Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2007

I just got back from a different Target and managed to score one Lionel train set. The box is a bit dinged up but it was still on the clearance shelf at 50% off ($125). Since all of my other Targets took this train set off of clearance I snatched it up. When I got up to pay it rang up full price. I looked innocently confused and told the boy at the register (yes a boy, LOL) that the tag says $124.98. He didn't give me any problem and the roving manager just said that was a cool set and didn't say anything else either. I'm not sure why the sets aren't on clearance anymore but I am super happy that I scored one!

GJacobs: Did the cascade bucket you purchased ring up at $2.39 or did you have to talk a cashier into that price? Just wondering because I was in my SuperTarger earlier and their buckets (with the snowman) were scanning at full price. The other Target where I managed to get a discounted tub (no snowman) wasn't in the system at all.

Oh I almost forgot in my glee about the train set - I did also get their 4 gal jug of peanut frying oil for $9.25. That is a super, super price. This is great frying oil - we use it in our Turkey fryer and make chicken wingletts which we will probably be doing on Superbowl Sunday.

At my Target in the department where the ladies pajamas are, there is a huge display of pajama sets that appear to be Christmas or at the very least winter. They are pink and green and red, some have reindeer and some have snowflakes and they all still ring up full price 19.99. Why aren't these on clearance yet? I keep thinking that they will go on clearance since they are obviously Christmassy, but I keep scanning them and they are still full price.

Nikkilugi: I saw the cascade with the green top on it no snowman 80 count. Took it up to the register with my other stuff when it rang up it said it was not in the system. My girlfriend and I told her we thought it should be x-mas since it has a green top and she just kinda made up a price and I was not going to argue so my friend and I each got 2 for $2.37 each.

I saw these tonight, too, and they were 30% off at my Target...since all Christmas is 90% off there now, I don't know why they aren't included, but I scanned them, just to make sure, and they were $13.98...our Target really had crappy prices for clearance...all the Christmas stuff is picked over...gotta give me something, people!!;)

Anyway, I may go to another Target tomorrow, as I think I will have to take my little one to the pediatrician, so I'll see what I find there...

I am the friend that was with Gjacobs! We had so much fun getting the deals, the only thing was they didn't have all the Rubbermaid on sale 90%...instead it was only about 25% .....still wanted it cheaper! We also got the Apple Juice for .69 along with getting the Candyland DVD for $7.00!

FYI, normal cascade has a green top so it should have been regular price. You got a good deal there!

Ok the only things left in the Rockwall Tx target are the usual wrapping and bows. There was hardly anything to pick from at the 50%...But its like a drug....you still have to look everytime that you go.... Haha

Ain't that the truth LOL

Just wanted to give a heads up to a few hidden treasures. I found holiday gift sets in the regular perfum aisle that scanned 90% off.

In the home cleaning aisle, in with the planogramed items, were apple cinnamon & evergreen Airwick and Method candals (spiced pear, frosted cranberry) and air freshner 90% off.

Also, on the ST clearnance aisle they had Hickory Farms gift sets marked down to $8.94 that scanned .84. GOOD LUCK!!

I was wondering about the Lionel Lines Train Sets. My Target had quite a few of them for 50% off just last week and now the one's I am finding in the toy section are no longer on clearance at all. I am bummed because I remember thinking that with as many as they had on the shelf I was safe waiting until they hit 75% and now it seems they took them off the clearance. Isn't that weird? I even scanned the UPC on one of the boxes I found on an upper shelf and it scanned at full price.

Childofsolitude do you think you might be able to ask at your Target and see what the story is on those sets? They retail at 249.99

Thanks!

I was told that corporate pulled them.

It seems as though if it is clothing and does not have the special Christmas tag (this year it was white with the red snowflakes) it does not get included in the group markdowns. It will get marked down during that departments regular markdown scedule. The N&N flannel pj's with the lobster wearing a santa hat and the little grils fancy dresses are a couple more items that I can think of that did not go down with the rest of the Christmas stuff.

Another thing to watch for is the Cascade packets dishwasher soap. In two stores, I found it with the regular Cascade marked back up to full price. When I took them to the register & asked about them they gave them to me at 90% off - $1.25!! So check for the package with a snowman and red & green soap packages.

