  1. How about annual passes to a local children's museum or zoo? What my parents have started doing for my overly indulged children is to give them a smaller gift and take the rest of the money they would have spent on gifts and put it in a 509K college fund for them. Fine with me, I can buy presents cheaper than my parents can and my kids have a little bit of money for college now. The money I had put aside for them for college got lost in the stock market mess. It wasn't much, but it's gone..
  2. I just bought this to go with the $5 DDR mat I bought over the weekend, but now I'm regretting it a bit. For first time DDR people, is it better to try to find DDR 1 Used and just buy another extra mat, even though it is no longer $5? Or is it worth just buying this lightning deal? Everyone does not think it's a great deal but it IS $10 off regular price from Costco., so I don't think it's that bad a deal...
  3. Thanks for posting this! We stopped at 2 Lowe's this evening on the way home. Bought a few things at each store. Very few people were there but the shelves were getting bare. I bet by next week there won't be much left.
  4. WOW I didn't see that! You have to scroll down the page to get that to show up. Thank you! I may have to splurge on this jumbo set and send the ones from Grandma off to the school's collection...
  5. This is an AWESOME price for this. A few years ago Grandma bought 8 of these DVDs as a set and paid $15-20 more. My kids love these DVDs and watch them regularly. Grandma also bought all the matching paperback books so the kids could read along with the movie. (I'd check booksamillion.com if you wanted to do that) http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61LAvKfeOVL._SL500_AA240_.jpg List Price: $99.95 Price: $44.99 & eligible for free shipping with Amazon Prime You Save: $54.96 (55%) http://www.amazon.com/Scholastic-Treasury-Storybook-Classics-Collection/dp/B0012909Q8/ref=pd_ts_d_8?ie=UTF8&s=dvd
  6. THANK YOU!!!!!!!! I am LOVING this Amazon DVD sale!! Cleaning up my last minute presents right and left! I just bought Indiana Jones and Crystal Skull for $6.99 and Raiders of the Last Ark for $5.99 from Amazon too.
  7. We bought the 42" Olevia last year at Target. We bought it Wed night when they started stocking the floor with Friday morning items. DH opened a Target account and saved an instant 10% off his order. Friday afternoon we stopped by and had them price adjust the TV. As per their store policy, if something you buy goes on sale cheaper within 7 days (14 days at some stores) Target will refund you the difference. Usually Target does Fri/Sat ads. So you can price adjust any time during Fri or Sat. Dh likes the Olevia fine. It has a VERY VERY VERY slow warm up/turn on time. I like our Westinghouse a bit better for color, but overall it's fine. Target extended warrenty isn't that bad, either. Check to see how many input/output switches are on the 32 inch. I remember seeing it on sale earlier on the year and I know that point was mentioned. The 42 inch has plenty of hookups.. a/v, HDMI, S-video... I keep telling myself for the price we paid it is certainly good enough.
  8. check your local used game store for Guitar Hero game. www.ebgames.com gets it used too, and every Black Friday they have B2G1 free on used games. Sale usually starts on Thanksgiving with free shipping.
  9. I ended up going to the DVD section and they are having a big sale on kid's movies. Lots of movies just over $5 http://www.amazon.com/dvds-used-hd-action-comedy-oscar/b/ref=sa_menu_mov1?ie=UTF8&node=130&pf_rd_p=328655101&pf_rd_s=left-nav-1&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=507846&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=09C7CQ96T2J5R9FEVQQX I got 2 Mr. Rogers DVDs for my DD for $6.50. Eh, I spent an extra $1.50 but I got 2 movies for that price so not so bad. There are a lot of Tom and Jerry and Scooby Movies here, too.
  10. Thank you thank you thank you!! now to find $5 more...wish I still had Prime!
  11. I'm hoping the Indiana Jones 4 pack will go on sale before Christmas. I picked up Crystal Skull the first week when it was $15.99. The four pack is $69 right now. I'd love if it went to $55 before Christmas. Walmart had a special going online. Buy Wall E and Prince Caspian DVDs together for around $25. Not sure if it still available, I was just about to check actualy.
  12. this ad really looks promising, esp for kid's clothes and toys. Hopefully the other stores have good ads, it would be surprising if Kmart has the best ad this season! Best thing to do is make a shopping list and then save it to your comp, right, in case the ad has to leave Monday?
