  1. Costco had some of the big lighted decorations out -- my 1 year old was fascinated by the giant snowman!
  2. I actually haven't purchased diapers online yet, but thinking just about the "hassle factor" of bringing the 3 kids (6,3, and 1) into the store that I would be avoiding is something I am starting to consider! LOL I have been buying Costco diapers for the baby and to the grocery store with coupons for Pampers/Huggies in between bulk buys as Costco is an hour away. I agree the cost per diaper is definately lower when you can couple sale prices with coupons. Sometimes my timing is off for the stores (we live in a rural area with only 2 grocery stores...Walmart, Costco, etc are all an hour away and no Target in the whole state!) and one of the 2 stores doesn't double coupons at all, the other only on 99 cents and under. The other thing to remember is that the $10 off code can be used with other food and grocery items at Amazon too, so maybe I will try it to have my non-perishables -- especially those that are hard to find other coupons for -- delivered right to my door. Baby Cheapskate -- I LOVE your blog! I need one for VT now. Looking for a protege? LOL

  4. Excellent! Thanks all. Am thinking we will go with the PS2 for a couple of different reasons, price for both console and games is a big one. Thanks again for your advice and help.
  5. Was this in the flyer with the Jeans on the front/red cover? That seems to be the only Sears ad in my Sunday paper -- for the "local" sears at the mall an hour away. Didn't see the hard drive in that flyer.
  6. none of the HPs anywhere in VT, NH, ME or MA! The "local" store (an hour away) has 3 of the Gateways in transit and expected in the shipments rec'd either tonight (Wed) or Friday. I will need to check online for status tomorrow AM and/or Sat AM and perhaps I can snag one for work...My husband has staked a claim on the Dell Inspiron 1705 I got last month! LOL
  7. Hi all -- Apparently dh is sick of playing the handful of computer games he has and would like to get either a PS2 or Xbox 360. He gravitated towards sports games, military "shooting" games, and wants to introduce our kids (ages 1-6) to video games. Any suggestions? Any deals out there? We saw some collections at Costco that include games and he seemed to like that idea too. Thanks in advance!
  8. Don't have any hotel tips from my visit to DC last week (I was part of a conference and the "special" rate was $195/night!). All I can say is that good thing I get reimbursed from work. LOL I flew in, and used the Metro from Union Station to Convention Center a few times, but found that I preferred the bus line called the "Circulator". Frequent stops to tourist areas. Fairly frequent pick ups (advertised as every 5-10 minutes, but I once waited close to 20 due to traffic after an accident), and great for out-of-towners like me: all of these buses had distinctly colored signs at the stops and BUSES were red as opposed to the white of the normal city buses making stops. Plus it was only $1 each time and you could get a ticket for a transfer. So that may also be something to consider.
  9. Damn you Dell!!! [Can you tell that I paid more for the E1705 that arrived last week?] I should just ignore this information for fear of seeing the dreaded "better deal". LOL By the way, this is a really nice machine. LOTS bigger than I pictured though. Good for my uses as a desktop replacement and something to use for DVDs and slide shows for my work with small groups.
  10. No problem. Keep in mind I upgraded shipping as I need this to arrive before I go out of town for a conference, so that definately added to the price...and that this will be used for my work, no gaming (so I added XP Pro and didn't upgrade on graphics, etc). I didn't worry about software & virus protection programs, as I ordered elsewhere with a non-profit discount. Also, to get over $1999 I added a carrying case for 17" machines and the 4-yr premium warranty. Will let you know when it arrives and what I think of it! 11. thanks for your guidance...i made my purchase today using the $750 off coupon above. Thanks! I ended up getting the E1705 for the 17" screen.
  12. I was trying to use one of these codes, and got this error message: We're sorry, the coupon code you have entered is invalid. Please check the spelling of the code and the expiration date of the coupon. Any ideas on how to make it work? Also, are these stackable with the discounts automatically popping up when configuring your system? Thanks!
  13. BTT as I would really like to hear from all of you techies out there before I bite the bullet and make the purchase. Thanks!
  14. Not to totally hijack this thread, but wondered if you could give me some advice about a few different configurations I have been considering at Dell: OPTION #1 FOR $1,065 after $250 coupon -- Latitude D620 Intel® Core™ Duo T2300E (1.66GHz) 667Mhz Dual Core Operating Systems: Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition, SP2, with media LCDs: 14.1 inch Wide Screen WXGA LCD Panel Graphics: Intel® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950 Memory: 512MB, DDR2-533 SDRAM, 1 DIMM Hard Drives: 60GB Hard Drive, 9.5MM, 5400RPM Optical Drive - Modular: 24X CD-RW/DVD w/ Cyberlink PowerDVD™ Wireless LAN (802.11): Dell Wireless™ 1490 802.11a/g Dual-band Mini Card Bluetooth: Dell Wireless® 350 Bluetooth Module Batteries: 6 Cell Primary Battery Hardware Support Services: 3 Year Mail-In Economy Plan OPTION #2 -- Now for $1,233 after $350 coupon I can make the following upgrades: * operating system to XP Professional * graphics to 256MB NVIDIA Quadro 100M Turbocache * memory to 1.0GB and OPTION #3 for $895.30 after 30% off (-$383.70) coupon -- Inspiron E1705 Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2300E (1.66GHz/667MHz FSB) Operating System (Office software not included) Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005 LCD Panel 17 inch Wide Screen XGA+ Display Memory FREE!1GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz Video Card Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 Hard Drive 60GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive Network Card Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem Adobe Software Adobe® Acrobat® Reader 6.0 Combo/DVD+RW Drives 24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive Sound Options Integrated Audio Wireless Networking Cards Intel® PRO 3945 and Dell 350 Bluetooth Internal Wireless Cards Office Software (not included in Windows XP) No productivity suite- Corel WordPerfect word processor only Anti-Virus/Security Suite (Pre-installed) No Security Subscription Primary Battery 53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery Hardware Warranty 1Yr Ltd Warranty, 1Yr Mail-In Service, and 1Yr HW Warranty Support Dial-Up Internet Access 6 Months of America Online Membership Included Miscellaneous Award Winning Service and Support Mobile Broadband No Broadband Expresscard technology is available in the market now Future Operating Systems Windows Vista™ Capable Operating System Re-Installation CD Genuine Windows® XP Media Center 2005 Edition re-installation CD Dell Digital Entertainment Starter Entertainment Pack - Basic digital Music, Photo and Game experience ===> My gut tells me to go with option #3, but I wasn't sure what the main differences between the Inspiron and Latitude lines were. Are any/all of these upgrades really important, enough to add on right now? From other threads, it sounded like upgrading memory can be done fairly easily at home. Other than the operating system and graphics, #3 is nearly identical to #1 but at a lower cost. At least to this untrained eye! Also, are Dell est. ship dates pretty accurate? It is showing July 11th for the Latitudes I was looking at and I will be going out of town the following day and really wanted it for the trip! Am I better to purchase at Costco or something? The Inspiron was est. ship date of 7/7. Thanks in advance!
