  1. My son is somewhat of a gamer and here's what I've found out. Each brand of consoles have particular games that are only for that console. Halo for Xbox and God of War for Ps are 2 examples. So one of the first things is know the games you want to get. If your kid wants Halo you're looking for Xbox one/s. If Uncharted or God of War are the games that are must haves, PS is the way to go. The new games don't play right on the ps3. You need a PS4 if that's the console you like. Xbox One now that's it's been out for while has issues with the fan so it get's hot and cuts off. The old xbox 360's would freeze and you would get what they called the ring of death when it got to hot. The xbox one just cuts off. The xbox one s, as I understand it is suppose to have a better fan. You can address the getting to hot on the xbox one by hooking up a little fan and have it directly blowing inside the vents. Either way, PS4 or Xbox One S, there's suppose to be a new consoles out next year by each company which will out perform both current platforms. For me. I'm a Tetris and Mario fan. It's gamecube and Wii all the way.

    Amazon deals

"But, if you will go to the Amazon forum on this site, you can follow it a little easier." The question was asked in the Black Friday section, under store specific- Amazon, From the post perhaps there's another area on the site for Amazon?
  3. Is there a lightening deal list? It seems like in years past, there was lists of say dvds and games and the days they would go on sale. Is it just me or is Amazon trying to make their deals more difficult to take advantage of?
  4. Last year I purchased the Xbox 360 w/kinect and with the exception of 2 games, the Kinect isn't used. This year, I'll be purchasing the Xbox One for the Master Halo game and Forza 2. The kid has been playing the New Dragon Age game which was made for the Xbox one and PS4, but they did make a PS3 version. The game after playing it for a few hours causes the PS3 to screw up. The new games may come in the older platform, but they are made for the new.
  5. Forza 2 $30 and Overstreet $40, I hoping $10 less for each. Should have done the Target b2g1F last week. I agree nothing to jump up about.
  6. Target is the King of Black Friday. I'm one of those people who wants to make sure I have my must haves in hand. I've always had a good experience at Target on Black Friday/Thanksgiving. I like Target on Black Friday because Target will have specials like one year if you bought 2 bags of Hershey candy you got a Hershey ornament free, another year it was a teddy bear free with purchase and then another year a Hershey's candy dish. The items weren't advertised, but were available as in store bonuses. I like the extras you can't get on line.
  7. I've done Black Friday at Target for years. They have printed maps that they hand out to those in line before the doors open. The employee normally asks you what you are looking for in particular and will point it out on the map. Normally there's many employees all over the place outside along with police. Once you're inside, an employee or 2 is with each of the special items handing them out. As things are sold and they have additional stock, it's restocked until it's sold out. Then they post a picture and sold out in that spot.
  8. For sure 360 games do not work on Xbox One. The $379 bundle with the Halo Master plus another game is a good deal, but AC bundle for $329+ 30 gift card is also better. The Halo Master bundle is a .com offer. Target's AC bundle $329 plus $50 gift card is hot if you also have a Target red card which gives you another 5% off.
  9. It says the ads rules. It would be nice if they listed, but I don't remember them ever listing. Could this be the year they offer on line? We can hope. There's no maps. The games are in cardboard stands on wrapped pallets. You have to get there early to walk around the store to find them. Then you stand by the pallets. I stuck up deals with other people so I would pick up the games on my side of the pallet they wanted and they would pick up the games I wanted on their side. Pallet was unwrapped I picked 4 copies of 6 games and they picked up the games on their side. We met around the corner and exchanged. If there were extras we just put them back. It worked.
  10. Really! As if parking wasn't already bad enough. Sorry the place is congested and on Black Friday, people aren't interested in an agenda except getting what they are coming for.
