Why do some people think they are too good for BF?

I just recently talked to my sister and I was trying to convince her to shop with me on BF and she acted as though I was asking her to join a cult. But I just want to know why would people, such as herself, want to wait until a week before Christmas to buy two Power Wheels Escalades for $269 each, one for each of her toddlers, when she could buy a Jeep instead for $80 each, saving a whopping $378.

I feel as though even if I take a day off of work, and lose a little bit of sleep, to go to BF I am still saving a lot more money than if I work that day and pay full price for the same stuff later. What do you guys think?

Some people are afraid of crowds. Others who have never gone, don't understand the excitment and never will until they go for the first time.

Maybe she doesn't think she too good for BF, maybe she just doesn't understand. I didn't do my first BF until I had my 2nd kid. Never understood what all the hype was about until I went for the first time. I haven't missed a year since.

Alot of people hear the horror stories associated with BF ( mobs, cops called etc.) but most people aren't like that on BF. You rarely hear about the good on BF so alot of people only know of the bad and just don't want to deal with it. I'm been shopping on BF for 10 years now and never had a horror story (knock on wood)

I don't understand why some think they are too good either. But I have converted 4 friends and they are going this year to wait with the rest of us in Walmart!! :woot2: And it is all thanks to GD! I have been telling them about the great prices that I have seen on this website and they are excited!!

Thanks Brad and Ross!! Now I have some more shopping buddies. :woot2::D:gd_orange:cheese::tongue1:

No guts, no glory! I do ALL my shopping BF and enjoy the rest of the pre-season with all the other activities. I also have been able to find all I've been looking for on BF because the stores are well stocked and waiting for us.

Oh, Ive gotten it too! Just talking about it last night and those I was around looked at me like I was from a foreign planet!

Yes, and hubbys cousin tried telling me the sales aren't any better than the rest of the year. Well, maybe that's because she has never gone.

My family thinks I am nuts. Especially my mom. She just can't understand why I put myself through this. I tell her I save a lot of money and it is fun. Who cares if I lose some sleep and freeze my butt off waiting outside the stores for an hour or so? And the excitement is so addictive! Ever since I found out about this site a few days ago on CNN.com, I have felt so Christmas-y!

I'm going to speak from experience. I never participated in BF because I didn't think the deals would be worth the crowds, etc. I never even looked at the ads to know what the deals were! A friend of mine just told me about GD last month, and at first I rolled my eyes. When she started showing me the WM ads, I was hooked!

I don't worry about it. The less of them that go the less people are in my way!!! lol

I actually wish for people to stay home...lol. More chance of me gettin that deal. Although I know that this year I am going to have to deal w/ worse crowds than ever...because there is no snow or cold weather here. Just hoping I can get the things I want.

If its really worth it, then I will wait in line. I will not wait in line for one of 10 cheap items because its not worth it, but if there are 50 I might chance it. My favorite place I have found to wait in line for is Chickfila grand openings. Its not BF, but if you are withing the first 100 in line you get free food for an entire year a $300 value. Thats worth 8 hours in line for. I try to be smarter than waiting in line now if I can. I go 2 or 3 days before, and find the item and hide it, and come back and by it, or I buy it online. One year I had someone at CompUsa hold and item for me until it was on sale that evening.

I think once people watch the news and they show people fighting and the police, it scares them into thinking ALL of the customers at ALL of the stores must act like that and they want no part of it. My sister always says she is never going and when it is over she tells me she wishes that she went. I did take her with me once and once was enough for me.:clapping: :clapping:

Actually I can understand why your sister thinks you are asking her to join a cult when you're trying to convince her to go BF shopping :eyepoppin. For people who aren't as excited about BF shopping as we are it can seem quite scary. I don't personally know many people that are into the whole BF thing.

I'm an avid bargain hunter, so I live for BF :bounce_fl, but some people would just prefer to save themselves the hassle of all of this and pay regular price for an item. I actually had all my Christmas shopping done in April, but my DH and I enjoy BF shopping so much that we have to go out :greenappl.

im glad i found this site ..last yr i was near death because we didnt recieve the walmart flyer here.. i was going mental.. they didnt have them at walmart before either..they were giving them out at the door on the way in and it was causing people to stall in the doorway looking.. i did get my hands on one from another town that my daughter got in the mail. I dont know many personally willing to get out that early either but its okay i work best on my own. i dont want to be looking for anyone in the store.. i can leave when im done etc. but i do like meeting up in separate cars and standing in line together. kathy

I say let them stay at home. More for me! To each their own. I love the thrill of the hunt and the whole thing

as do I....my opinion is these people are simply a bit on the "uppity" side...

(unless they do have an anxiety disorder which makes it hard to deal the crowds) I have talked to a lot of women too that "can't be bothered"...well, I CAN and I think by the posts on this site...there are more of US out there than THEM

I can easily understand not wanting to deal with the crowds and getting up at midnight to wait in line. I had fun last year though and I got some great deals!

I never went before cause I always had to work that day. Last year I had a chance and was 8 months pregnant and just didn't feel like going, I was afraid someone would hit my stomach. This year I'm going to try to go, but need to find someone to watch DS, hes only 9months old. I love sales. I'm mostly excited about the cabbage patch babies cause I'm a collector.

I can kind of understand why some avoid BF during the blitz hours.....and it all centers around perceptions. We see pushing, shoving crowds on TV news reports on BF's evening newscasts and some people don't want to be involved in all that. But the same people that avoid BF will gladly shop the last weekend or two before Christmas.

I find this odd, though, since the four largest shopping days are the two weekends before Christmas and BF consistently fininshes fifth in shopping volume. And with the two weekends before Christmas being the heaviest shopping days of the year, the crowds are much worse then than on BF.

But perceptions are just that....perceptions. I guess most people just have that frenzied mob perception of BF sales and tend to shy away....which is alright with me....gives me fewer people to wade through. :)

Yea I love the people that turn up their noses at me for trying to save a buck. I've heard "Oh I don't know who in their right mind would do that" or one of the better ones I've heard "You would really have to be really desperate or poor to stoop to THAT level". With people like that I don't waste my time with. OH well to each his own, I enjoy it so I guess that's all it matters!

People like that are great! I love seeing their faces when my kids/grandkids tell them the things that they got for Christmas gifts when these people (in-laws, my family etc) know that we don't make half as much money as they do but we buy nicer gifts for our kids/grandkids than they do. *S* It's really fun, the thing that gets me is that these people STILL will not believe me and go shopping my way even though they know the results!!

I can see why she wants the Escalades instead of the Jeep. That's a status thing, just like the vehicles adults drive. If she could get the Escalades for the same price as the Jeep she would do it in a heartbeat.

Not many people know this and I can't believe I'm about to tell over 25,000 ppl that I don't know this but....

I don't like going anywhere by myself and I'm terrified to drive at night especially by myself. But BF, I'm up and out the door in the middle of the night and wait in line with complete strangers.
