evansmommy9902 Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 This is a La Nina year for us here in the west, and that last time it was a La Nina, we flooded bad, here in the Reno area. I just have a feeling that it will be raining or snowing on Black Friday & I've never had to deal with that! When standing in line for 4 hours before doors open, how do you stay warm & dry?
bigjimslade Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Layers, Layers and Layers. It is also a good idea to get a ski coat which helps.
ClemsonMike323 Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I've always been very fortunate to have dry BF's so I can't speak from experience but I would have to agree with Big Jim on this one. Never too many layers when cold and wet are involved. I may have to finally take the advice myself this year. Early reports for our weather are lows in the lower 30's and rain.
Jen8112 Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Layers, Layers and Layers. It is also a good idea to get a ski coat which helps. I recommend snow pants too.
amberjobryant Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 yup layers is the way to go, i already have my clothing lined out, we should be in 20-30s....so some comfy fleece pants, thermal top, insulated vest, light jacket, and heavier jacket, that way i can peel down as the day goes!
Tracy72 Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I wonder when they will start predicting the weather for that day....I would love to know what it is doing in NY that weekend.....PLEASE...PLEASE....NO SNOW OR SLEET OR RAIN ....
amberjobryant Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 right now on accuweather.com you can get up till wendsday of that week.........the trend here looks cold!
Tracy72 Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 thanks....I can handle the cold just no precipitation...
grouchers Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 It's predicting 40 degrees with rain and ice on that Wednesday for me. I'm thinking it will be cold & yucky here.
Kim3498 Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 (edited) We've already had snow in VA, so I'm not holding my breath for a decent forecast. Showing snow on Tuesday, and icy rain on Wednesday. Sound bout like my luck. Guess it will be lots of layers for my crew this year. Edited November 11, 2010 by Kim3498
SuggaD Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 its predicting sunny ad 57 for the high and 46 for the low on the Wednesday before. I could deal with that.
pogiporkchop Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 :yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck: For me it's showing AM icy mix with snow & rain later and a high of 34.
stationchief Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 For the average in the Phoenix, AZ area it's supposed to be about 47 degrees when the doors open at 4am. We gotta wait 'til next week to see the more 'official' forecast for BF.
tinkrbel Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 hasn't El Niño/La Niña been going for a while now...
dealluvr Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 i think it is every so many years it comes up not sure tho
brinak2005 Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Crap...they are predicting rain and low temps in the 30s for the 2 days before BF for me.......Guess I better get the rain gear ready just in case
shopping4my3son Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Tues. and Wed. are a high of 26/25 and a low of 20/21 with snow both days. I'm not even sure I'll be able to go yet. My DH started a new job and I'm not sure if he'll have off. If it snows I'd feel better. Especially since I live 20 miles from where I shop.
Miss Star Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 It's predicting low to mid 40s and rain here on wednesday of that week. I don't mind the cold, I just don't want the rain!
IrishWife Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 We're looking to follow the trend of those days in years past.... 45 degrees. Of course at 2am, when we roll out its much colder than that.
freesia39 Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 It doesn't occur every year, but with how frequently it is discussed it feels like it. I thought last year was a La Nina year, it rained SO MUCH. I was hoping for a not so wet winter this year.
mrs.winter Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Here in Missouri the day before it says a high of 40 with flurries witch will be fine with me on BF it puts me in the mood to shop for Christmas and the last 3-4 years it has been 50-65 on bf and for me that is too warm!!I would take a light dusting of snow and flurries Black Friday! :)
sweetdiggity Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Mine says 23 degrees for a high and snow 2 days before BF. I'm interested to see if this is accurate!
bigjimslade Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Here is the weather outlook from NOAA http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2010/20101021_winteroutlook.html
doublehsmom Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Its going to be cold her but thats what I get for living in wisconsin! :)
neboo Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I think it is a crime that they can give you weather "forecasts" for that far away. You cannot accurately predict the weather that is going to happen 3 days from now, not to mention almost 3 weeks.
HansieDZ Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Here in Missouri the day before it says a high of 40 with flurries witch will be fine with me on BF it puts me in the mood to shop for Christmas and the last 3-4 years it has been 50-65 on bf and for me that is too warm!!I would take a light dusting of snow and flurries Black Friday! :) I agree! What better way to Officially kickoff the Christmas season than with a little snow?A few years ago,I awoke bright and early (who can sleep much on BF Eve???) to a couple of inches of snow ONLY on the ground and none on the streets! Now that was perfect imo!The snow set the mood for Christmas, yet it wasn't dangerous to drive in.
