  1. I am in Florida now but lived in Houston for quite a while. I sure do miss getting the Chronicle as early as 10 am on saturday morning. Do they still have them delivered to your car at almost every light?
  2. I searched for at least an hour here yesterday, nothing spectacular at all. darn, darn, darn.
  3. never too early. just keep them coming and invest in some decent storage boxes
  4. Very good point. I guess since I am a nurse I shouldn't be encouraging people to potentially put their health at risk for a few bucks. Please pay attention to the post above, she's absolutely right.
  5. Wow, good point. I never thought of that. to the originaL poster, just call me when you arrive in jacksonville florida and I will take you on a diamond hunt. We can find some gorgeous earrings for your daughter and I know of a few places with great deals so we can get them priced under your budget. Oh and I hope my previous post didn't make it seem like I think certification doesn't matter. I just don't think that anything other than GIA or EGL is truly accurate. If you look online there are actually quite a few reputable places to buy stones. I know a lot of people wouldn't feel comfortable buying diamonds online, but I have done it a few times and have always been satisfied. That's just me. Have fun no matter what.
  6. just a few thoughts here. first, I wouldn't get hung up on the color or clarity rating for such a small stone. What I mean is, judge the stones yourself by looking at the stone through a loupe and also with the naked eye. In my opinion (only mine) unless the store uses GIA or EGL certified grading, you really don't know what you're buying anyway other than what you actually see. By that I mean you may find a stone that looks near white with no visible occlusions and is graded by the "store" as E, Vs 1, however the very same stone may be graded by GIA as G, S2. The bottom line is just buy what looks gorgeous to you unless you're looking at the stone as an investment. If you're looking for an investment, you probably can find much better choices than diamond earrings. Oh and BTW, little girls look absolutely adorable in diamond earrings. Another opinion. No matter what size or grade, the ideal cut (round) stones always sparkle the most.
  7. Even though I am not the original poster, thanks for this info. I have been buying from Oriental Trading COmpany for years and I just briefly looked at smalltoys and you're right, it is cheaper and it looks like they even have a much bigger selection.
  8. I try to take advantage of those specials too. We had a 25.00 CVS giftcard coupon a few Sundays ago but this one was different than I had ever seen. It was only good for a transfer prescription and even then, if the med had ever been filled at CVS before (new or not) it did not qualify. I think I have one of the coupons around here, but it states in big letters, good in Florida only. Keep your eye out for others. I have never seen one for Walmart, but Target,Kmart and CVS seem to have them every couple of months.
  9. Depending on your budget and the time that you have for preparation, you may want to try oriental trading company. I order from them frequently and it seems like a good deal. If you look online rather than their printed catalog, you can usually find some stuff dirt cheap. I haven't found a way to specifically search for sale items, so it does take a little while to locate the specials, but at least for us, it has always been worth the time. Also, they do offer free shipping for $60.00 and up orders.
  10. I order from them frequently and have never seen anything outside of the free shipping with 60.00. My last order, for classroom valentine goodies was 61.03 and the shipping charge was zero. Too bad you didnt post just a week earler, I could of added your item to mine and mail it to you for actual cost. I understand about not wanting to pay even the minimum shipping charge. Maybe someone else has a magic code, Kristyn
  11. I don't have any use for the cooler but I live at the other end of the Buckman in Mandarin, I think I need to cross the bridge and go to your Target since you seem to have one that really has scores. The Target here (almost the corner of 295 and San Jose) is really crummy and has been for over a year now.
  12. I vote for Kohl's. You didn't mention whether your hubby needs special sizes, but they have a very good selection of big & tall sizes. My husband is 6'4" and sometimes finding the fit is a challenge. I think Kohl's has great prices, just don't buy anything that's not on sale since everything eventually goes on sale.
  13. Wow! it seems like everyone is finding some terrific deals lately. As usual, my Target has nothing even close to everyone else's scores. But I am excited for those that are finding them. I do want to say that I giggled when someone said they got a sled. My thought was "no way, Target doesn't sell sleds!", then of course I realized that they wouldn't sell sleds in Florida Targets, but I imagine that colder states get a lot of stuff that we don't see. Have bunches of fun with that sled!
  14. I don't know about FeBreeze sales but I have seen several Frugal Living type forums that have recipes to make homemade FeBreeze. The posters swear that it works just as well. If you can't find it (if you're even interested) send me a PM and I'll research it for you.
  15. I don't know where you can buy one but I just wanted to say that it sounds like such an adorable idea. She's a lucky girl to have someone that cares enough to put himself into the hunt. Many men, including mine, just handed me a credit card and said "get whatever you want". No matter how much you spend, your ring will be worth a zillion times more than mine.
  16. This holiday season was my first trip to Victoria's S. but I will feel a holiday mood for at least a few more days. One day this week I bought 5 gold lame' bags with red heart outlines (1.99 each!) and 5 boxes of bath and body lotion gift sets for $2.50 each (75% off 10.00) They gave me their striped bags (the ones with handles) that were just perfect for the gold bags and the lotion sets. Wow, it's to type in the dark when you're high. I didn't say I was, I just bet it would be hard.
  17. I called my Target to see if they had them (jacksonville Florida) but they did not, I was going to offer to buy and mail it. They do not have one on their shelves (according to a toy department person).
  18. Publix always has lots of B1G1F on so many items. Like you, I couple their sales with coupons and frequently have free or almost free goods. Do they have double coupons at any Publix where anyone else lives? I'm, in Jax and I have never seen a double coupon at any publix or anyplace else. When we lived in Houston, it seems like almost every grocery offered double coupons. By the way, did everyone get the Sunday paper, it had several absolutely free item coupons. I love those even it's an item that I would never use, I just add it to my "help someone in need" boxes.
  19. today I received 2 enfamil checks for $3.00 each (next step ProSoBee Lipil Toddler Formula). I know it's not much to offer, but when you have babies I think it all helps. Anyone who needs them, please send PM and I will mail on Monday. I still can't figure out how I got signed up for a new baby list. update - coupons sent to the only person that requested them
  20. My absolute favorite was a framed professional photo of my 3 kids, son (6), daughter (23), daughter (24), okay I might not have my daughters ages exactly correct but it's pretty darn close. Also a tinkerbell velvet bag from a board member that is really special to me (she knows who she is).
  21. I ask at the register too. Okay, I confess, I usually tell them I forgot it at home but last time I just asked the girl if I didn't have one that I forgot, but just told her I did, could I still get the discount and she said yes and discounted the highest regular price item by 40% or maybe 50% (whatever the value of the coupon was for that week). The worst thing that can happen is they will not honor the "forgotten" coupon, but they don't burst into flames or anything.
  22. Jacksonville Florida, just like others, 75% off but I think I was a day too late as there wasn't a whole left over. I was able to use others experiences and did find a lot of things in non-christmas sections that were also 75% off. Now, let's see if Walmart is up to it!
  23. Jacksonville Florida Target - Christmas stuff 50%, Toys 30%, 50% and lots of 75%. I bought quite a few National Geophraphic toys for 75% off and lots of Bratz Diamond sets for 75%.
  24. Jacksonville FLorida - seemed like an average SATURDAY paper
  25. Okay my turn. Yes, just like everyone else I saved like a zillion dollars, but even more valuable in my near lonely little life, I have "met" some really nice people on here. Sad perhaps, but I live with a city that has a little over a million people, and I barely know what my neighbors look like. This is fun. Kristyn
