  1. When you get to Costco or Sam's, go up to the exit and tell them you want to get a pass from customer service just to look around. At Sam's Club they will actually let you shop with the pass but just charge an extra 10% non member fee. At Costco you can not shop there without buying the membership (or going with a friend and giving your friend cash for your items)
  2. My son would love this. Do I really want to store it for 9 months for his bday? http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51tgAaBXhHL._AA280_.jpg Star Wars Lightsaber Duel Throw List Price: $23.00 Price: $13.49 & eligible for free shipping with Amazon Prime You Save: $9.51 (41%) http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Lightsaber-Duel-Throw/dp/B000WJYYV0/ref=br_lf_m_1000186561_1_22_ttl?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=kitchen&pf_rd_p=347073801&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_t=1401&pf_rd_i=1000186561&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0HRGRFA0Y7XGX5TP9PR3
  3. sounds like your motor is dying on your washer. If it is under 10 years old you can call Sears and buy an extended warrenty for it, even if you didn't buy it from Sears originally. And then call the next day you call to get it repair appt. Or call the company of your washer (Maytag, etc) and they offer extended warrenties as well and you can do that. I've been told by the companies before that this is perfectly okay so I don't feel like I'm doing anything bad by telling you this. LOL Sears actually told my mom the same thing when she took her vacuum into repairs after the warranty expired. This is the cheapest way to go if you don't want to fork out the dough for a new washer. We bought the LG steam washer last year because we wanted something that was more energy efficient and water efficient. I don't think I've cut the loads of laundry down for clothing (techinically I should have because it does hold more than our extra large capacity washer did) but our water bill did drop by a bit (maybe $10 a month? some months I don't see much of a difference. BUT I find myself washing the sheets/towels/bathroom rugs a lot more than I used to). The steam feature I don't use that much because it will shrink clothes. Most of the clothes are cotton so things shrink easily. I do use it for towels (gets even the worst mildew smells out), when the kids get sick, and for pillows/blankets. Think about if you really need this feature is what I'm saying; we rarely use it for steam pressing our clothes because the dewrinkling feature of the dryer does the same thing. I noticed that the LG was able to out some stains that had been set in for years. Not ALL stains, but some stains did come out. Other set in stains decreased in size/color. It takes some getting used to the noise of the spin cycle of front loaders. They spin so fast that at first it sounds like a jet plane taking off. (maybe not that bad, but some people say it sounds like that :) ) Home Depot has all LG appliances with an extra 10% off right now through the 16th. You can price match at Best Buy or Sears and get your 110% guarentee at those stores. I'd recommend Best Buy because they have instant free delivery (no mail in rebate) and haul away of your old appliance. Their extended warrenty plan is cheaper than Sears' plan, too. I don't normally buy extended warrenties anymore but I did on the washer becuase so many people have problems with mold forming on the front seal. (Make sure you wipe down your washer seal after each wash, or, at the minimum, leave your door open often to dry out the inside and run a tub cleaning/bleach cycle once a month or so.) We didn't buy a new dryer. The new dryers are not any more energy efficient than the old dryers. The advantages are a higher spin speed so they are suppose to dry faster. But it's not SIGNIFICANTLY faster, from what people told me. I'd still like a new dryer but it's not a necessity. We have an extra large capacity dryer and the cubic feet is the same as the cubic feet in the LG dryer. I spent A LOT of time on this forum doing research before we found our machine: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/laundry/ Also, check with your local utility companies. We got a rebate from our gas company for the washing machine (weird, huh?) and we got a rebate from the water company. BUT with the water company we actually had to send in paperwork to get the rebate form before we bought the machine, and the money was allocated for us, but we still had to send in the receipts. Might be worth a call/internet research. :) The rebates saved us another $150 or so.
  4. Amazon had one in their gold box today, 50% off. Watch the sales at Sporting Good stores. They should have a bunch for "New Year's Eve Resolution time." Sears has exercise stuff on sale soon too.
  5. Don't forget his matching puppy! That's one of my DS's favs too. He's campaigning for the waggly puppy next <sigh>
  6. I am a thrift store shopper and I used to have a GREAT Goodwill near my house. I'd find Target clearance at that store all the time. But, as most people discover, Goodwill always seems to markup the Target prices. You'd see an orange clearance sticker on the package and Goodwill would post their price next to that tag and it would almost ALWAYS be more. I heard this is true for most Goodwills across the country.
  7. I think BAB has a lifetime guarentee. If the stiching comes undone, your bear gets too "flat" and needs more stuffing, if you need to replace the sound, you are welcome to take your bear to the store and get it fixed up for free. I have asked a few times and this is what my store told me, but YMMV. They said just walk up to the register first and ask for a paw pass for your bear (kitty); it's basically a visitor's pass so they know you aren't stealing a new kitty. And then they will help you out. :) To fix the sound I think the cut the stiches open, get the bad sound out, put the new sound in, and restuff if necessary. Then they add new stitches. :) I'm sure DD will find something for Kitties for him to recover during his post-op time...