  11. Last year at the Walmart I went to, they had pallets everywhere. The pallets were wrapped and at each 2 pallets there was an associate assigned 30 minutes before Black Friday time. The door buster tvs, there was a line through the frozen food isle. I got there an hour early so I'm not sure what time they had started lining up. Not sure how the tvs were handled. I was at the video games. The opening time came and the associate started to unwrap. People started grapping, tearing the wrapping off and then grapping the games. It was a free for all. I was next to the furbie's which was a hot toy last year and it was the same as with the games. No way would I bring a kid to that. I was there for the games, but I'm not sure how it would work if you wanted different things. I have one of those smaller Walmarts near me, but I went to one of the bigger ones. When I was coming home, I saw the fire department and everybody standing outside at the smaller Walmart. They had so many people inside the fire department cleared the place. Must have been a zoo. Glad I didn't go there. I think Walmart being opened has made the whole Black Friday experience there worst. Now Target, they are the Black Friday kings. I go there every year. They are organized, have crowd control and all heads are on deck. No running or pushing. Great experience. I'm sorry, but in my opinion, kids don't belong out in the Black Friday crowd. Arrange something. It's wild for adults and no way should kids be in the mix. You are either standing outside in the cold and then people want to get in and get out. Please leave the sick, crying kids at home and if you hit me once with the stroller I'll be cool, but twice there's going to be a problem. It's not a weapon to clear the path.
  12. I compose an excel spreadsheet of what I'm buying and the prices at different stores, print out the sheet and carry it with me to check it off. I see that might be good on a phone, but I don't carry one with me on Black Friday. No distractions, please. Although, I missed out on some alerts last year. I may have to rethink the no phone. I have the ads and coupons in my car. Unless I'm price matching, I don't take the ads in. Any price issue I may have, I'll deal with after the Black Friday rush and with customer service. Since the Thanksgiving openings, I'm do direct shopping. I know what I want, go in and get it and then move on to the next store. I'm up until 1 for on line shopping, up early cooking and then have just a couple of hours before I'm in line. I get the door busters and particular things on the list and call it a night. I'm up on the real Black Friday to do door busters and back by noon. There's 2 video games I'm after and if I can get them on line, I may skip Thanksgiving store shopping this year. I'll do the real Black Friday morning for things I haven't gotten on line.
  13. Good to know. I'm hoping since the games are bundle into 1 release that means it has all the add ons included as well. The $379 Walmart Master deal includes another game, your pick, and 12 months live and it's a .com sale. The Black Friday ads so far are offering 3 months Live at 1/2 price, but no 12 months deals yet.
  14. As I understand Halo Master, it's the past Halo releases plus the newest in beta form. Xbox One is not backwards compatible and that's their bread and butter game so they bundled their previous releases and the newest which is still in beta form into 1 game release- Halo Master Chief Collection. Although those past releases can be found for Xbox 360 as individual games, for Xbox One Halo Master Chief Collection is 1 game release.
  15. It's about the games the console are bundled with. AC unity with the $50 card or Master Halo with the $30 card. Don't forget- There's also another 5% off with the Red Target card. The $50 card is like another game free and depending on the game because of their other games deals maybe 2 games. It would be like 3 or 4 games vs 1 game and $30 card which would be 1 additional game. Target has an attractive deal. So far the best deal on Master Halo game by itself is Target for 45.
  16. Last year I watched the sun raise waiting outside at World Market. They opened at 6 or 7 and I had been there since 5. I left there and went to Stein Mart, shoppers but not crazy. I went to Kohl's and it looked like a storm had been through. Left there and went to Costco for my cookbook. I was done by noon. I was tired. The day before, Thanksgiving, I got up at 5 to start cooking. Cooked, ate and cleaned up to be at Walmart at 5 PM. Did Walmart and Target and home by 9, and then up and about at 5 AM the next day. W.ith the stores opening on Thanksgiving it's made my shopping more directed. Get what's on the list and move on to the next place
  17. Just my opinion, but to me, Target has stepped up. A lot of variety in the deals and real deals. I've done Target Black Friday for the last several years and it's always been a good experience. The only downside is you wait outside. There's crowd control, they hand out tickets for the limited items and maps where everything is. The store is stocked and they have lots of associates everywhere. Target does Black Friday right. Walmart has won the Xbox Console battle because of Master Halo bundles. To be the only retailer with Master Halo bundles goes to show the pull Walmart has. I've done Walmart door busters too, but I can't say it's all been good. Because they are open, the wrapped pallets are set on the floor wherever there is space and people crowd around the wrapped pallets. The bewitching time hits, the Walmart associate starts to unwrap the pallet, and it becomes a free for all. The pallets for video games last year were in produce. Walmart Black Friday time last year was before Target's so I did both. Then on actual Black Friday, I was out in 20 degrees at World Market for a Downton Abbey cup. They were not selling the cup, only giving it away to the first 200. I was 1 of those first 200. So unless some off the wall deal comes up, this year it's Microsoft on line and Target.
