So it seems as if I'm alone here...I'm not looking forward to the end of summer. I hate pumpkin spice, cold weather and football! I really am a nice person, just don't like any season except summer and maybe mid to late spring.
-
So sorry for you loss.

How is it August already?! July only lasted about 30 seconds!
-
It's so hard to believe that July is almost over and that means my summer break is coming to a swift end. I love working at a school so I can have my summers off but I wish summer would go a little slower.

Welcoming July from the Florida Gulf coast. We're celebrating my husband's birthday today and heading back to Ohio in about a week and a half.
-
Got mine too. I was expecting it to take longer.

Welcoming June with almost 90 degrees today. Clothes are hanging on the clothesline blowing in the breeze. I just love this time of year.

Vacation is booked! And after dealing with a certain co-worker this school year I definitely need a vacation. Wanted to go to Waikiki Beach again this year but still not sure of things with covid so heading back to St. Pete Beach in Florida. We went there last year and had a great time so we're heading back that way. I can't wait!

May already! Less than 4 weeks of school left for us. This school year has gone by so fast!

What a perfect weekend weatherwise! In the 80s and sunny both days. Then today we're supposed to have a high of 62, back into the 40s (for highs!) Tuesday and Wednesday then 60s again. I can't believe April is almost over already. This month seems to have gone by so fast. We're having a surprise 80th birthday party for my dad in a couple weeks. His brother and sister-in-law are coming to Ohio from Texas to surprise him. I can't wait to see the look on his face! And on a sad note, this Thursday will be 8 years since my mom passed away. It's always a hard day for me.

If April showers bring May flowers, what do April SNOW showers bring? That's what I got on my way to work this morning and then again throughout the day. Nothing major, nothing stuck, but come on, it's April for Pete's sake!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

It seems like January lasted about a year and a half and then I blinked and February is over already. Like everyone else is thinking, hopefully the spring weather is here soon.

Hmmm...not sure what happened to my post from yesterday. I thought maybe I didn't hit the "Post" button when I was done with it,but then I realized that some of other peoples' posts that I had "Liked" aren't showing up either. Hopefully something isn't going wrong with my computer. Anyway, I'm here for February.

Update on Dad: He wasn't eating, couldn't swallow, just wanted to sleep and was very lethargic. I took him to the emergency room and surprisingly they weren't very busy. They got him in pretty quickly. Did an EKG, bloodwork, covid test and flu test. Everything came back as the doctor had expected, still positive for covid but everything else looking pretty good. Ran an IV through him pretty quickly and he was feeling somewhat better. They didn't have to admit him and he's been improving ever since. He's up moving around more now and wanting to eat. An interesting note...I asked his nurse if they've been short staffed. He said they're better now than they were. They had a lot of staff out with covid. But since guidelines changed it's not as bad as it was. He said he tested positive last week but with the guideline changes (healthcare workers can work even if they test positive) he's able to be at work. I thought that was crazy, but I don't make the rules. Thank you all for the prayers and positive thoughts.

Well, covid caught up to my 79 year old active dad. He can't get warm (no fever anymore for the past few days), has absolutely no energy, doesn't want to move or do anything and now his throat is fire-engine red. It's so hard to see him struggle to swallow. He doesn't want to eat, will only drink cold things (yesterday I got him to eat some chicken noodle soup and drink the warm broth) and just wants to sleep. He's a stubborn man and doesn't want to go to the doctor. I don't know if they would want to see him anyway, but I want him to get something for his throat. Don't know if it's just extremely sore as part of covid or if he has strep along with it. It's not easy seeing him struggle with this. My mom passed almost 8 years ago so he's there alone. I offered to stay with him but he won't have it. Could use some prayers for him.

Thank you, Illinoismom, for my gifts. I loved everything! Thanks, Bopeep, for putting this together again. I always have a great time with it! Merry Christmas, everyone!

Congratulations!!!

Good luck, everyone!!

Weren't these like $8.95 or something like that last year?
-
Where has the year gone?! No way should it be December already!

I don't know if it was a good deal since I didn't really need it, but I got one of the $128 TVs from the Walmart sale. Our current TV is a slightly larger screen, but when we bought it when it was new (when flatscreens were just coming out), we paid over $500 for it. I also got a queen size set of flannel sheets and one of the throws from Kohls (again, something else I didn't need, lol) for under $8 with coupons & credits I had.

Another successful day of Black Friday shopping in the books!

We started out at Menards around 5:30 this morning. We were maybe #50 or so in line. The worst part was the cold and wind. Last year they just let us in when we got there because of covid but this year the doors didn't open till 6:00. There were plenty of people there but it wasn't nearly as crowded as years past. It's normally shoulder to shoulder in there but not today. I'm guessing it was because they didn't have their ads out early. We got everything in there we went after. We made another trip in a while later and noticed that a lot of the items that were running low had been restocked so they had plenty of merchandise. And the craziest part was that the cashiers were standing there waiting for people to check out. We went to other stores too and the crowds weren't bad at all.
