  1. LOL...I just dropped our service to Sundays only and have been wondering how I would get the paper that day...don't really relish the idea of going out to buy one early that morning. WHat a great idea! Thanks!
  2. I agree with the "keep them young" but this is a tech savvy generation and they are raised with this stuff. The trick is to let them use the technology without accessing the adult content that is out there. That said, my DS10 got a phone last year. No he is not from a broken home or a latchkey kid, but it is sooo nice to be able to contact him whenever I want. I always know where he is, but sometimes that means playing outside at a friend's house. So I can call/text him anytime without having to go through the other parent...and he can do the same. He doesn't have internet access on the phone, it only costs us $5 a month and he has a low tech phone with an insurance plan. His phone has lasted longer than my husbands...LOL! Now DS10 (almost 11) wants an IPOD Touch. We'll go with a 3rd gen model probably refurbished. I figure he can get the really spiffy one when he's old enough to appreciate their cost a little more, but I dont' see any reason to keep kids from using/owning high tech gadgets because I didn't have them at his age. It isn't owning the gadget that ages them.
  3. Start using the words "Better Business Bureau" and "Posting on Twitter, FAcebook, etc." I did this with a company I had issues with and couldn't make contact. Suddenly without any conversation or correspondence they refunded everything. Don't know what it was but something I said worked when I included those words. BTW, I did go online to the BBB and report my problem, so maybe they made contact.
  4. I have a Kodak Playsport which is waterproof up to 10 ft. NOthing could be easier to use and it's made to upload quickly to facebook, You Tube, etc. I personally liked the Kodak better that the FLip after a lot of research, but I don't know why he would say a small video camera is easier to use and better for You Tube...that's what these small cameras are marketed for and my DS 10 learned to use mine quicker than I did. If you can use a cell phone you can use a Flip! Besides, on all models besides the PLaysport, the USB connection is attached to the camera which eliminates keeping up with cords. It isn't attached on the Playsport model because of the waterproofing, but I love being able to take mine on the water slides and to the beach without having to worry about damaging it. Good luck!
  5. where are you trading in the old ipod and zune?
  6. I have been watching the Lego Passenger Train for my DS8. Currently it is 129.99 at TRU....but in the Big Toy Book that was just posted it is listed at 139.99. What's up with that...I thought they would have sales for Christmas. Should I buy now before prices go up for the holiday? This is crazy!
  7. Thanks Brad...and to think I almost didn't enter because I didn't think I had good ideas! Happy Black Friday everyone!
  8. 1. Custer's Last Stand should have been so protected. 2. Here's hoping it's our last game on the Gamecube and we get the Doorbuster Playstation! 3. OK Folks, we have 5 DVD players at the doorbuster price...who's first?
  9. LOVE my Roomba so much I bought him a friend...Scooba! It mops your floors :-) Like other posters mentioned, you will still want to use a regular vaccuum once in awhile, but this keeps floors pretty clean. One thing to watch for is Bed, Bath and Beyond...I found a Roomba on sale and then used the 20% coupon they send out. That made for a great deal. Also, my Scooba is a refurbished model I got on Overstock. Great deal there too...have had it 2 years with no problems.
  10. I have had a Sony E-reader for over a year and love it! The site has free books and some really cheap ones. Mine isn't even wi-fi which I know is really easy, but I can hook up to my laptop and download a bunch of books and read away for awhile. The battery lasts a long time....up to 2 weeks or more, and that's with me reading every night for an hour or two at a time. The Nook and Kindle both sound very nifty from all the posts and I'd probably love them too, but for my purposes the Sony is fine. I can share my books with my mom who also has one.
  11. I had a great experience last year also...bought hoodies for myself, DH, mother, BFF and DS 7 and 10. Love them! What happened to the person with the bad experience?
  12. I don't know about weird, but my DD10 wants an ITouch, a PS3 and a new bike...I need some deals!
  13. Yep, but they love to ask me about it and hear my stories! They all stand around me at THanksgiving like I'm some sort of freak show and ask questions like, What time are you going out? and How much will you save? It's hilarious, especially when I come home with my great deals and they haven't even started shopping.
  14. My son was born 10/24 and I was up and at 'em for BF. Of course I delivered vaginally so I suppose a C-section might take a little longer. I also breastfed, but that is what a pump is for :-) I just expressed a little extra the week before and left bottles of it for my DH. Besides, I fed him before I left and that bought me at least 3 hours. I figured it would be worse for me to be home frustrated and disappointed at missing the big day...mom's need their time too. If you feel up to it, go and don't let anyone make you feel guilty!
  15. Went for the 1st time in 1999...8.5 mo. preggers with my first son! Can't believe he's 10 now...and this will be my 11th year! Wouldn't miss it :-)
  16. Love it...I soooo want one!
  17. I'm with you! Especially more than 1, including an infant and preggers to boot? Nope, you'll enjoy BF a whole lot more without the kids and probably get a whole lot more deals :-) Not to get too personal...but you did bring it up...but I'd probably look for a sale on something to avoid #6.
  18. Funny...my kids have their check-ups tomorrow and I already promised we'd swing by TRU to check out the Lego sales if they have good reports! Hope we find good deals at our location.
  19. I got the Digiorno Pizza Party....I think you had to indicate you could really be into the basketball thing and I always put that we entertain alot. I think saying your are kind of a leader in your group for new ideas, etc helps. I've gotten 2 of the 3 parties I applied for. Good luck everyone!
  20. Shouldn't this be in deal discussions since there really isn't any deal to share...unless you got the email? Or can we all somehow use that code?
  21. Definitely shop around...I have bought games new on Amazon that were more expensive used in Gamestop! I think Gamestop thinks you'll believe you're getting a good deal just because it is used.
  22. Google the ISBN number on your book and it'll pull up the best prices. I order textbooks all the time for an alternative program in our school district. Most of the books will come up on Amazon's marketplace and I can pick the best price. Good Luck!
  23. Here's a quick run-down.....We have Guitar Hero with one guitar and I bout the GH World Tour with drums for Christmas. Also bought the Band Hero game only. It works with all the equipment. However, my friend's Rock Back game and equipment are not compatible with any of the Guitar Hero or Band Hero stuff we have. Hope that helps.
  24. Finishline gets my nod for best delivery of the season! Received the 2 hoodies I ordered late on the 15th today! Go Finishline :-)
