jakesmommy403 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) Now that most of the ads are out, I think we're all making our BF Game Plans to a certain extent. I'm wondering where you'll be going and what you're hoping to get your hands on this year. Anyone planning on waiting in line? Anyone skipping the stores and doing just online shopping this year? Here's what my plan looks like: **EDIT: I have to make some changes to my gameplan because I can't seem to stop buying stuff. I already got the Sega throwback game thingy, and Target has a 6-ft unlit tree for $20 this week that I picked up instead of waiting for that prelit one (I would rather do my own lights), so those things are off the list. Also, after reading reviews I've decided against that Duck Hunter plug-in game for the kids. Hmm...I need to edit my plans. I'll be checking Amazon all Thanksgiving week to try to score some of the DVD and video game sales like last year. That saved me a lot of the headache of trying to get near the movies and games in the stores. Fingers crossed they can match that $10 on Turbo that Target is offering. We'll see! As for BF itself: After the family heads home with full bellies, we're going to watch a little bit of the Steelers game and try to avoid the first crush of doorbuster shoppers. With my brother as my copilot, I would like to leave the house around 9:45-10:00pm and start with Target. Target: Turbo $10, Back to the Future trilogy $13, B2G1 Skylanders Swap Force Figures, iTunes Gift Card Pack, Hotel Transylvania $4, five pair of men's sleep pants at $5 each, some jersey scarves at $5 each, a few of the women's sleep sets at $10 each, Crayola Color Cube $12. Walmart: two packs of the barstools at $50 a pack, a few of the Scent square packs at $5 each, Ice Age Continental Drift $5. Then I will run out the door because I hate WM. Lol Then I'm heading home to get some sleep. The next morning I plan on heading to Kohls for some things I was planning to get anyway, so I can get them and take advantage of the $15 Kohls cash for every $50 spent. I want some pajamas for my mom, sweaters, jewelry, etc. Why not do it then and get the extra Kohls cash for later, right? And maybe I'll see some sweet deals while I'm in there. thehogsters Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Walmart 700tc sheet at 6:00 then rush over to get in line for the 70"Vizio that starts at 8:00. Will get to WM no later than 5:00 and scope out the map and see how many people are in line. Might have to leave the wife alone in the crazy sheet zoo line if people are already in line for the Vizio. After sheets the wife will have to suffer the guarantee video game line for GTA V. I'm sure we will try to find some blue rays and other items. After WM I'm going home to drink beer while the wife and mom go to Kohls and Belk. 1
Tigger97498 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) I plan to be hitting up amazon daily between now and cyber Monday, Dell.com on the 27th, best buy if amazon doesn't put last year's kindle on sale, Kohls, and then the mall for dvds at Target and assorted goodies at bath and body works Edited November 13, 2013 by Tigger97498 1
Bopeep Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I'll have to firm this up with my sister, but as of right now I'm thinking hit Walmart at 6:00 for a whole list of things then go home and go to bed. I don't have anything on my Walmart list for events 2 or 3. And I don't need anything from the other stores on Thursday night. Then we'll get up early Friday morning to do stores such as Academy, Atwoods, Gordman's, etc. 1
mello Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I'm going to do as much online shopping as I can between now and Cyber Monday. I've already ordered several of my big items. Even if I pay $5-$10 more online in advance for a bigger item, I'll know I have it, won't have to miss Thanksgiving dinner, fight crazy night crowds, waste gas, & stay up all night.Saving $ is important, but reducing stress has become equally important to me! I plan to get some sleep Thanksgiving night, get up early Friday morning and head out to just the stores that are near me - Shopko, Rite Aid, Radio Shack, GameStop, etc., *maybe* Walmart - in search of small things like heavily discounted dvds, video games, board games, popcorn tins, throw blankets & the like, in order to put together some family game & movie night baskets for friends & family who live nearby. I'm hoping to be all finished shopping by the end of BF weekend! 3
Jen08 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I plan on being at walmart at 6 for quite a few items...movies, Disney infinity, possibly the nabi, candle melting plug in. Hopefully I'll be home by 9 pm so I can get a few hours of sleep. I'll get up at 2am, leave the house by 2:30am and drive an hour away to the target and mall I wanna go to. Hoping to be home Friday by about 2. I also plan on going to kohls, dicks sporting good, Ulta, and possibly the under armor outlet. 1
Svuroo Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 I'm planning on buying some cheap drinks in Guatemala. I'll sic the fam on one of the off brand 50" tv deals at Walmart or Target... but doubt they have a chance. The drinks I'm pretty sure I'll get. Otherwise don't feel like I'm missing much. 1
bonjulie Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 So do you think getting to Walmart around 5 or 6 for the 8PM items is early enough?
