Kanyon71 Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Luckily for me where I work we are closed Thursday and Friday. This year we are going to see family so I'm taking the entire week off. Previous years where I used to work I took Black Friday off (everyone knew I would as we always go out shopping, so it wasn't an issue).
starbeck96 Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I am a stay at home mom and have been for most of our almost 26 years of marriage. But I worked at our local 911 center for 5 years. I would volunteer to work Thanksgiving morning so I could have Thanksgiving night off (when they were doing sales on Thanksgiving). In 2020, I worked a 12 hour shift Thanksgiving Day and took off Black Friday. 1
ilikefree Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I work at a school so we always have Thursday and Friday off. This year, for some reason, we have the entire week off. 2
Bopeep Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 We are off Thursday and Friday. Back in the day, I would take off BF. And before I could do that, the sales started early morning so I would get up and go shopping, then go to work . 2
HanShotFirst Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I’m in healthcare so there is no holiday unless you work at a physician’s office. Last year my place of employment opened up the clinic until noon so I got to leave about 2 pm. Otherwise for most of my career I either worked or had to take a PTO day for BF. 2
kellis4321 Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 My job is closed on Thursday and Friday, so I'm able to shop either day! 2
tracy0504 Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I work for the court system so we are open that week except for Thanksgiving, however, I took off from the 23rd to the 28th because the plan was to go see my mom for her birthday (Thanksgiving Day) this year...those plans have changed but I still have the time off... 1
bluebear Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I work for a school system. We usually are off Wednesday - Friday, but this year we also have off Monday and Tuesday. Years ago I worked retail, and I used to love working black Friday. 1
abentley Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Public school employee, so I have always had the luxury of most of the week off work! 2
BFKJH Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I just retired this year from the school system, so I have been lucky most of my life being off on Thursday and Friday. I many times took Monday off, just to sleep in after all the long hours of shopping and holiday festivities. 1
lilwywy Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 My office is off on Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Where I used to work they were open 24 hours so I worked most holidays. I'm very happy that I get them off now. 1
tyreejames Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 We are closed on Thanksgiving and they usually give us Friday off as well. In my 17 years there, we’ve only not been given Black Friday off once. I always hold on to a use or lose day in case they opt to not give us the day. I generally take Wednesday off as well so I can get a head start on my baking. 2
mastert1966 Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 We are closed on Black Friday so I always take the following Monday off to get everything wrapped and under the tree that we set up and decorate over the weekend. 1
Hubbalance Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 My jobs have always been closed except the one BF I worked retail. I had to work, and it was awesome! It was soooo much fun, but I did miss being able to shop myself. 1
lucyismycat Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 Our office is closed Thursday/Friday. We will probably leave early Friday morning for a hockey tournament, and since everyone is back to being closed on Thanksgiving my BF shopping will be limited to online shopping that day. I miss being out in person that day, but I spend a lot less money this way! 1
momlori Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Most years I was off on Black Friday. The one year I had to work, I went in late after an early morning of shopping 1
dantegirl Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Blessed to have Thursdaay AND Friday off! 2
Doresia Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 I work at a doctor's office. We have always been closed Thanksgiving and Black Friday. If that ever changes, I don't think anyone would be surprised or upset that I would definitely use PTO for Black Friday 3
jaymacfla Posted October 25, 2022 Posted October 25, 2022 I take the week off. It seems like i am finding better deals at yardsales this year, lol. 3
wittenlover Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 My primary job - I have Thanksgiving and BF off as a holiday. My second (fun gig) retail job - I expect I’ll be working there at least a few hours. All good. 1
stewarta4 Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 I work in public safety services..no such luck of us being closed for the holidays! 1
setlok73 Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 I work for a major hospital so if we want BF off we have to request it 1
ytmomof4 Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 I DoorDash so I get to work when I want. I obviously don’t work on bf 1
Rockfordmom Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 They gave us Tuesday - Friday this year and when I saw that I immediately put in for Monday off. 1
christinajoy7 Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 I am blessed to work from home with a flexible schedule so I do my early morning items and log in around 10am. I probably will only work around 6 hours or so anyway because that day is typically super dead with no one much working. 2
stina629 Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 I was a teacher for 8 years, but left at the end of the 21-22 school year for a job at a major theme park. I am blessed to be full time and have a fantastic manager so I have Wednesday through Friday off! On our FT team we all worked together to get everyone the days off they needed, so I am not working Xmas day either; but I am working Christmas Eve. Which is fine because we are set up for our major Christmas event and it is BEAUTIFUL! 2
