I believe the majority of the stores locally DO NOT use most of the stuff listed. Admittedly I've skipped going to BB early the last few years so maybe they've upped the ante since then. As a female who does BF with my mother security is a worry. I'm not overly vigilant but when you're 20 people back or so and trouble starts brewing at the front of the line because ppl are just showing up and trying to get into the front its disturbing. I'm not averse to having to give someone a good thumping but prefer not to and honestly having just woken up and gotten to store ASAP I'm not TOTALLY awake yet.I love the mention of the snowglobes, that is practically a family tradition and JC Penney usually throws in at least 1 thing that makes our trip worthwhile too. I think everything listed would definitely make shopping on BF a more pleasant experience. Name&Shame: I had less than pleasing experiences last year at Target-attempted line jumping, Walmart-total disorganization and ridiculously long lines(at noon), Kmart-nobody had a clue where BF items were(or for that matter the fact that some hadn't shown up at all) and Office Max-employee refused to sell me an item because ad item# did not match the ticket item# even though the ticket clearly showed sale price. I took it in stride as had done most shopping online but a little knowledge/planning goes a long way for shoppers and its something retailers should take to heart and practice as well.

Black Friday Product Comparison Charts (Updated for 2010)

home theatre/receivers? -
that'd be a nice bday gift, although they've never been high on my list of BF stores

I tested a Sing-A-ma-jig at Walmart and couldn't buy it. It's the kind of gift my co-worker gives kids to drive the parents crazy along with the kazoo, flute, tambourine etc.

not needed. They'll just take up space and cuse confusion. Imagine some poor sod shows up somewhere looking for last years sale:P

I saw maybe 10 at target a few weeks ago but only 2-3 different ones. I bought some squinkies(? not the zoobles) multi-packs. I figured I'd wait closer to xmas and see if BFF's daughter mentions them else return them.

We've been thinking about starting BUT only because we have some of those tall/fat paper rolls we want to get rid of. Normally it's done the last few days before Christmas.

I wasn't going to mention that til monday

tinkrbel replied to Brad's topic in Offline Hot Deals
I was able to pick up some of the princess sandwich containers/trays and two boxes of cars sandwich bags plus lots of the storage compartments "for pets" and other miscellaneous stuff at 75% off at an unmarked store, people thought i was crazy with a cart-full and cashier was surprised it all came to 47.xx :) thanks for the heads up those that posted. I was not able to get the little chinese purses my father wanted, oh well. -
We Gonna Break the Record for Most Users Online This Black Friday?
tinkrbel replied to stationchief's topic in 2010
Don't encourage them StationChief, we don't need the site down again this year for any amount of time -
BF=time off, great deals and all nighters

I had one when I was younger and don't think I ever used it. My memory is awful so maybe I did and it was useless hence no memories?
-
must remember to check OTHER email account(when I get home) in hopes of good news.

Are Black Friday Sales REALLY that great or is it just the thrill?
tinkrbel replied to bfaddict1977's topic in 2010
That's kinda sad but totally understandable. I remember going out for killer deals I would be upset about not getting and now it's more like "I could use this" or "if they have this MAYBE I'll get it". It doesn't help me being a clearance shopper year round I guess. When you can get great sales year round 50% off or less doesn't mean much. -
I fixed it just in case I start a crazy dash to CVS. still got my laptop on the brain but haven't bothered attempting to figure specs I want
-
thanks for that. I've been meaning to google the reason for the name difference. It's one of those things that irks me when having to try to explain to people that they are the same beast when they argue can't be. The CVS NETBOOK is on the front page of ad this week again.

I believe I have the ads saved still if anyone needs anything post and I'll look. Might be on work pc though:P

strictly credit cards. I also have never added up the amounts but always pay off in full unless there's a no interest attached to a sale.

there were some threads about delays/items not available last year. I specifically remember one about Zune's from a non-major retailer. My online stuff was mostly for myself and from Amazon which gives you an estimated delivery time before purchase. I've reenlisted in prime this year for quick delivery and no minimum purchase for free delivery :) I would second BigJim's comments. I will forever try to order stuff online before heading to store but just be aware that it may fall through. I have problems with Sears on regular sale items and Kohl's too (just not as much) so based on past experiences would stay away from purchasing any MUST HAVE's from Sears online. I'd say a good 50% of my online orders have been returned unavailable and that's only to avoid driving to store to find out item is sold out.
