Am I the only one thinking about doing my Christmas Cards?

You took your tree down last year? I think the tree adds something to my zoo! Just change the decor...??? -
My Dad passed 11 years ago this month and Christmas was his favorite holiday. He played Santa at the Bank where he worked for years and for anyone else that needed a Santa. He loved to decorate and for many years he was in charge of the Christmas decorations at the bank and the church. He also was a fabulous cook and had a beautiful voice and loved to sing all the old hymns and carols until COPD took its toll in later years. It's hard every year but I think of him smiling down on me as I take on the role of Santa for the family. I don't know that the pain ever goes away but I try to let the great memories keep him alive in spirit.

Depends on where I decide to go. THere's a SuperWalmart at the 2 mile marker, if I go a little further out, theres a SuperWalmart, SuperTarget, Office Max combo. A little bit further and I have St Johns TOwn Center WIth Target, Staples, Best Buy Toys R Us and a plethora of other stores....

Ok, I don't always do this for everyone, but I signed up. I had to go with a different user name, elfnumberone--everything else I've ever used was taken! Left a comment (five stars of course) and subscribed.

Actually I wouldn't mind if they snuck a carol in every now and then all year long, some of them are so pretty, but I do admit, going down the aisles with the Halloween costumes and listening to I'm dreaming of a White Christmas or Here Comes Santa Claus is a little disconcerting!

When I was younger, my grandmother came over Christmas Eve and stuck a few gifts under the tree. We got up the next morning to a mess, there was dry cat food everywhere, the wrappings were torn off the gifts, and there were four "drunk" cats in the middle of it all. She had put a box of Friskies and a box of catnip wrapped under the tree for the cats! A little surprise (and a little off topic, not meaning to steal but the poodle reminded me of the event. It's why our cat gets his presents on Christmas Eve!!)

We always laid them on the sofas and chairs growing up. I have a stocking holder that I got from Lakeside collection that holds 6 and is fairly sturdy. It's still showing in one of their Christmas catalogs--http://www.lakeside.com/details.asp?I=ZHS&N=36+4294965670&Nao=136&R=852172022ZHS4&product=Holiday-Stocking-Holders. I have the snowman topper but I'd love to get a scrolled one in a few years when the boys are grown and then I could use if for decor...

My sons noticed that also and now he takes responsibility for mine.... Out of the mouths of babes!

So unfair but it comes with the territory - Working Xmas Eve
mgmckny replied to orangedaisy's topic in 2008
Not in my current job, worked retail for many years, as we lost the idea of closing for holidays I was home less and less. ONe of the reasons I found a new job. My brother was with the sherriff's dept for more than 15 years. Being single he often worked over into part of the am shift so another parent could be home at least part of the day with their families so I do understand the feelings of missing out. He never got to our house when the food was still hot and he missed his nephews opening presents etc until he retired. -
You and all the Wii owners that stood in line for the Wii when it first came out! My pre-order for that game was moved back so many times that the Wii had been passed down to the younger boy (older one bought himself a used 360) by the time we got it!

Mine is on my ipod, so I listen off and on year round. No one else has to know.....

I do stockings for dh,and the boys and dh is supposed to do mine (some years I do my own). I also do stockings for the 2 bachelor uncles-- mostly candy and other small stuff I find. Sometimes the stockings are more fun than the actual gifts, especially in bad years....

I'm planning to be there, if someone reminds me, putting on the calendar isn't working for me lately....

I've done the Regency Best Buy! It is a zoo! Maybe I'll try the Circuit City if I need anything tech by that time. Not a lot on the lists this year as money is tighter than usual....I'm like you, kind of the smaller stuff, maybe a portable hard drive, movies and games. I'm not a big CC fan though, they screwed me big time last Christmas over an online order that didn't get delivered and I ended up paying for the items again at Gamestop on Christmas Eve to have them under the tree. (placed the order before Thanksgiving...),

Ok, I feel bad, my worst BF experience was nothing like any of yours. It was one of the few years that I wasn't going out and about at the crack of dawn (you didn't have to camp out 17 years ago). My husband of 3 months woke up in agony and doubled over on the floor in pain. I don't know if he's having appendicitis, heart attack or what. I end up calling 911 and they climb the stairs to our 3rd floor apt and are debating over how they will get this 6'5" man down 3 flights of stairs (he's 250+) when he lets out the biggest fart you have ever heard. They howl with laughter, I burst into tears. They refer us to his doctor and leave. I end up going to work (I was in retail at the time) and was already stressed out. The day is a blur after that!

I know but what my boys want is due the 14th so I guess I will try to get it then (My Japanese Coach for DS)...

Mine are past the Elmo age. But the price would be out of the ballpark for me for the amount of time that either one of mine would have played with it. The most prized stuffed animal or character in our house was a $5.00 stuffed "lellow bunny" from ABC distributing. Still catch a glimpse of him now and then.....

Weekends are better for me, I work 10 hr days and Fridays are crazy busy. All I want to do on weeknights is sleep!

Well now that we can't have access to the Big Lots ad, I guess I will be scrambling on TGiving Day to come up with a plan. NOT!!
-
Right now I don't, we put it all on the tree. But I've found some flamingo ornaments over time and one day I will have a flamingo tree(can't help it I love the pink things even if they are a little tacky).

Big Red, Blue, Orange or Green Sweatshirt over matching leggings-- Tape an M to the sweatshirt, add white gloves and go as an M & M....(my husband has the blue m&m tshirt and 2 years ago, I wore that with a blue knit cap and white gloves to work and people loved it and I was comfortable...)

A friend of mine wraps hers and puts a number on them. She has a list with what each number is and for whom... Says it works great for her. Just don't lose the list!
