RossMAN Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I would have gotten in line at BB around 8PM so I'd have a chance for the $379 Toshiba laptop. What about you?
airline2 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 i would have gotten inline at target alittle early to beat the rush to electronics
RossMAN Posted November 25, 2005 Author Posted November 25, 2005 i would have gotten inline at target alittle early to beat the rush to electronicsWhat time did you get in line today? If you could change that, what earlier time would you have chosen?
Guest Frieked Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I'd take the day off from work lol :) I got the one thing I wanted though on my way in... the $20 xmas tree at walgreens.
RossMAN Posted November 25, 2005 Author Posted November 25, 2005 I'd take the day off from work lol :)We have to schedule our vacation in January for the entire year, I always request Black Friday off
angel-too Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I wouldn't have stopped at a table for vouchers for the 20" dvd/tv that I thought was for laptops, lost about 10 sec. there. I should have said "Laptops?" to staff instead of "computers?", for they directed me right to......desktops. Missed out on laptop, got Desktop instead for same price. I'm grateful for that. I'm happy.
Gporter34 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I would have worn more comfy shoes if I'd have known I'd be there for 11 hours.lol
grapico Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 bring a tent and make a day of it the day before.
airline2 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 i got there and stayed in the car for 15 minutes wish i got out and got in line at first it didn't look that bad but it was
RossMAN Posted November 25, 2005 Author Posted November 25, 2005 I would have worn more comfy shoes if I'd have known I'd be there for 11 hours.lolI made sure my wife wore comfortable tennis shoes and left her purse at home. You have to be comfortable, quick on your feet and agile.
Harmony782 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Nothing! I got what I wanted. Me too. :)
orangedaisy Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I would skip Walmart altogether and go to Target first.
RossMAN Posted November 25, 2005 Author Posted November 25, 2005 Would have been in line at 9pm at CC.9PM? Wow that's early, you must have some hardcore BF shoppers in your area.
Gporter34 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I made sure my wife wore comfortable tennis shoes and left her purse at home. You have to be comfortable, quick on your feet and agile.LOL! I was actually going to scope things out and come home and change, but it just didn't happen that way. Maybe I'll just keep a pair of tennis shoes in the van for situations like this. But, all of us who were there all night got folding chairs from sporting goods and sat and even watched movies on the display tvs that the nice electronics guy played for us. The were so nice.
RossMAN Posted November 25, 2005 Author Posted November 25, 2005 LOL! I was actually going to scope things out and come home and change, but it just didn't happen that way. Maybe I'll just keep a pair of tennis shoes in the van for situations like this. You have no idea how prepared we were, except for I forgot to buy/bring gloves. I had two different jackets in case I needed something rainproof or something warmer. Different changes of clothing, bottled water, copies of the ads, everything. If only we were 3 hours earlier
grapico Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 9PM? Wow that's early, you must have some hardcore BF shoppers in your area.the final laptop voucher was passed out here to somebody who got in line just after 9. so getting here at 9, would have just made it, best buy was worse, there were 15 people or so in line at 7:30
grapico Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 LOL! I was actually going to scope things out and come home and change, but it just didn't happen that way. But, all of us who were there all night got folding chairs from sporting goods and sat and even watched movies on the display tvs that the nice electronics guy played for us. The were so nice.yeah i think every single person in the first 50 had chairs and there were about 3 dvd players sitting on car hoods going at the front of the store for people to watch. I also was wearing dress shoes as I was just scoping it out to see what was up, then going to go to compusa at 12, but I had to stay once I saw the crowd.
Gporter34 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I know now that the official start time of the line ups is NO LONGER 3am. That's for sure. All over the store people were asking if I was the lady who had been there all night. I was PROUD to say, "Yeah, that's me!" LOL I started to wait and take my shower after I went to check things out, but something told me to before, glad I did now!
floridasun5 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I wouldnt have changed anything this year. After being disappointed that Best Buy was so crowded already at 11:30, Walmart turned out to be a much better choice. We could sit inside, have food and drink, bathrooms and be able to walk around through the store and shop while we waited. Perfect BF day! :)
ramona1992 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 The temperature! That's what I would've changed! It was too cold to wait outside.
Guest all2tired Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Wouldn't change anything. Got everything I needed and then some
shanni Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I would have gone to the dentist last week so I didn't have a horrible toothache all day on thanksgiving, and all day today. I didn't sleep at all last night, but still went shopping.
dissident Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 wouldn't change anything. Because of best buy being so crowded, I end up at a wal mart with 50 lap tops and plenty of time to shop before I get in line, and when I go get in line, I get a chair, television, and shopping cart to rest my head on... not to mention bathroom and food breaks because of a sense of family within our group... it was great.
RossMAN Posted November 25, 2005 Author Posted November 25, 2005 The temperature! That's what I would've changed! It was too cold to wait outside. If only we had control over that and could charge people for it
eve Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 1) i wouldn't have stopped to check out the ads, just those 3 minutes would have ment i would have gotten a sears $10 2) i would not have spent all my time in bergners, if i found and stayed in the line without 20 people waiting to check out i could have hit an easy two more stores
queenofshopping Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 wouldve worn 3 pairs of socks (2 was not enough) wouldve brought a stun gun to use on the dozens of people who rushed the door when wm opened :curse:
saturnboy01 Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I don't think so. This type of event involves more planning on the shoppers part. Dont expect to arrive at BB at 5am and ask a STUPID (sorry) questions like "Do they have any of the $149 computers still"??? What kind of question is that. Those were sold out before BB officially opened!
medicineman Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I could have slept a little later since the local Target had TONS of the sales items. The line at Best Buy was so long that it isn't worth it on just a dollars per hour scale. If I have to wait in line 12 hours for what I feel my time off is worth there is no way I am going to do that. Pretty soon people will be at Best Buy from the time they close on Wednesday until Friday am.