  13. We bought a nice combo LG one from Best Buy 2 years ago. At the 13 year mark, the DVD recorder stopped recording. We didn't buy the extended warrenty because we figured it was technology and tech. ALWAYS comes down in price, right? wrong, they are still the same price as when we bought it. Apparently this flaw wasn't uncommon in the LG ones. <sigh> How do you get the dubbing from a DVD recorder to sync with a VCR exactly? I'm all for just buying a DVD recorder separate and move the tapes over via the VCR, but not sure how to not leave a time gap. Walmart has a nice looking Sony upconverting 1080p DVD recorder in their ad for under $100 http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8054243 We have Sony outlet stores near us, too, and they tend to have cheap combo units.
  14. Layaway, early Black Friday deals, and frequent double coupon events. I know of many, many people that would not set foot in a Kmart last year that now goes there on a regular basis because of these things. It would tickle me to no end of Kmart is saved (it's still on the brink of bankruptcy) by consumers because they shop there due to these campaigns they are running. Really, what other stores are trying THIS hard to reach consumers and help out Main St right now? I heard that this coming week they are brining back the infamous "Buy $50 gift card, get $10 gift card" too. I shop their once week now. I shop at Walmart only on Sundays to get my papers for coupons. WM has lost most of my business. Kmart and their wonderful clearance is getting my attention.
  15. That's the one I've seen, too, but I didn't know where it was posted other than other deal boards I can't link here someone posted they found piles of books sitting in their store today. oops... they are not suppose to let them go out early.... check your stores though!
  16. Yup....Kohl's, Costco and Lowe's have the best return policies IMO. ('cept for Costco eletronics... I think they should offer you an option to buy an extended warrenty for electronicsbut anyways....) I've returned stuff to Kohl's a year and a half later with my receipt. I bought Christmas presents, put the bag in the closet, and completely forgot about them. Kohl's took them back, no problem. I bought maternity clothes, did the same thing, put the bag in my room, never opened it. When DD was 3 months old I found it. (I really had liked those clothes too). I wish I had gone out last weekend for the sale. I almost did but was busy....
  17. the toy book list is up on the Internet. But since I have not seen an actual copy in my hands, I will not post what is in there because I don't know how true the list is :)
  18. check the leapfrog site because I saw those StarWars ones bundled there, too. And Costco and Sam's both had Leapster 2 bundles that included carrying cases. coupons.com has a $10 off Didj system right now, which works nicely with the Target bundle. I think if you wait there is a Target coupon in the toy book for it, so you can use the Target one and manufacturer one at the same time.
  19. My B&M Target had about 75 of them stacked high on the top shelf. Does that mean it will make the Jan clearance sale?
  20. The only thing that would draw me into Walmart this year is Star Wars toys on great discounts. My son really wants the build your own lightsaber kit. I think Target had it on sale last BF. I'm hoping WM does this year. If they don't, why else would I go? For kid's pjs and jeans? Target had their pjs and jeans on sale this past month. Bought my big LCD last year at Target. (and I can shop their Wed and get price adjustments...WM is going to miss MY money this year)
  21. How about some Fandango gift certificates so she and her friends can go to the movies? Arts and crafts stuff... does she want to learn how to sew? Science experiment stuff...
  22. This list looks a lot more accurate than other lists I've seen floating around. They have had sales on about 1/3 of that stuff in the last couple months. Wish they'd have a playmobil sale; I was actually eyeing the circus stuff for my kids. LOL I still have circus Playmobil from when I was little! I'm watching a commercial for the Ming Ming Wonder Pet toy right now. looks like something that would be played with for 2 months then never again.... I may have to look at that rock and bounce pony. I bought a Fisher Price riding pony but the bouncy one might be more fun. Bet Target puts that one on sale; they seem to run more Radio Flyer sales than any other store.
  23. The ad for the doorbuster sale was bad. Maybe the OP can change the title of this post to include the sale, though, so a new thread isn't opened on it? I went to try to get the Artoo Potato for the Playschool sale but couldn't find 2 more Playschool toys that I liked. I did get Pokemon cards for their B2G1 sale. Great for stocking stuffers, and I've been rewarding my son for perfect spelling tests. (3 perfect tests = one small treat)
