If you hope to get a PA on something you buy prior to BF, you'd better be armed with the policy on that from corporate! They've gotten really strict with that in the past few years. And sometimes they have items that have slight variations in their ad from what they normally stock, and therefore won't be the same SKU, though I think that is more typical of Wal-Mart...

Do you think the $179 Compaq Presario laptop in the WM BF ad is this one: http://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-15.6-Compaq-Presario-CQ58-A10NR-Laptop-PC-with-AMD-E1-1200-Accelerated-Processor-and-Windows-7-Home-Premium/20975097 Or is a "special buy" a specific one that they don't typically carry? We've already bought one from BB for $250 back in September that was 2 GB/320 GB like this one, but we are trying to compare, since the BB one was a Toshiba and we paid $250. We are getting it for our soon to be 9 year old for the online games he likes to play (Roblox, Free Realms, Webkinz), as well as for school work, with the intention that this will last a few years, hopefully 3, at least...

Regarding your Target question, I just read something on this site a week or two ago, where Target came right out and said they would not be doing the deep BF discounting of years past...pretty sure it was an article that had been posted from elsewhere...and IMO, they certainly lived up to that! Fine with me, one less place to try and get to... And for your other question, this is the first time in many years that I am considering WM to be my first stop!

My sister got one for my niece last year, and I liked it, but for one, the fact that you have to pay extra to remove ads, just out of principle, that turns me off...and I read that the newer ones don't come with an adapter to charge it, as the old ones did? So you have to buy that, too? It's a great deal for the Nabi2, but he will surely outgrow it in the next two years, and while I have another child after him who just turned 3, I think the technology will be different, and she'll want something different by then, so I'm thinking that's $$ wasted...the Nexus 7 has GREAT reviews, so that is a strong frontrunner for me...and did the Kindle Fire not have a camera? I KNOW my kids would want a camera on it, because each of my older kids has a DSi that they use and take pics with...we are getting the older one a laptop, and I'm afraid that once he sees the 7 yo with a tablet, he's no longer going to want the laptop, LOL...
-
ITA with this...I was considering getting one for my 7 yo, but the problem is in two years, when I think he's old enough for a regular tablet, I'll feel like I wasted $129, so I think we're jumping to a regular tablet even at 7...

The MEEP got HORRIBLE reviews...that's the one my 7 year old wants...still considering a Nabi2, Nexus 7, or Galaxy Tab...have to keep reading this thread before I decide, LOL!

IMO, exactly this...I have a 3 yo DD who is getting a LeapPad...she uses my Touch, but I still have to set her up with it, and she has trouble navigating throughout the app she's using, and sometimes nearly deletes my apps, or moves them around, so if I get her something that is just "hers," she can stop messing with mine...wouldn't even consider anything other than a child's tablet for her--she's way too rough!!

This is correct...it started in September, because I was sure to place one final order w/o tax the day before it took effect...they have warehouses here in PA, which I know they've had, because I've gotten things the next day that were only in Chambersburg, (I am in Lancaster county), so I don't know how they got away with it for as long as they did, but it DOES suck that we pay tax now...

Thanks! Good to know, so if I decide to wait until after BF, I know someplace else I can get one...

I'm pretty sure prices vary by area, and Brad probably has whatever area he's received the scans for, or if he posted it from the WM site, it probably reflects what prices will be in his region...
-
Wow Brad, you almost totally nailed the date on that one...I think you've done this before...
-
I thought the ones I'd seen that PMd, wouldn't PM BF ads...and I'm pretty sure that WM is the only place that carries this, because I've been looking...JR.com also carries it, but I think that's it...

was coming to post this too...yippee!!

My favorite thing about Black Friday is the thrill of the hunt, and getting everything on my list!
-
I forgot about this thread, LOL! That's crazy, because they are still advertising it, and November will be here in a couple of days!!

are opening at 8 PM on Thanksgiving night!!

Last year, I specifically remember seeing signs at customer service in the front of K-Mart, that said that they would not price adjust for BF prices for anything already on layaway...

I love the idea of reserving items! TRU prices are higher, but I think it'll be worth it to avoid the craziness involved with trying to locate one of the "hot" toys, like in past years...
-
Our TRU had a bunch back in stock when I was there on Friday...not a ton of different individual ones, but my boys had been in there the weekend before, and their shipment was to be there on Monday, so a few days had already passed by the time I got there...

Another fine example of why the USPS can't stay afloat...I placed an order on buy.com for two Wii Nunchuks, and two LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean Wiimotes from a third party seller through buy.com at the same time. They were both shipped out on 12/2 from CA, arrived at the P.O. in Lancaster, PA (only about 7 miles from my own P.O.) on December 9th, and were supposed to be delivered to me by the 11th. So the 11th was a Sunday, and on Monday, I looked at the tracking, and there was no activity since being logged in on the 9th. On the 14th, the nunchuk package tracking changed to reflect that after arriving here in Lancaster, my package went to NC, and was now currently in Philly. It arrived on the 14th. The other package, the one I REALLY wanted, just showed up the following day, with no change in the tracking, just apparently sitting for 6 days. Then to top it off, the remotes were all smashed, like someone sat on them, (and they were only in a poly mailer, so not well packaged, either) so I had to call the third party seller and explain all of this. Luckily, that day he sent out two new remotes via Priority Mail, and they were on my doorstep on Monday (and in a cardboard box this time!)...

Thanks for the reviews!! Definitely is tempting, and even if I don't get this now, I will consider it in the future, based on what you've said about it! Good to know!! -

I'd love to hear your opinion about this after you've used it a few times! I've thought about getting one, but not knowing if it will "really" taste like soda, has really kept me away...and I also wonder if it's a pain to clean? That would definitely deter me! -

Got several for DD last year, had to wait in line at TRU for the special edition one, and DD rarely EVER plays with them...she undresses them mostly, will squeeze one a few times, and then that's it...waste of $$ for us, IMO... ETA...she is 2 1/2 on the 19th of this month, BTW, to give you an idea...