stephdig Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) So do you think getting to Walmart around 5 or 6 for the 8PM items is early enough?I think it depends on how busy your wm usually is...I would think if your their at 5 you would be ok but then again depends on what you want and how crazy your wm is. I go to the wm closest to me and I can get my stuff and get in and out in literally minutes...if I drive to the one further away which is 10-15 minutes from me its insane and wont go in their until later in the day if I need to Edited November 17, 2013 by stephdig
stephdig Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 The plan is...Go to walmart for 6pm sale and then head to Target for their sale but I really and hoping I can get what I want their online. Our aTarget is a complete and total nightmare. the people who cut in line and push and then once your in the way its set up is a joke cant find a thing. I want the chi iron and couple other things. Then to our mall that opens at midnight and wait to get into GameStop ( daughters bf wants to go their )and Victoria sercet my daughter is hoping to get yoga pants etc like last year.
mgmckny Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Well I might make a run to Walgreens for a couple of things on Thursday and maybe go over to JCP for a snow globe (I live less than 1/2 mile from a mall now and the JCP is at the end closest to me). Other than that I will help Brad with the site that week, I work during the day m-w but will plan to be awake from then on. We order a meal from Publix which my oldest will reheat along with my brother and I will live on caffeine until sometime Friday afternoon/evening or maybe Saturday if the action is good....
gmhfay Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 When will you know if walmart is matching thier ad prices on line??? My daughter wants to get the tranpoline they will have but - I am really hoping we can order it online thursday and not have to go to the store till friday morning sometime................
Paka Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Unfortunately, due to uncertainty about my husband's job schedule, can't quite plan for sure yet. If we go to FL as planned, wasn't planning to do BF (much messier there than here), but the furniture in the KMart ad makes it too hard to pass up. We are moving from a furnished to an unfurnished place next year and have a storage unit, so too tempting not to get what we can now. Just hope the furniture isn't too high-demand, as I don't plan to be there right at opening. If we stay here in NC, still will do the KMart stuff, but also WalMart. The closest WalMart, in Sylva, is a mob scene even on normal days, but for some reason the Franklin one has had many doorbusters left very late (like noon, seriously) on BFs before. That might change now though, now that they have a new, bigger one there. I'd almost think people in Atlanta even would be better off driving up to that store, if it is like we've seen in the past.
pogiporkchop Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Getting closer... I just need the rest of the Big Lots ad... 1
maguszxz Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 My plan is check out Amazon and Newegg throughout the week for movie and game deals. Then on Thanksgiving, no cooking, just enjoy the Macy's Day Parade and do final checks with my mom and the little lady squad (my nickname for them). Eat, visit some family until 5 then where everyone be either at Walmart or en route. We take our places and wait for the big dance. My list is a Nintendo 2DS with Animal Crossing New Leaf (that's my main want). My mom is going for the stainless steel trash can for 15. Plus, I will grab my usual consignment of games and DVDs as usual and tack in a bluray or two. I might see if I can get a copy of BIg Bang Theroy for 8 bucks from Best Buy online like I did last year but if not, 10 bucks aint bad. 8pm stuff doesn't really appeal to me unless there is a last minute change. I am expect a $300 payout but things do happen. Then, I will be home around 10pm and then back at it around 9 for vulture duty and other sales. 1
totallyBF Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Will be arriving at target 5pm with my gang waiting outside our gang is about 15 strong and 4 of us want that ipad mini some of the peeps are going to the Walmart meet us at target 8pm im sending them to get what I want there lol I don't go to Walmart too scared than after we all get what we want and don't necessarily need (lol)every black Friday its like that. we will hit up tru best buy kohls jcp mays and wait until mall opens 12 than Victoria secret bath body works ect ect go home wake up go to home depot
leefamily23 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Well there is nothing I must have this year as I've completed most of my shopping online already. Mix that with the fact I am in the camp of not giving up Thanksgiving to shop. So, since my sister and I had always spent the day together, we decided we are going to go out in the afternoon and just shop. Doorbusters will be done by then but we are just keeping up our tradition of spending Black Friday together. Her dd has a softball tournament in the morning so we have to wait until that is done before we can go.