They had flannel sheets that matched and they were on Clearance, but only about 15% off, not much of a clearance!

About the train, aksmommy is probably right. Corporate probably pulled them. It may have been a mistake on corporate's part when they marked them down.

As for the Cascade, my store is usually good about pulling things that come up as "not on file". I'm willing to bet that these were supposed to be pulled as well. My store didn't have any when we started to do the Christmas markdowns (I did see them in other stores however) so my guess is that these were meant to be pulled before the seasonal stuff went on clearance. If they are coming up regular price, this means that they went salvage. The Clorox wipes should have been pulled as well.

By the way, the New Year's sets are on clearance for $4.xx (50% off). I'm unsure if they say the year on them or if they could be used for next year. They contain plates, napkins, and confetti (among other things).

Miramar, FL (I-75 and Miramar Pkwy) SuperTarget's xmas stuff is at 90%!!! My friend just got back and said it was a madhouse! People were going nuts and just grabbing anything in sight. The poor stock boys were being attacked anytime they would come out of the storage room in the back (she said they were bringing out pallets of stuff!). They had to call the police in to help ESCORT the stockboys! Holy cow!

I REALLY have no need of going...but I'm so tempted.

I had one of those boxes in my hands not 20 minutes ago, but I dunno...maybe if they go down further...lol

My best deal today besides the Christmas stuff that we got 90% off, were 2 games the first one is a Mad Gab game and it was $14 something and the other is Name that Tune the 80s edition (which DH has been wanting for a long time) and we got it for $14 something as well so they were both 50% off I think.

Hey! I just got back from target in memphis . i got some good deals but I had to hunt. I got 5 of the cascade 80 count with snow man on it for 1.25(casheir override), paper plates(holiday patterns) .19, some clear plastic tumblers that look like glass.19(don't look christmassy at all), large bag of milky way caramels .19, 20 bags of kissables free after coupon,3 bags of coffee not marked rang up .69 but free after $1 off coupon (the way u know if it is holiday flavor is by the lil whitish tape on top, if it is not a holiday flavor it will be red & i found these by through the back of regular coffee), silver paper plates and napkins rang up.49(not marked and were with the regular party stuff) and also a big carton of wipes 400ct .80(back of shelf with regular wipes has a snowman on outside of box so cashier over ride). O and a schick quatro gift set for 6.98 has 6 cartridges, razor, shower hanger, roller massager and pedicure set( really good deal since just a couple of the refill blades are that much).

Happy Bargain Hunting!

Just got back from my Target (Cartersville, GA) - we have NO cascade gel tabs - bummer!

But i did make out pretty good - and had a cashier issue that i'll post about at the bottom (might need some help from you great Target shoppers!)

Bought the Superman inflate a chest thingy (3.77 with $5 peelie exp 12/31 so YMMV)

Got my free Electrasol 2 in 1 tabs (free coupon in Sunday's paper - Target has the extra value pk for $4.79 with 18 extra tabs for the same price - so if you get the electrasol free coupon in your paper tomorrow, i'd use it at Target to get the extra 18 tabs!)

Got some of these cute little grow animals (frog and lizard - you put them in water and they grow to 3x their size - these are big too - over 2 ft long once grown) for $.48 each

Hershey's Kissables (.42 w/$.75 coupon)

York Peppermint Patties Holiday (.69)

Glade Pumpkin Pie Candles (.23 - bought 3 - would have bought more but i bought a ton the other day)

So my grand total after my $5 Superman coupon, my $4.79 coupon for the electrasol, and my $.75 coupon for the Hershey's kissables was $1.72!! WOOHOO!

Now my cashier issue - she did not want to take the $.75 coupon because the item was only $.42 - i told her that she should at least take off the $.42 as it's not my fault the item is on sale - and that the coupon doesn't say "Only regularly priced items" - called mgr. over and they did ok it after arguing with me a bit. Then came the $5 Superman coupon - well once again, the item was less than the coupon and they argued about that, then they argued about the expiration date - i said "well, you are still selling the item and it still has the coupon on it, i do believe you should honor it" and they finally did.

So what is the REAL policy on coupons and such at Target - is it really a YMMV thing?