  15. I second this. I would love to get mine ordered before Wednesday eve/Thursday morning so that I can submit it to my grant and get reimbursed immediately. Will Dell invoice a non-profit so I can submit it directly for payment? I am looking for a laptop that will: * allow for multitasking * wireless/bluetooth capable * allow for showing presentations (powerpoint/DVDs) -- although I do have a projector to plug in it as well. * dual core processor * not going to be used for gaming, etc * not super heavy or delicate * extended capacity battery * I can get the programs (office, etc) at a reduced rate thru non-profit center so I am not worried about applications being added on right away. * budget: up to $1200 or so, but would like to stay under $1000 if possible Any ideas or advice? I am forgetting something major? I don't anticipate our grant having this opportunity to spend down extra funds again for quite a while, so it's gotta be something to last a while. Thanks!!!
  16. Great finds! Thanks. I have had trouble with one item: quick ring applicator -- from above list -- coming up at $1.19 for me, which is still a good deal, but every penny counts! LOL
  17. none at any of the stores in northern VT it seems!
  18. Checked out my ON in Burlington, VT today with no additional clearance markdowns. ( Did pick up a few other things, but was disappointed with most of the clearance prices.
  19. Stopped by the WM in Williston, VT today and got a variety of 50% off Easter items...most of which I will be using for non-easter things! From the Easter aisle: * 3-pks of fillable "eggs" shaped like cars/trucks (yes, I know they aren't really *eggs* but that's the best way to describe them...LOL) that I will use for b-day party favors when the boys' parties come around later this year * pop up baskketball "baskets" to use for the next basketball season-related events * little purses (they were actually plush mini-baskets) in flowery and basketball designs for special treats for the kids later this year * nicer baskets for next year (white with ribbons and other embellishments for dd, with sports ball designs for the boys) * 2 different sizes of purple beaded baskets for my scrapbooking biz (to hold goodie bags and collect door prize slips) * Easter bunny puppet * a little bit of candy (snickers minis-filled eggs, mini lollipops, care bear egg) From the toy aisle: * huge egg filled with Hot Wheels! I will take this apart and give for b-day or holiday stocking stuffers) * egg with a sesame street toy in it (ernie on a skateboard? can't remember!) I know they had more candy and linens out, and PLENTY of baskets and other things out as well...but I was running out of time and didn't get a chance to look thru everything. But I was pleasantly surprised!
  20. Got my $50 rebate last week. I was lucky and never had a battery issue -- the replacement came in January and dh loves his MyFi.
  21. Spa Mom, I wondered the same thing and saw this on the AG web site: Hopscotch Hill School These early-reader books, posable 16-inch dolls, and school-themed play sets are designed to help little girls transition to kindergarten and first grade. Miss Sparks and the classmates teach important lessons about sharing, persistence, and patience. For ages 4 and up. Perfect for my dd who just turned six and is currently in Kindy! Thanks to OP and PP with free shipping code! I am ordering extra to put a pack together for the classroom as well.
  22. If you have any of the $3 coupons for returning ink cartridges, you can use those online as well. EDIT: Use multiple coupons (up to 10) when you shop online. Your coupon(s) won't be applied until you have $3 of items for each $3 coupon. Thanks for the recap of all the offers!! I love staples! danielle
  23. If you are a Costco member, there is a coupon in the new book I just got in the mail. Here are the details (deal also available on costco.com): valid jan 9-29 (3 week offer) $60 off set of 4 tires w/coupon set of 4 michelin or BF goodrich tires no item limit per coupon + other fine print on back of coupon must be costco member hope this helps!
  24. This was a great deal, especially with the free shipping code. I ordered the pet pals bundle and was really excited to see so many little packages! Shipping was super quick, and I am using the items for stocking stuffers for my dd (age 5) and gifts to her "buddies" at school (6th grade reading buddy, 4th grade math buddies) plus a cousin and other young family friend. DD b-day is in February and I may order another bundle or 2 to use as part of party goodie bags!
  25. I saw some at Sears in the Markdown rack...but it was a 4T, so not sure if they carry it for older boys. BUt you may want to check there. What about Children's Place?
