  1. Something that is important also ... is how does it fit into your hand. I had a digital camera given to me as a present ... and while at the time it was considered 'Top of the Line' it took great pictures did everything that I need from it ... it does not fit my hand. So go to one of the stores that has a bunch of them out for you to try and hold them in your hand like you are taking a picture ... hold them like you are walking ... think about where you are going to keep it (pocketbook, case, pocket). Does it need it's own case ... Does it safely go into something else you have to carry?
  2. My Michaels is redoing the whole store and has a bunch of stuff for 90% off ... I spent a whopping 8 bucks ... two whole bags of stuff ...
  3. The pass is for one person who may go whenever the pass allows (sometimes they do not allow a pass or a certain pass on holidays and such) ... the guest passes are used with the season pass holder ... for example ... wife has pass ... hubby goes in with the wife and guest pass ... then child goes with another guest pass .... now as for allowing only one guest pass at a time for each season pass holder ... that I do not know ... One thing to check on ... make sure that the guest passes are usuable on days that you wish to use them ... select days could be Tuesdays in October ...
  4. Yes, there are a few stores that do that ... heck, it even happened once for me at Walmart.
  5. Gotta watch those penny slots ... while they seem inexpensive ... most of them take more than some of the quarter machines. The waitresses will come by the slots more now because they have discovered that there is more money in the slot machines than the table games. Just watch the penny machines ... they say 'play 200 credits' that is 2 dollars ... and some of them even take more than that. Additionally, they can allow you to 'win' much more often than the other machines, they do this by giving you a win of 50 credits for your bet of 200 credits. Where the quarter machine has to give you back at least the quarter you started with. That is not to say that you can't play any machine you wish ... just that they are very adept at deception ... as in the penny machines you can win 50 or even 100 credits every pull ... but you are not getting even for your bet.
  6. Do you want to stay on the strip ... or Downtown? The strip is the nicest but some are pricey and there is some distance between each place. Downtown is cheaper in some ways but some of them are pretty sad. Also, it will be hot there. Will you be renting a car? If so ... then perhaps one of the newer ones would have better rates and then you would have access to the strip as well as downtown without cabs or the new train thing. I would try the individual websites for the casinos. Terribles is off Flamingo and close to the bottom of the strip (Excaliber, MGM, Hilton, New York New York, Bellagio) they have a new section just opened a few months ago. How long are you going for? The town does not turn off the lights but are you going to gamble or the shows or the Tigers and such? Gambling can be done anytime of the day ... but the shows are usually evening and the Tigers and such are afternoon. For the airlines ... you just gotta shop around ... don't forget Southwest I am not sure if they come up on Orbitz or those sites ... but every third plane into and out of Vegas is Southwest. However, some of the hotels if you stay there will give you an airline voucher but you will be paying for that in the cost of your room.
  7. I shop my DVDs at Amazon.com ... they have 'new and used' ones from individual sellers. I have had only one problem with one of the vendors but Amazon refunded my money. I have purchased both books and DVDs this way as they are 'durable' unlike tapes. They tell you where it is shipping from ... and the shipping rates are all the same posted to each one. You can also check out the seller as they request feedback after you have received your product.
  8. Waldenbooks and Borders were always under the same 'hat' ... Borders was the big mostly stand alone stores and Waldenbooks the small stores usually in the mall. They are also Amazon.com. Best job I ever had working for them.
  9. I have found the cotton ones a bit better ... only because they are a bit heavier. If the poly ones are to light they are difficult to turn. I am sure there are some that are good poly or cotton ... ask for a demo in the store. TerryAnn
  10. I am a crafty person ... and am always looking for things like this. This year at CVS when they went to 90% I got some really nice beads by purchasing the garland. You cannot use the ones that the bead is actually attached to the string ... but there are a few that bead 'slides' on the string and can be taken off and used for other purposes. I also got some ribbon that was 'string' like to put on the ornaments I make ... it is a bit prettier than the string that I usually use ... and cheaper. Got some really nice bells at Walmart for 10 cents apiece ... always a nice addition to an ornament. TerryAnn
  11. Swing set is an excellent idea for the one with a yard a good one will 'grow' with the child ... ie. the bucket swing can be changed to a regular swing when the child is old enough. And if it has a slider (one of those swings with two seats) you can also 'swing' with the child. There is a car that has a handle like a lawn mower so that the parent (or whoever is with the child) can push till the child either learns to use it themselves or gets tired. Sandbox is an excellent idea also ... get one that has a cover ... it will keep out the rain in addition to a bit of protection from the kids adding yard dirt to the sand. Hope this helps TerryAnn
  12. Actually, Nancy Drew may be good for her. I worked in a bookstore for years and there is new Nancy Drew stories which bring her 'up to date' in today's world ... so for a 9yo I would recommend that you get one and let her plod through it. Some children will take a bit longer to read a book ... but happily with a series ... they can get into the character making subsequent books easier and also more interesting to the reader who wishes to know more about their 'friend'. TerryAnn
  13. Thanks for the coupon ... I got the pliers I needed ... they didn't have any spagetti beads ... so I will have to find a Michael's coupon to get them ... TerryAnn
  14. lol I like the last one ... "burst into flames or something" ... I will definately ask at the counter. I have a really tight budget on what I need from there and without the coupon it doesn't pay for me to go there. Wish I had an AC Moore ... I get to go there when I visit my sister in NY and this year they had exactly what I wanted ... at 3 dollars cheaper than Michaels ... and it was 1/2 off ... Thanks everyone TerryAnn
  15. Does anyone know where I could get the Michaels 40% off coupon besides the newspaper. I do not get the newspaper and to buy a whole paper just for the coupon defeats the purpose unless I wish to buy a big item.
