Perimeter Perusing at Target (Target Clearance Deals) - 2010

Was probably one of the first to figure out the signs were wrong! Although, they were still working.. and on my way out the one girl was talking about the backstock coming on the floor. By the time I left, there was no getting through the aisles! There were two women just stacking stuff on the floor with one kid guarding and two others going for carts. There were a couple things that I wasn't able to get, they weren't scanning right, didn't want to fuss about it. Forgot to use my $5 off $50 coupon too :( Might just have to stop back tonight after dinner... Maybe... Really waiting for a grill and a fire pit though!

Now here is the photo of the toys (closeups on my blog):

I saw a Playmobil Vet set and I really want to go back to get it later this afternoon if by some miracle it is still there. But they only had ONE markdown person working and he refused to scan anything other than what was right in front of him on the shelf. It was on the VERY last aisle and I had already begged him once to scan "one last thing" so I had to leave it there. We'll see if I get lucky!

Darn it-forgot to look for the strawberry shortcake and rainbow brite stuff! DOH!

Got to my store about 5 minutes before opening. There were people already waiting for the doors to open. Was able to manage to get most everything I wanted between the Layton, UT Target and Centerville, UT. Will post what I found later when I can go through it all.

My local Target went 75% today as well. They were still marking them down when I got there around 2PM. I got some good deals, but most have already been posted. I was especially excited about the Thomas the Train sets, because usually only the wooden ones go down around here but some Take Along ones were marked down this time and that is the set my son has!! :)

I went to 2 stores today and got (i believe) WAY too much stuff. The first store was not completely marked down when I went in the morning so I stopped by again after a playdate in the late afternoon and was able to get the items I wanted plus more. I'm sooooo happy. My best finds were items to stock my DD's play kitchen. (off the top of my head - I'll update once I read all the past posts)

### Playwonder Breakfast Set (includes pancakes) $3.68

### Playwonder Dish Set $3.72

### Circo Vacuum $4.98

### Circo Blender

### Circo Coffee Maker

### Circo Basket of Play Food $1.24 (I loved this!!!)

### Puzzle Patch 6 Preschool Puzzles $0.98

### Trio Bulldozer $3.74

### Thomas & Friends - Talking James (wooden version) $6.94

### Thomas & Friends Take and Play - Cranky at the Docks $6.94

### Little Tykes Lawnmower $6.24

### Princess & The Frog Serving Set $5.88

### Circo Train Depot $4.98

### Circo Repairing Station $4.98

### Thomas Windmill Set $12.48

### Duplo Farm Set $1.24

### Duplo Set $1.44

### Disney Cool Bake Magic Oven $4.98

### Chuck the Talking Truck $8.98

### Circo Bath Play Set $2.48

....

I bought a lot more than this, but a lot of stuff is still in the trunk. Will update as soon as I retrieve it from the car (and hopefully figure out how to take a photo of it). I'm most excited about all the play stuff I was able to get DD. Surprisingly there were basically NO true infant/toddler type toys at either of the 2 stores. One store I remember seeing some stuff at 30% off so maybe someone bought it. There was still a lot of stuff left that I didn't get or wasn't close to age appropriate for DD or #2 due later this year. Like the Nitro Laptops -- at 5+, I passed, but it looked like a great deal. I also saw a Fisher Price Cool Computer thing for $13.42. DH read reviews and most people said it was only fun to have but not all that educational so I passed (ages 3-5).

So excited! I decided to venture out with my 2 month old after all and was able to get birthday and Christmas present galore at 75% off. They still had lost left when I left around 10am (Washington, MO). My best find was two sets of alphabet nesting blocks for my daughter and my nephew. Only $3.24 each :)

I really really wanted this for DD but I couldn't find it at all. Great deal for sure!! Hopefully the alphabet foam play mat is enough. I'll check out another store tomorrow but I highly doubt that they will have it either.

Posting my finds, sorry if they're all repeats:

### Our Generation shoe set $5.12

### Mighty World archeologist figurines/playset $4.98

### Playmobile "crocodile hunter"-style figurines/playset $5.12

### Barbie glam dining room $3.98

### Hello Kitty science museum mini playset $3.08

### Bug Vacuum $3.74

### Elmo plush hand puppet $4.98

Only one store had "consolidated", so it is worth it to hunt in the aisles. Also, both customers and staff have been really nice at the stores I went to! Way to go Target, I was starting to get disillusioned there...

I went back this afternoon late and got that Playmobil Vet Hospital set!! I couldn't believe it was still there...it wasn't in the same spot...someone had moved it to a non-clearance aisle and I happened to find it. It was marked just 30% off, but scanned 75% off...woo!

Now I'm done. DONE. Don't let me back in a Target for a while.

Was at the store about 30 minutes after they opened. I was the only person back there, and employees were in the process of marking things. There was tons of things to be had, but I left only buying a few things. (not much I saw that my kids either didn't already have, or was in the right age group).

