  1. I'm not sure if things have changed since I've been to Houston (few years maybe??) but in store shopping at NM they will gift wrap and ship (to the recipient) for free also. We don't have a NM here. I love jacksonville but it is not a shoppers heaven. Houston, oh yeah, that was a shoppers heaven!
  2. 1. Ordered the Flat screen HDTV 2. Thought it was pending until... 3. Last night got the dreaded, you've been cancelled..oh well.
  3. Please accept my sincere apology if my response was offensive. I in no way meant for it to be however when I read it today I can certainly understand why it may have have been interpreted as such. Actually I was just frustrated because I felt as though we couldn't help you. The last post about "trends" rather than brands was probably the type of answer you sought and I agree, the current trend is heavily weighed toward metallics. I was in Target today and saw some really nice looking "trendy/metallic" bags in the $30-40 range. Another current trend is shiny (I think it's called patent leather) - someone posted that she is going to have a beijo bag party and all of the Beijo bags are absolutely gorgeous for the price. They are not sold in retail outlets (or not in jacksonville florida), you must buy them from a Beijo rep (hey Beijo rep, help me out here please) they have a website that tells the story and has pictures, but the pictures cannot even come close to the beauty of a live Beijo. I have several (okay, too many) and I have never carried one without someone commenting on the beauty. They are quite addictive though, it's hard to own just one. They're over $50.00 but not much more, I think the most I ever paid for one was $130 so they're perfect for everyday use. And, even for someone who may be a little rough on bags, scratches buff right out and they always seem to return to nearly perfect condition. Okay it's 3am, I really must do something about this insomnia.
  4. same thing here, I have used almost the exact same words...."is that the best you can do on the rate?" and like this poster, I even ask again. Polite is an absolute and always address the person by name. I even go probably too far and throw in a " Bob or Mary (whatever) does your direct superviser know what excellent customer service skills you provide in your job as a reservation host? If not, he or she should certainly know, I'll make sure to fill out a satisfaction survey upon arrival." If you do it in the middle of your request, you can bet you'll get the best deal available. Word of caution..if the person is a total jerk, it's not worth it, just call another hotel. Does this make me a manipulating creep? I don't care if does, I just wonder.
  5. it's not just the laptop. I got the same email for a flat screen HDTV that I bought for my husband (okay, maybe for me). I called today and they said they should have all of the orders processed by the end of tonight or at the latest tomorrow (time?) she couldn't even tell me if my item was available since they had so many pending orders. like you guys, I was already charged. Normally I would be upset, but it's not a big deal....another TV, another laptop..they'll be around. Last year I bought husband and son very inexpensive laptops on Dec. 7th at Bestbuy. The season's not over yet.
  6. If you don't mind, call the store and see if they will mail, I was going to make a special trip. I still will if they won't mail, but if they'll mail it would help out. Thanks for the info - can't remember who posted the mailing info. Kristyn
  7. Unless you have to make a purchase to get the rebate form, PM me if you can't anyone else to get it to you. I will stop in Kohls and pick one up for you.
  8. since you started your thread asking about brands only and even became somewhat defensive when other posters questioned your budget, I'd have to say that I understood your budget to be quite higher. Most of the brands listed are for "trendy" are not within your price range. Perhaps if you would have divulged that info from the beginning , the posters could have been of mostr assistance. The brands I have seen listed may buy you a key chain from those "trendy" brands". You may to reconsider re-posting a thread asking what brands (withing the 50 dollar price range) are trendy.
  9. Freesia you are more of a bag queen than I could ever dream to be. I have to tell you something though, like you, I have never been fond of D & B, but the Giant catalog that I received in the mail really changed my mind. I went on the website that you linked and looked at new products and saw just a sampling of the bags that were in the catalog. They were really gorgeous. Just right for a new grad! ( you are a new grad, right?)
  10. I would think that engaging in the promotion of the business of copyright infringement would be "totally not worth it". But I'm just a simple Batboy in a complicated world. By the way, you didn't spend $72 for a $500. Coach Bag, you spent $72 for a cheap imitation of a Coach Bag.
  11. wow, you know what's worse than not having your state participating? Having your state on the "yes" list, but not in your city!! I guess Jacksonville isn't cool enough to survive. Darn. Double darn.
