  1. Favorite Candy? Or specialty type food? SOMething she might not buy for herself but loves?? Or a favorite restaurant that you can do a gift card for and then tuck it in something small?
  2. My DH has already been into the baking. The only thing I've done yet is test out the pretzel turtle recipe I found on this site-- yummy-- will be making more of those!!! Want to make pecan scones this year. Will see how my time works out...
  3. Christmas Naughty or Nice List You are on the The Nice List After checking the North Pole database we found you had : 2,144 nice entries 181 naughty entries Of course I'm on the nice list!
  4. This Christmas you will receive the following kisses under the mistletoe: 14 kisses on the cheek 42 kisses on the lips 14 make out sessions
  5. Which of Santa's Reindeer are you? Comet Like Comet you are always happy. Nothing seems to get you down and you can always put a smile on people's faces
  6. Buttons Mistletoe. Pleased to meet all of you!
  7. I have a hard time telling people things also. My mom doesn't have the money to spend on us grown kids so I would rather she put it towards her 3 grands (my 2 and her 1 granddaughter). I hate having to tell my husband over and over what I'd like. He has no memory for things I say throughout the year and then wants me to sit down and tell him a list of 15 or so things so he can choose.....My mil has started giving us money or gift cards as she no longer feels like fighting the stores for the adults.
  8. What about movie passes for her and a friend (or grandkids) or giftcard to a restaurant that she likes. My mil still meets 2 of her girl friends on Fridays for lunch and a movie, or lunch and then they go back to one of their homes to play cards. We usually give her a giftcard to a spot they like and my bil gives her a movie pass. She could pay for these things but she has tons of perfume etc and buys clothes that she likes when she sees them....
  9. I like their music but at this point in time, anyone's concert tickets are out of my budget! LOL
  10. Well, since he seemed to like the pocket knife, which is kind of practical, maybe another inexpensive yet practical gift. Like a flashlight with the led bulbs instead of the old fashioned bulbs, or if you can find it, a flashlight/weather radio combo. I have a sil that is intensely practical and doesn't like froo froo gifts, but she loves stuff like that. (We live in hurricane area and just the summer storms make a flashlight and a weather radio a great necessity).
  11. My old guy (he's around 16 years old now--) isn't into the toys as much but he still loves catnip, special cat treats, little cans of fancy feast ( he's normally a Friskies kind of man). If he could talk he'd ask for "Chicken of the Sea" tuna or salmon, sausage, etc...

    stocking stuffers

THat is exactly what we were told growing up and we always got just a little candy and an apple and a orange or tangerine and nuts. We always had a bowl of nuts out at Christmas and nutcrackers (not the display ones)... The older folk would sit after Christmas dinner and talk and crack nuts to munch on.
  13. If it's quiet in the house (LOL) and not last minute, I don't hate it. But in general, I miss the days where stores gift-wrapped!!! (Definitely pre-kids)
  14. Over the years as my husband's back problems have increased, we have spent more holidays as just a small group with drop ins sometimes from my family. Throw those meatballs in a crockpot, toss in the chili sauce and grape jelly (my grandmother called them Swedish meatballs) and have a great day!!!!:holiday01
  15. Just got back from Target and picked one up-- had not even noticed this in the ad! I'm thrilled as one of ds 10's complaints has been the sensor bar!
  16. Yesterday am, I went to Walmart early-- before 7am and they had no papers! I ended up at Starbucks getting a paper. My husband says I just wanted a latte! Yea, like I wanted to drive 4 miles out of my way, Walmart is less than 2 miles from the house.
  17. I'm not sure yet. Money is tight this year and I actually don't need a lot of the early bird type stuff.... DH and I will sit down and finalize things in the next day or so and then we'll see.
  18. My dad's secretary always did the honors on letters using a red ribbon (remember typewriters?) and signed them for him. We also got letters from the Easter Bunny too!
  19. It's been several years since I got any "formal" pics done of the boys so we went to Walmart (before they made me mad) right at Halloween and got them done. I like to do my own but every now and then it's nice to be the "stage" mama.
  20. I have 2 13lb turkeys in the freezer. When we used to do the big Christmas lunch at my house my husband suffered from turkey envy. He went to the store and got the biggest turkey they had (more than 26 lbs). We had to strap it in the booster seat to get it home! I wish I had pictures!! Now a smaller turkey does well for us.
  21. Isn't that grounds for divorce??? It would be for my husband!!!
  22. Next year I'm going to use my flexible spending acct! THis is the first job where I've truly understood how it works (and have the expenses to justify one). My husbands copays for prescriptions add up to more than $600.00 and with other copays for dr visits, we can easily spend a $1000.00 a yr. My company matches what I put in the acct up to 500.00 so we're going to hold all the receipts this year until say October and then use the reimbursement from the acct to do Christmas shopping!!!
