  1. I just watched a documentary on PBS about workers (for Panasonic and Sanyo) in Mexico and what the low cost of the product for American buyers costs the Mexican workers. Cliff notes on it is the workers get paid roughly US$11 a day, so about 60 some a week, and then have to deal with chemicals and toxins in their work environments, like lead, on top of that. Also, the factories for these companies wait for ANY amount of rain to fall and they release their contaminated water that goes down to the hill into the workers neighborhood streets, resulting in respiratory problems, birth defects like babies not being born with a brain, and the like. Happened to notice that I have a Sanyo tv and right now I'm more than a little ashamed that I own it. Now my question for baord members here is knowing this information about these companies, or information on other companies that do this kind of thing, are you still willing to buy their product if it turns out to be a a really good deal this BF? Or, well, at any time. Cause I won't be buying another Sanyo or Panasonic item, it costs to much in lives for me to save the few dollars. http://www.pbs.org/pov/pov2006/maquilapolis/about.html (Link to the doc.)
  2. The small and mighty bottle that is 2$ can do roughly 32 loads and usually runs around 3.50$ if you're lucky, but usually more around 4.50$ Add the 1$ coupon that ran through the sunday paper awhile ago, that's a nice little chunk of change you saved. Not to mention the sticker that's used with it means that Wal-Mart is auto price matching another store's price, so it will more than likely only be on sale for 2$ until this friday or next.
  3. We had the frito and cheeto thing. Recently the one in my area had their bread, the purple sandwich bread, for 50 cents a loaf limit 5. I haven't seen the ALL detergetn one, heard about it though and am hoping mine has that when I go shopping on Thursday.
  4. Wal-marts like to do different deals in different areas, so if this is just my local one, sorry They have regular sized regular type Colgate toothpaste for $1 (limit 5). It was sitting in the middle of the aisle at my Wal-Mart. Hope it is in your area as well.
  5. I work at WalMart. Last year I worked thrid shift, so I was there for the first hour. Well, electronics was nutzoid after the laptops that were cheap, but that was expected. My area wasn't bad, I was guarding the pallet of clothes, oh boy! big huge line there but later on I had heard that one girl in the toys section had been guarding the pallet of cabbage patch kids that were on sale and when she unwrapped them some woman elbowed her in the eye to get at them. Crazy people.
  6. Is anyone else going to be condemned to this besides me? It won't really be a problem if there isn't going to be anything on sale that I really want/need, but man it's going to sting a bit to not be able to shop it. I have been looking for a new job though, so maybe I'll get lucky, stop being lazy and actually looknig harder, and find a job where I'll have that day/morning off. I had to work last year, at Wal-Mart, but I worked third shift and was off at 7, so I missed the first hour but was still able to get the things I really wanted, which was mostly clothes and the 10$ vacuum they had (which wasn't that good of a deal as it turns out cause I recently replaced it with a dirt devil and didn't realise how much the 10$ eureka wasn't picking up, let us jsut say eww gross floor)