  12. Oh wow, I forgot about those. I have several Beijo bags and they are not necessarily trendy, but they are cool. I love the fact that they can take everyday use, scratches and dirt, everything...just shine them up and they look like new. The maker recommends using the dustbag for shining and buffing out scratches, but mine get so dirty I have to clean with windex first. FYI though, the newer D & B in their catalogs don't have anything (to the best of memory) in the 200. price range. I think an average for one of the newest styles (metallics) was probably around 350 for a full size bag. Even the most expensive one was only 575 I think. Before you can choose trendy for your sister, you really should at least have some sort of budget unless your funds are unlimited. If they are, I'd suggest going for classic rather than trendy, but heck it is your purchase.
  13. also depends very much on how much you want to spend. I just got a new D & B catalog in the mail and metallics filled up most of the catalog. They have some gorgeous bags for reasonable prices. I was surprised when I checked the pricing page.
  14. I'm happy they were recalled due to the effects of ingesting the dots, but I really wanted one so bad. It looked like fun, I was going to make little "things" with my son. Oh well. I wasn't going to eat those things, it's not like they're pineapple flavored.
  15. I received this today (very fast delivery) and what a surprise. I loved it so much that I'm going to order another for each of my daughters. The make-up traveler set looks almost too nice to use and all of the freebie goodies (that we all know are really not freebies:) ) are ver nice too. The holiday eye set could make a gift by itself. Gosh I love this place. Life is rough for a Batboy hiding out in the real world as a stay at home mother addicted to shopping. Uh, what were we talking about?
  16. I added the additional info to make it a little clearer. Didn't mean to offend anyone by the way. And I didn't say that it is something that I would do this for my own husband. Nor did I say that it is something that I wouldn't do for him. The best part about being adults is that we get to make our own choices. Well, that might not be the absolute best part part, but it rates pretty high. If I did offend anyone, I do apologize because I post too often here to make more enemies than necessary.
  17. to all who responded..thanks and ooohhhhh. I have seen those, I just didn't know what they were called. again thanks
  18. In advance I beg to not be kicked of for my suggestion here. A hotel at the nicest place you can afford. Not too many lights. You go first (not too far in advance -you'll see why) Start chilling the best wine/champagne that you can $$, light the candles, set out the glasses, maybe some fruit and cheese trays. I'm not very good at describing a romantic setting but hopfully you get the picture. Have hime meet you at the room and when he arrives, meet him at the door in your most provacative wear ever. You may need to excuse youself for a moment while he catches his breath and starts thanking God, Then, you can walk out hand in hand with the most beautiful blond that you could get to help with this special christmas gift. Don't worry about what to do next, the three of you will figure it out. It's a gift he would never forget. Just one word of wisdom...make sure it's not a gift that keeps on giving. Just so you'll know, I am absolutely serious!

    Lowes BF ad

Just wondering if everyone else just recently received a coupon (actually more like a card) good for $10.00 off any $25.00 purchase at Lowes? Not sure why, but we received one in my name and one in husbands name. In the last week or so.
  21. just wondering, could someone give me a condensed version definition of bubble coat? I'm in florida, we have jackets and coats, I've just never heard that term. It's no big deal, just wondering.
  22. or just be like george and make up your own charity (wasn't his the human fund??). anyway, it is not possible for someone to have it all. you can give them something that would (hopefully) cherish, would be unlike that of any other gift and something that they do not have... a piece of your time. what about an invitation to a dinner (lunch?). Even if that is out of your budget (you didn't say), I can't imagine any person alive, even those in possession of every toy on the planet, that wouldn't love the caring feelings that go into a plate of homemade cookies. Most people that seemingly "have everything", at least to me, are the simplest to gift because they truly understand the "it's the thought that matters" stuff. Personally I think I am a pretty darn cook pastry and cookie baker. Even those that "have it all" don't have a plate of my mouth watering specialties unless they make it to the "list". This post is my opinion only. No hate mail please. Free cookie recipes upon request, but please let me know what kind you love. Oh, sorry no free samples and I do not sell cookies or pastries :). God I'm a weirdo.
  23. I clipped this coupon and don't shop at TRU, if anyone wants it, send me a PM and I will mail it out. The coupon to get the free gift card expires 11-21