allshoppedout Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) I STILL don't have final plan, all these "LAST MINUTE" sales by Walmart and now the Amazon one coming Nov 24 is really messing with my head, along with various stores opening earlier and earlier than ever before. I feel like NOT making a game plan, why should I ? so I can write everything down and then have it all changed, so then I can do it allll over again? Guess I'll be up late the night before thanksgiving trying to figure it out. What I need 1st is the 8.9 Kindle and what the bummer is about it, is that if I don't score it at the first store, then trying to get it second store will be very very doubtful, they aren't close enough by the time you add traffic/travel kinda concerned about not getting it. OF COURSE I can always buy from Amazon, but it won't be 169.oo Edited November 22, 2013 by allshoppedout
jenterry Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 This year seems so much quieter than past years. Only hitting Target Thursday. jakesmommy403 - The crayola stuff at my Target last year was gone in 15 minutes!I'll pick up new scooters and $5 jammies and hope to get Nintendo 3DS for $149. Also browse movies and video games and grab a few. Then headed home. Will probably hit some online sales. I already got a lot of what I wanted (Skylanders, Lalaloopsy) at Walmart last Friday with their pre-sale so glad I don't have to go there!Looking at Overstock, Amazon, and Lego online. Then a quick run out to Home Depot in the morning for dh gifts. My girlfriends and I have always gone together and hit everything. This is the first year we're not
floridasun5 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Its looking more and more like I may not even have to go out on BF...or if I do, only to 1-2 places. Will head out Thanksgiving night at 8pm just to get a soda stream for a gift and then with the free gift card I'll get myself some leggings and slippers which I need for the upcoming cold season. Otherwise on BF, I may hit Michaels for some Christmas decorations, maybe Petsmart for dog gifts unless I can get it all online on Thanksgiving. Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret is still up in the air, but I do know that I don't have a lot of extra $$ to spend on myself so it's just a matter if I can maintain my will power to stay out of the stores and away from the sales or not LOL
jakesmommy403 Posted November 26, 2013 Author Posted November 26, 2013 Looks like my Game Plan has completely changed because guess what? I'M DONE! Thanks to all the deals on Amazon and the Kohls sale going live last night, I don't have anything left on my list. I've decided against those stools at Walmart so I'm not going to bother with those. I got all my movies on Amazon and cleaned up at Kohls. Done done done. So my new plan is just hanging out and checking Lightning Deals. Just because I'm technically done doesn't mean I won't swoop in on some of those bargains. And then in a few days I'll take my $60 Kohls cash out on the town.
Elmck Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 My plans are changing daily. I am learning and have made many purchases online this year. The Kohl's online sale was wonderful for my family's wants! I still need a few things at Kohls, but only to see if they have boots in a certain size not online and a few small things for my aunt.(she is visiting and I want to send things home with her) I also ordered the $99 Kindle from Best buy and it has shipped already!! Super excited about that one!! I think my game plan will include Toys r Us (sending someone tomorrow too but may need to go back) Walmart, Macys, Lowes, and Sears
Kandy Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 right now, in walmart to pm targets xbox live deal on the cards since i've not seen any other ones yet and get one wireless controller the other item i will order from the exchange online oh and dollar general on tday for the prepaid smart phone for my grandmother
speeddiva Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Right now, my only stop is at Walmart for some DVDs & video games that no one else has on sale, plus maybe the $29 Straight Talk phone if the line isn't crazy. I'm almost done shopping :-)
elena_398 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Going to Walmart for the 6pm deals. Already got tons of items online... After that heading home for some sleep then lining up for Menards. Every year I get there around 1am for a 6 am opening and Im usually 20th or so in line. May go earlier.
kathytheshopper Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 The plan is to go to Michaels at 4:00, maybe Shoe Carnival for Sperrys at 6:00 and then it's up in the air. The only thing I want this year is the sewing machine from Target but I'm going to try and order it online so I don't have to mess with the enormous lines. I will wander around the mall and watch everyone. If Younkers has it's $10 off a $10 purchase I'll go there. Otherwise it's fun to just watch people.
faceofboe Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I'm going to get up early tomorrow and head over to TRU at 8am. Everything on my TRU list is available tomorrow except for 1 item which I will order online at midnight. Thursday, I will try to arrive at Walmart by 5. I'm only getting a few movies and a couple of small toys there so I don't feel the need to stand in line for hours ahead of time. Next will be the mall (opens at 8) where I have quite a few stops to make. Then I'll go home and sleep! I'll spend Friday putting up Christmas decorations and relaxing. Saturday morning, I'll be waiting outside Target when they open to get an extensive list of holiday items.
Scanner420 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Sit at work and watch the carnage on TV at work & wait for a Trauma Alerts to roll in!
DeanH Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Fewer and fewer reasons to go out for BT/BF this year, but only the lure of men's flannel shirts priced 3-for-1 (Belk's) and other clothing specific things (Macy's and JCP) are going to get us out of the house on those days.
Marcster Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 BJ's & Lowes will be my only two stops this year. How crazy is that?
