miles) U-Haul and Budget both have local (within 15 minutes) pick up & drop off locations available. Penske is a good hour and a half away from our preferred 1st stop for pick up and an hour away for drop off. Plus it is only 1 day rental. Unlimited miles is nice, as we have multiple stops to make en route where stuff is stored, but it will take extra time and effort to pick up and drop off Penske truck so much less convenient than other 2. One thing to note, as I was pricing things last month but had not committed...Penske, when the reservation was not completed, called back a few days later to say that "their rates had dropped" and that they would be willing to meet and possibly beat any quotes from other companies. So don't settle for the online quoted price -- they will likely come down an additional amount for you.
  16. Does anyone know which store in VT is to close? We now live in NH, but close to VT. And we still have to move our stuff from VT to the new house in NH this month! We also need to purchase some stuff, and it would be great to be able to snag a discount, even if we had to drive a bit. We need some small things like curtain rods, plants and lighting fixtures, and bigger stuff like a new gas grill, patio set and a washer/dryer! Is there a list of stores to close posted anywhere? Thanks!
  17. Got some of the beach towels for $6 each, sale HSM tees for $3.74, sale Toy Story playset for $7.50 and sunglasses -- the Buzz Lightyear ones I got for the boys were $3 each (buy 2) and DD's Hannah Montana ones were $5.63 after the discount. From the Outlet, I picked up the Little Einsteins PJ Pal for $3.99 and Buzz Lightyear wallpaper border for $1.59. Oh, and also a Grumpy sale tee for DH! Thanks OP.
  18. One of the things about E-mealz that I enjoy (in concept at least) is the store-specific meal plans/shopping lists. Now, I subscribe to the Any Store plan, as my local Walmart is not a Super Walmart with fresh stuff or anything...so I use a local chain Store (Price Chopper or Shaws). But I wish I was able to take advantage of store specific, as they supposedly take advantage of the current week's sale items to really make things budget-conscious. That said, I have been using this service on and off for several years. I save the pdfs, print them out on scrap paper and keep them in a binder as a reference for mixing and matching. This works especially well during the "off" subscription times. Then I just wait until I see another discount code to start back up!
  19. I enjoy E-mealz, although I have yet to just go with all the meals they list. I have some picky little eaters, so I generally have to swap out 1-2 meals per week with either a family favorite or a meal from another week's menu plan. Just remember when you do that to make a note on your weekly shopping list! I believe they have a sample week meal plan for you to take a look at. The recipes are all pretty easy, and I like that they often include slow-cooker meals as well. Hope that helps.

  21. Excellent. Did you happen to notice the selection? I have two boys, size 3T and 6 and a girl size M(10/12). Could also shop for a new baby girl that my friend in TX had on 12/20/07 and my newphew who will be 1 in July. And due to my current situation (I posted about it in the off-topic GD Lounge), I have the time on my hands for a little road trip to take my mind off things! LOL
  22. Which locations in NH? I live in the Upper Valley, so Tilton is closest...but could possibly be convinced to go to North Conway! LOL Thanks!
  23. Darn! I put down a Carlton Cards ornament (a big Rudolph one, reg $30) as I saw the 50% off sign. Picked up 3 of the santa apron/chef hat sets for the kids (reg $16.99, clearance price of $3.xx was 80% off I think). They were in the housewares/linens section. DH got a new pair of gloves and a weird looking, but warm hat. With the $20 Kohls cash, I put $7.xx on the card.
  24. thanks OP! Made a $60 purchase with a bunch of the $1 soaps, $5 shower gel sets, 2 of the $6 Scents of the Season Home Fragrance sets, and a few random shower creams, lotions and potions all from clearance section. Too bad I hadn't noticed sooner, there are some other sets I would have picked up as well! Free shipping with the $60 order.
  25. I missed out on this -- found one here in West Leb, NH but it scanned at reg price at one of the price checker machines and I put it down. Which is a shame as I would love to have one!
