  1. Heh, I was in Staples 5 minutes after opening and they were sold out. I ran over to RadioShack and there were about 20 left at 12 minutes after opening. Perhaps Cyber Monday specials will include a good deal?
  2. You should have checked 2 minutes earlier Most users ever online was 3,677, 11-21-2007 at 5:28 PM.
  3. As an ex-Buffalo resident, I'm curious as to which station had this, too!
  4. Leave for a midnight-opening around 10:45 pm and return home around 3 pm.
  5. If things held true to form, we wouldn't have any ads yet
  6. I'm sure this is a YMMV type of thing. With almost any "policy" in retail, you just need to find the right employee at the right time to get around a policy, and sometimes you find the wrong employee who won't let you use a standard policy. Of course, on BF everything is crazy, and that's just extra hassle. Plus, who wants to carry merchandise into a store on BF?

How would you find out if your Sears had this? Ask a manager if they have refurb parts and tools for sale in their repair department?
  8. Indoors: colored lights Outdoors: white lights
  9. I will always pick up items for relatives, assuming: It's a store that I'm already planning on hitting. It's not a limited item doorbuster.I can find their item in a reasonable amount of time once I'm in the store.
  10. Hmm, I requested Black Friday off in January One year, I had to work until 7 am. Not sure how much you can get done before 10:00, though. Two to four stores, perhaps?
  11. Yeah, I found my 2006 ad scans last week, stuffed away in a forgotten folder.
  12. Interesting question. It all depends on how many years you have to do BF until you become a "veteran", right?
  13. I don't know how relevant this poll will be after mid- to late-October, let alone a week and a half after BF
  14. Brad always posts the text files for previous years' BF ads, so here they are. Per Brad, these are helpful when you see an early rumored list for this year to determine if it is actually from a previous year. 2003 Black Friday Ad History2004 Black Friday Ad History2005 Black Friday Ad History2006 Black Friday Ad History
  15. Yes, KMart is the only T-day ad I pay close attention to. I'll only stop quickly between my house and my Thanksgiving Day destination. I'm certainly not going to spend hours shopping on T-day and wear myself out a day early!
  16. The insurance alone would cost more than the payment on a $38k vehicle
  17. This one has been in my cell phone contact list for quite some time. It's a great service for when you're out and need a number. Usually, I end up getting connected to an operator anyway.
  18. Sometimes a retailer will ship out an upgraded an item if they run out of stock for something. That way, they can fill their orders without having to deal with angry customers. (To the contrary, they get customers who are thrilled.) So maybe they ran out of the 128MB and started shipping out the 256MB product as a replacement. I'm even more convinced of this now that I went to their website and saw that this item is "temporarily not available online." Plus, that's the only iBratz item available on their website. And since they were kind to you, be sure to give them business in the future :) I'm assuming you didn't have any rebates lined up for the item. If so, this could cause some problems for you. Of course, there's always the possibility that you'll end up getting the item you actually ordered. Shipping notices have been wrong before.
  19. Yes, here's how it works. Store X lets their employees pick over the doorbusters first. Thus, all resellable items like computers, plasmas, etc. are completely gone before actual customers arrive. Guess how the customers feel and react when they enter the store to find no doorbusters? Guess how many come back next year? Guess how many newspaper articles are written about the incidents? Nonetheless, I'm sure many employees take liberties with the BF deals. For instance, perhaps the store receives 12 instead of the minimum 10 and then the employees pass out 10 tickets and keep 2 to pass to their friends later?
  20. The only decent deal here is getting the full 16-DVD Monty Python set for $74.99 along with a free $20 GC.
  21. Read the FAQ on the FCC's site:http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/digitaltv.html
  22. You'll hear people complaining about not getting items every single BF -- that's the nature of the game. Most of the complaints I have hear about BF this year are due to the lack of jaw-dropping deals.
  23. David Blaine is an illusionist/magician. I first found out about him through his Street Magic video, which is really quite cool. Lately, however, he does these lame long-term magic tricks like freezing himself in a block of ice for however many days or standing on top of a huge pole for a week or whatever. Just go to YouTube and search "david blaine" to watch some stuff.