I did find a few things:

### 086000283 Pixos (big box w/ 800 beads) - $4.24

### 086001434 Disney Princess bead box - $3.24

### 087050586 SCX Slot Car set - $14.98

### 204040941 Pink Leapster2 - $12.48

### 087070615 Hot Wheels set - $4.98

### 087070723 Hot Wheels Set - $4.98

### 087100448 Chinese Checkers - $1.48

I saw the HUGE metal tonka truck for $7ish, the water table for $8, lots of air hog things (including the switchblade for $12.xx), and too many other things to mention.

Was sad to see all the lego sets were still only 50% off.

Oh what a day! I read yesterday's posts and decided that today would be a good day to make that trip to the outlet mall - and stop at every Target on the way!

Sheboygan (Kohler) Target: I got there at 9:00 and they were about 1/3 done marking toys. Someone was nice enough to scan the few things that weren't marked down yet and I got a cartload of goodies!

Fond du Lac Target: I got there around 11:00. No toys had been marked down further. They seemed to be busy consolidating and assured me that they would not get to marking down toys today - maybe tomorrow. I did check again around 3pm and nothing had changed. I did find a pair of shoes that my DD wanted in the freshly marked-down shoe dept.

Oshkosh Target: I got there about 12:00 and they were just getting started in toys. I put the things I wanted in my cart and wondered around for awhile. When all but one of my items had been marked down I asked one employee if she would please check my train set. It would take them quite a while to get to that aisle and mine was the last one in the store. She refused, saying that she had to scan everything in order. So I politely asked the other employee to scan my train set, explaining that it was the only one. He glanced around, didn't see any other customers close enough to see what he was up to, and scanned it for me. I understand why they don't want to keep stopping what they are doing to help individuals, but I am happy that he was able to scan that for me.

Then I headed over to the outlet mall and found a surprise sidewalk sale! If you are in the area Children's Place, Nike, and Land's End had some good deals - but that's a story for another thread,

Some Target goodies I haven't seen listed yet:

Shoes - all of these are fresh markdowns

### 093020611 CK Hutchings boys brown sandals 2.48

### 093092248 Toddler Girls' and Girls' Hello Kitty Glitter Slide Sandals - Pink 3.74

### 093092083 XHIL FAYDA Pink girls slip on shoes with sparkly sequins ot the toes 4.24

Toys

### 086000785 Etch a Sketch Freestyle (I found 2 colors - pink and red) 2.48

### 204040236 Fisher Price Kid Tought Noise Control Headphones 4.24

### 204060723 Circo Blocks 100 pc. Set 3.74

### 204033341 Circo Wooden Train Track set 3.98

### 086000785 Play-Doh Party Pack (10 small canisters) 1.12

### 086001050 Shrinky Dinks set 3.48

### 086002453 Easy Bake cookie mix 2.48

### 086002504 Scratch Design Princess sticker craft set 2.28

### 204021121 Banzai Toy Story Infinity and Beyond 3-D Water Slide (slip and slide) 10.02

### 204032805 Various Wooden Thomas engines 2.74

### 204033373 Thomas Wooden Colin the Crane set 9.98

### 204070736 (ASIN = B0017U9XB4) Lincoln Logs Big Sky Corral playset 8.24

Now I know what we are doing for DD's B-day party. I got a Toy story slip 'n slide, 8 water guns, and 2 fun rollers - now all I need is some 2 liter bottes to set up and obstacle course, some cake, ice cream and a pinata and - presto! - we have a party! I think we have the gifts covered...

Yeah, it can be frustrating when they won't scan for you, but they actually have a certain number of items they have to scan during their shift. If they don't hit their ratios, it goes into their evaluation and can cause them problems on the job. They don't have anywhere near as much trouble with people asking them to mark stuff as when they do toys. This is from one of my friends on the mark down team. This morning the first store I was at the team had gone to "lunch" at 8 when we came in (I guess if I started work at 4am I might call it lunch too), so I went through the aisles they hadn't hit yet finding what I wanted. I found an extra of each and put it in line where one left her cart. Then when they came back I checked the items in my cart till they were all done. Like you, all but 1, so I asked her to do it for me. She said "I knew you put those things there for me to scan!" She was laughing as she said it. I told her I didn't want to be interrupting her or getting in the way. She said she appreciated my way of handling it. I had a good haul today. Wish I could have found some Legos, but I got some good ones last time....

FYI, for those buying the Vsmile games, looks like it might be discontinued. The stores with the reset have a new Vtech game system. Don't know how compatible they are.

This great find brought up a question (I've only been PPing since January.) Since baby and toys departments got a large "reset" in January and again now in July, will housewares likely be having another big "reset" soon? Thanks to all the veterans for your sage advice!

So very jealous. Those Legos are not clearance at all here. Not at one of the 6 stores I hit.