  8. I didn't know this about the shipping charge. How do they know if Amazon charges you a shipping charge or not? Do they just assume if you spend under $25 you'll be charged and then compute that into the price? Any good codes lately? I'm anxious to get myself some crocs for Valentine's Day I never have had a pair but think that it is about time I have a pair for spring/summer :)
  9. Is that the Corona store off of Cajalco?? Was there any outside decor left?? Menifee Target was still only 75% off..>GRRR
  10. Didn't want to start a new thread, but found this in the kitchen section too! http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/413dJawbgOL._AA280_.jpg Pfaltzgraff Winterberry Measuring Cup Set $4.99 ($30.00) http://www.amazon.com/Pfaltzgraff-Winterberry-Measuring-Cup-Set/dp/B000P0XCIW/ref=pd_ts_k_52?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen qualifies for 4 for 3 deal, only 3 left at the time I posted this
  11. I found the pink flowered Alano Graco travel set THANK YOU GDers!!! It went half price this morning; they still hadn't changed the endcap sign that said 30% off. Picked it up at the $85 price because it is rare for me to be able to find ANY baby supplies at 75% off. If I can find it at 75% I'll definately return the first :) I noticed that this morning they also put a new set of baby stuff on 1st markdown (30% off)... maclaren stroller (silver one), more car seat travel sets, pack n plays, Sesame walker, etc. So looks like So. CA is behind other parts of the country for the baby markdown. That's okay, I'm glad I'm aware. Hoping to score a new pack n play for 75% off. I doubt I will find it at that price though and if I can't I'll try to get a freecycle one :) Christmas was still 75% off at 10am when I got there. Don't know if it went to 90% off this evening, but there wasn't anything I really wanted left.
  12. oh, darn it... now I have to get out and brush my hair fast and get shoes on and GO! I had planned an entire day of deep cleaning but I have been watching that infant car seat/stroller combo for days. I need to run and get that if it has gone past 30% off!! They had 10 in my store 2 days ago at the 30% price. We held off opening the sealed enveloped from our ultrasound until midnight last night and found out we are having another GIRL! So that travel set will be perfect; I had to toss out my infant seat after my daughter used my son's old one. Gosh, cross your fingers they went 50% off at my store and they have some left!
  13. I've always had both Best Buy AND Circuit City price match for me without me having to print anything. At both stores they just quickly log onto the Internet and say, oh yes, they have it for that price, okay, we'll match that. Sears actually calls the store and verifies the item is in stock. Another reason I don't like Sears... they could just as easily verify the price online without being put on hold for 15 min at another store. I don't mind them verifying the item is in stock, I just hate having to stand next to an associate staring into space while he's on the phone for on hold for 15 min listening to music. I think Best Buy didn't have this camera in store, though. If Radio Shack or Staples have the camera in store, it is a good chance they will price match based on just seeing the ad you printed. ************ Hey! I just checked amazon! They have it for $195.65 right now. Cheaper to buy it from them than to pay for gas for a 2 hour drive!
  14. Stay away from ANYTHING Uniden. It just wasn't that model. My friend and I both have different series Uniden phones and they are the worse ones we've ever encountered. Short battery life that cuts you off in the middle of conversations... dropped calls... bad bad phones...
  15. oh, I was just going to post my disappointment story, too. My daughter got a Rescue Pets epets from Grandma (so she could have one just like her brother) and we finally opened the box today to discover someone had taken out the online code. Grandma may return the toy to Target to trade for a workign dog, but the dog hasn't left my daughter's hands and she'd be sad if we can't exchange it for the same breed. I didn't know how they took the code out since the box was so well sealed shut but then I realized you could slip your fingers inside under the dogs neck from the front of the box and break off the cardboard code tag. Some people...!!
  16. Circuit City has it on sale for $199.99. You can get a 10% discount if you are a AAA member. I think you have to sign in to your AAA account online and search for Circuit City. I think they send you a coupon code in your email for the 10% then.
  17. How about this? This is unique. Wouldn't come in time for Christmas but you can print out the page and tell her it is coming, just white-out the price. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41%2Bgrll9enL._AA280_.jpg it reverses to brown burlap, too. http://www.amazon.com/World-Food-Programme-Feed-Bag/dp/B000M3OP6A/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=apparel&qid=1198463385&sr=8-1 A bag for a good cause -- the FEED bag is modeled after the grain bags used to deliver food to schools in need around the world. A sturdy reversible bag, made out of natural burlap and cotton, it is a tangible way to make a difference in the fight against world hunger. Every FEED bag sold will feed one child for a whole year in school. --------------- okay, just realized it was out of your price range. Just thought it was something moms would like. :) How about picture frames? Kohls has great sales on those usually. Or a new vase? Kirkland's has a clearance sale goign on now too, they have nice things for inside a home.
  18. Usually when they have their monster sale online, they also have it in store and in the outlets. If it wasn't the holiday weekend I'd hit the outlet center this weekend. Man, I dont' think I am willing to fight the crowds there for 2 weeks and the good stuff will be gone. $5 shipping is cheaper than gas anyways I think...hmmm...
  19. Lowe's has a promo where you can get a $100 GC after mail in form for buying a Dyson. THIS DEAL ENDS TODAY. 20. I heard it doesn't work if you have it bundled. But for some people it is worth unbundling and then paying the difference each month just to get Cinemax. I think it's only a $5 discount to bundle, so if it is worth the $4.99 to you...
  21. As my great-grandmother got older and older (she lived to be 1 month short of 100 yrs) she needed less and less. The last 10 years of her life I think we got her lotion from Bath and Body works (vanilla scent), fleece throws/blankets, potpourri, and sweaters.
  22. What do you have to do to get a free one? I was there the other day getting those idog toys with the kids and that pie looked very very good but I was not paying nearly $3 for one! (I NEVER buy desserts there as it is anyways, 'cept shakes in summer)
  23. check out some of the Amazon toy outlet sales. they have some good board games and such for under $10
  24. Freecycle is great, at least in my area. I'm on 4 different groups (they are each rather small). It's a great way to pass on your un-needed items, and to clear out your children's closets and toys and make way for new holiday stuff. :) I've picked up a lot of stuff from others, too.
  25. After shipping and tax it comes to $30 for me... gosh I've been spoiled by the free shipping offers, I'm not willing to pay $10 to ship stuff LOL!
