  1. Since we've been talking about our favorite game shows, I figured we could get creative. If you were to create a game show titled Black Friday, what would it be like? How would you play? What would the rules be? What would the prizes be? Who would be the host, and who would be the announcer? What would be the theme song? The best concept wins this digital cookie:
  2. Bah! You've clearly never done a Polar Bear Swim!
  3. Check a teacher supply store in your area. They should have something for you.
  4. When I had an Aeropostale GC I couldn't use (because I wanted jeans, and all their jeans looked used :gdpuke ) I stumbled across CardAvenue dot com which is dedicated to trading, buying, and selling GCs. I can't vouch for them because I never put my card up for trade/sale, but the site is specifically for this purpose and might have better protection for fraud here. Of course, I highly suggest you do your research first, either on the Ebay seller or this site
  5. Perhaps you could find some at Overstock and then request a deal from Overstock Adam.
  6. Now that it's October, I think I'll start filling out forms on the local news station & newspaper sites.
  7. I didn't look, but I'm guess it's the one that says GD is the best thing since sliced Hasslehoff.
  8. I've never seen them not have an offer like that. And yes, that's a double-negative, so they should have it.
  9. As of now (see timestamp): OK, so it bumped up to 528,752 when I posted this one . . .
  10. BF is the big day, of course. Then we fill in any gaps shortly afterwards.
  11. You still might want to wait for BF. Last year CC had the RoboSapien for $39.99. Then again, maybe $49.99 is the lowest they'll go with the RoboRaptor. We'll just have to wait and see!
  12. Last year at my Circuit City, they went down the line for the big ticket items. They did not have forms, but what looked like simple MS Word documents. Each ticket item was printed on a different color piece of paper. I didn't see these up close because I wasn't buying the large ticket doorbusters, but I saw employees pass by with them multiple times.
  13. CLASSIC! This should be the flagship post/video in a "Stores you won't shop = Wal-Mart" thread. I think we all just need to find the calm, easy-go-lucky Wal-Mart in the 5th video. I think the Wal-Mart associates handed out valium an hour before opening!
  14. One of the reasons I don't pay attention to the parade is that the announcers drive me batty every single year.

    Working on BF

Just wait until the year that Taser Guns are doorbusters. First one there gets them all!!!
  16. I remembered reading this in one of the basic threads: You did read all the basics threads, right???

    Working on BF

During BF04, I worked 3rd shift until 7am Black Friday. I ended up sending my DW to CC earlier and she picked me up at about 8:30am. Then we hit some of the other stores. Definitely not the way I wanted it to go :)
  18. Oh man, how did I not post in that thread last year?
  19. Another thing to keep in mind is that last year, GD went into "Lite Version" on Thanksgiving and BF due to the bandwidth hits. This might make the site better for a cell phone. I can't remember, but I think that the BF Forums don't change, though. The shopping list wasn't available last year under the Lite Version, though.
  20. My son had fun at this event today! We got there about 12:30 when they were putting out cupcakes and Twinkies. After that, he played with the Moon Sand for a little while. They handed out noisemakers and we marched in the parade around the store interior with Geoffrey (a large giraffe costume). We picked up a few free Yu-Gi-Oh cards and a Moon Sand temp tattoo. After 1:30, they put out a Hot Wheels coloring page, which my son colored. We also got a Hot Wheels poster and a paper for a free ticket to some Strawberry Shortcake movie (which is good for ANY movie!) My son was really glad we went.
  21. During BF05, CompUSA opened at midnight, so we left about 10:30pm Thanksgiving night. We returned home right around 2pm or so. My wife went back out in the evening to hit a couple more stores.
  22. If you use IE, you can rely on the Google Toolbar to help you spellcheck. The toolbar does the same for Firefox, but other FF extensions (and probably the 2.0 builtin) are better for that. Edit: and I think the official website is http://toolbar.google.com/
  23. Good article. They mention a couple of the other sites, but highlight GD.
