How many people do you buy for for Christmas?
ilikefree replied to ChristmasShopping's topic in 2010
Including hubby and our 2 sons, I usually end up buying for 14 family members plus teachers. -
Please, this is why I started this thread! I love hearing from teachers as to what works and what doesn't. Thanks for your input!

Thanks for all the great ideas! I especially appreciate hearing from teachers as to what you like to receive...this was a real help!

My younger son is in middle school this year and has 4 different teachers, not counting gym, art and band. I'm wondering what to do for them for Christmas. He has ADD and these teachers are very patient, kind and considerate toward him and I'd like to do something to thank them that doesn't cost a lot. I do make a couple different kinds of candy around Christmas time but am not much of a baker. Last year for his teachers (he didn't have as many teachers last year) I did a little Christmas themed bucket with a movie rental place gift card with a fleece blanket and some movie theater candies and microwave popcorn. I'd like to do something they'd appreciate and can use, but won't break the bank for me. Any ideas?

The night before Thanksgiving my family spends the night at my sister's house. Then the two of us get up early and go to Meijer for the Thanksgiving day deals. Then my family goes home so I can prepare Thanksgiving dinner and my sister's family goes to husband's side for lunch before coming to my house. After dinner we all go back to her house and scope out the ads and make (tweek) our lists for the 1,000th time! :) The 4 adults play cards for a while and then we head to bed for a couple hours. Again, my sister and I get up at about 2 or so to head to either Wal-Mart or Meijer, depending upon who has what. Then usually to Menards and back to her house to unload and have a little breakfast. Then we're back out, going to another city (all before 9 a.m.!) for more shopping. We usually get back to her house around 5 or 6, both giddy from lack of sleep, but we always have a ball! Last year DH saw some DeWalt drills, battery packs and a few other things he wanted at Lowes so he and our 16 year old son set up a tent in Lowe's parking lot right by the door and spent the night in there. I guess Lowe's doesn't get tents set up too often because someone from inside the store came out and took a picture of their tent set up there. About 5:30 a.m. or so more people started showing up so they took their tent down and put it away before the store opened. They did get in and got what they wanted, but we still laugh at them for setting up a tent at Lowe's.

How many years have you been Black Friday-ing it?
ilikefree replied to ChristmasShopping's topic in 2010
I've been going steadily every year since 1998, the year before my last son was born. I remember going with Mom and Dad when we were just kids and it seems like there was hardly anyone out back then! We didn't refer to it as Black Friday back then, just shopping the day after Thanksgiving. -

Where did all my other points go?! I had several hundred, but when I signed in, my point balance was at zero!!

The kids are always excited on Christmas so we don't do a big sit-down meal. We'll have a crock pot of shredded chicken sandwiches, cheesy potatoes, shrimp dip, teeny weenies & smokies in bbq sauce, dips, meat & cheese tray. Just stuff to snack on throughout the day. Plus all the Christmas candies and cookies we've all made.
-
And we appreciate it!!

Here in our little corner of the world, they allowed that last year. We talked to someone who was there right after their Thanksgiving dinner last year and she had her chair, laptop for movies and other things.

So far the only thing I've used it for is going online (browsing and listening to internet radio) and I like it. The only thing I'd have to say I don't like about it is that the screen from top to bottom doesn't show as much as my desktop. Oh, and if you do a lot on it without the power cord nearby, you only get about 3 hours or so out of the battery. I leave mine plugged in most of the time, so that part doesn't bother me. It comes with Windows 7, which didn't take very long to get used to. As far as the disk drive/dvd player part of it, I haven't tried that yet, so I can't give you a review on it. Overall, I'm satisfied with it.

What time do you think I should get there for Rock Band for XBox 360? My son really wants this! Also, it is $50 on BF...I was in the store last night and saw it for $199. Was it the same one I saw? That seems like a really big price drop, plus they didn't have a whole lot of them.
-
Thank you Brad! What a great way to show off where I'm finding my BF deals! Congrats to the other winners too!

On page 13 of the pdf adscan, it says you can go to walmart.com and print out a map of the store and where items will be located, just put in your zip code. Does anyone see where that is on their site? The only place I see to put in a zip code is the store locater and then that just sets that store as my store. I don't see anywhere to print out a map of the specials. Can anyone help?

When I was in the store last Saturday morning, the manager told me that this coming Saturday they were having all kinds of cell phones. He didn't mention anything else, but then again, I didn't ask.

Do you have to have a prescription from your vet for this, or can you just order it without? -
I forgot one of my old favorites from when I was a kid...it's a movie called, "A House Without a Christmas Tree." You never see it on tv anymore, but I found it online one time. I remember watching it with my mom when I was younger.
-
I knew I'd forget some...just LOVE Rudolph!! And yes, I like A Christmas Story, but to watch it 24 hours straight?! Wow!
-
Christmas is my favorite time of year and I have several. I love A Christmas Story, Charlie Brown Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, Garfield Christmas, Christmas Vacation and probably more that I'm forgetting!
-
Same here...only this year I'll have to remember to hide the notebook BEFORE the kids get home from school. One year I forgot and left it out and DS #1 found it and, unbeknownst to me, read the whole thing. The little booger!!

Prices effective November 1 - November 7, so I'm guessing this isn't the Secret sale.