  18. I would suggest you take your Kids to the nearest Best Buy and play both consoles for a while. I've played both and the biggest difference is the feel of the controllers. The ps 4 and Xbox one systems really don't have that many technical differences. There are particular games like Halo for Xbox One and Unchartered which is only for the PS. The particular games only made for one system and not the other and the feel of the controllers make the biggest difference. Before you invest $350 in a console, I would suggest have the kid play each and see which one they like the best and make sure the games the kid likes is being released on that console. I agree I'm not buying a game about stealing cars and all the other smut in GTA, but each to the own. I think Sony picked a loser game for a bundle package. My kid wanted the Xbox One because of the Halo series is only on Xbox One. Now when next God of War or Uncharted game is released he may regret, because they are only PS games.
  19. I'm in the market for xbox one, forza horizon 2 game and Master Halo game. The choices so far are Kohl's $329 with $90 Kohl's cash =$239 (no games) Target 329.99 with $50 gift card= $279.99 (2 AC games) Walmart $379 w/Master Halo/ 12 months live & pick any game or Master Halo bundle $329 The master Halo bundle with 12 months live and pick any additional game is the better deal for the $50 more. What I'm going to do all depends on what I'm able to pick up Master Halo game, and Forza Horizon 2 game for. I hit the Best Buy sale last week and got the Xbox One AC bundle $349& free 12 months live- $35 movers and -$5.00 mystery coupon=$309 If I can pick up the 2 main games needed for $70, I'm good. If not, Return and buy at Walmart.
  20. What stores and what time will depend on how on line works this year. I'll be heading out Thanksgiving night for sure for the fun of it, but which stores and time really depends on what items I can score from my list on line. Last year I did the door busters. I then headed up home, picked up the 19 year old and headed back out so he could experience Black Friday crowds. He got to see the lines, but not experience the lines. If I can score his items on my list on line, I'm taking him out this year to experience the real deal- Door busters!
  21. I live in Va. so on BF it's normally cold. I layer up so as the day goes on, some of the layers can come off. My gloves I put in my pockets when it time to go inside. I wear the most comfortable shoes and 2 pairs of socks. (My feet freeze.)I don't carry cash, although I've heard it's best to in case the store has issue accepting credit cards like their system crashes. I don't carry a pocketbook to keep up with. I have this wrist band with a zipper which holds 2 credit cards and keys. I have my list on my phone or with my phone in my back pocket. I refer to it and update it after each store visit. I also have the printed ads in the car in case I'm not charged correctly. Last year, I was outside Target for 3 hours before the doors opened. I had my fold up chair which has a bag with a strap. 30 minutes before the door opened, the chair went in the bag and I was ready. No standing for 3 hours for me. I was rested and ready to go. Then afterwards, the chair stayed in the car. I don't use shopping carts, but I did use a big shopping bag to get my stuff to the register. I have my store loyalty cards and coupons in the side pocket of my car. I have my cooler in my car. I bring the fixings for leftover turkey sandwiches. I always keep bottle water and lemonade mix in the car. If I'm headed into a mall, I have a bottle holder which has a long body strap so my lemonade is handy. I also have a backpack bag or a reusable shopping bag in the car for mall shopping.
  22. Awesome! Thanks for posting. I would have missed without the posting. South Park has a new fan.
  23. Both Walmart and Target have Sony blu ray players as door busters. From the post, I think Sim31 was asking to have a better understanding of the door busters. I knew the 3100, but haven't seen the 2100 before. Do you know the specs on the BX210/2100? Perhaps you know the comparable model # and features made by other manufactures to the Sony BDP-BX510/5100, BDP-BX310/3100 and BDP-BX210/2100?
  24. I can tell you I just got the BX510 which my understanding is the same except the 5100 doesn't come the hdmi cable and the 510 does. It's sweet. I'm not into the 3d functionality of it. I prefer to go up in functionality in electronics than down since electronics go out of date so quickly. I wanted wireless wifi functionally. I have amazon prime and it works like a charm on the bx510. The 510 had all I needed in the box, was easy to hook up and the menu was a breeze. My understanding there's the 110/1100 which is not wireless 310/3100 which is wireless, 2d viewing 510/5100 wireless, 3d I paid $5.00 more for the 510 than what I could have gotten the 310 so I went with the more. I got it new for $59.
