I agree. But don't eliminate one due to a Brand name if it has what you are looking for. Most issues are human error issues rather than the brand. My dh can screw any of them up...

My company uses Dells now and there are more than 6000 in current use. They are linked so the issues would come from server failures more than the individual units. The only time ours were completely down was during Tropical Storm Fay and that was the electric companies issue, not the computers...

We have 2 dells and have had wonderful luck with them.

Lots of the little things for Christmas, one year I got the slippers, they used to do real cheap prices on the big bags of m&ms as doorbusters, usually had to go to a couple of them to get enough for the whole family (my brothers and distant relatives that join us for lunch so they would have something..). Sometimes I just don't need anything much on BF and it lets me get out without too many crowds...

If it's Jacksonville, what part of the city? I'm out towards the beach so if I do a mall probably Town Center. Target or Walmart on Beach (even though the Walmart on Atlantic is closer).

I feel your pain. My kids would like new laptops (they have hand me downs) but they don't really need new ones. I'd like to get a netbook for one of my brothers who helps me drive dh to dr's appts, and dh could use a new wireless headset for his tv so he doesn't keep us all up at night when he can't sleep. Clothes and DVD's most likely.

A lot of the chinese places in my area are open on both Thanksgiving and Christmas, they even deliver on the holidays. Of course I do tip well if I end up calling them...

Add me to the list. It's in the back of the mind all year long but seems like since the site opened I'm constantly looking and plotting... Maybe it's something in the water?

The one time I got my 6'5" dh to help with Black Friday was to get 1 thing for my oldest son from Toys R Us. The ladies beat him up so bad that he swore he would never go again (he did get the present though). He hasn't been out on BF for the last 14 years...

Jingle all the Way, Diehard this past week ( I know Diehard is not technically a Christmas movie but come on, it's a classic).

1. In your opinion, what store had the best Black Friday ad last year (2008) and why? 2. What would be your #1 piece of advice to someone totally new to Black Friday? 3. Besides offering great deals, what else can a store do to get you to shop there on BF? 1. For my needs last year Kohls had the best BF ad, Finances were limited and they had some great buys on clothes that my sons would wear. None of the ads were enough to have me break the tight budget. THis year might be different, depends on the stores... 2. Comfortable shoes, especially if you are going to stand in line (and you will in some stores if not before). Patience and a sense of humor is a must, some people are jerks no matter what and you need to be able to laugh at them (maybe not out loud). 3. Freebies!!! I used to stand in line for Target even when I didn't need a darn thing and I always found something I couldn't live without once I got inside. Friendly sales people is also a plus also. I buy more when people are friendly.

Your Walmart is very enlightened....

How could I forget you! You are a legend (okay maybe only in my mind...)

Go to Texas, hang out with BIGJIMSLADE, he rents a portapotty. He will only charge a little for you to use it. Or stay where you are at and do the same, if you are hard core enough....LOL

Still want some but money ran tight this paycheck, will hope some are still left at end of July (next week).

ABC Distributing and Lakeside Collection just posted their Christmas catalogs, the harvest one has only been up for a few weeks.
-
Waiting for payday and then I hope to figure out paypal, not a fan of it... But I do want some bags.
-
Usually by myself or via phone with my brothers in other cities. Now that the boys are older they want to come with me which can be a logistical nightmare if the hunt is for them.... Plus they do get bored in line too easily.

Black Friday is a company holiday for me, so I should be off, this year we also have Christmas Eve.... It makes more sense because people are less likely to call in sick (and we're not a hospital, fire or police department where people are needed to work on those holidays...).

I haven't missed CC or CompUSa and haven't set foot in Best Buy in months, usually look online and last year did nearly all my shopping that way. Last year even Walgreens didn't have enough of an ad to draw me out early.
-
possibly 2 laptops, might not wait if a great deal comes along, my older son really wants a mac but it might not happen...
-
Probably about the same but it might be more as last year was very tight for us and we have some improvement (at least if dh stays well, etc). Would like to upgrade the boys computers, etc.

Awesome!
