  1. Marcster....I just picked up the Garmin 750W for $200 at Cotsco for DH...it has wide screen, speaks road names (doesn't say text to speech but sounds like the same thing) and is supposed to be comparable to the 760 without bluetooth and traffic which he doesn't need. So, what do you think...did I get a good deal? I have looked at the 255W which is my first choice and will be on sale at BB on BF...but I am afraid I won't get it. I can always return this if I get the other or you recommend something else...I trust you!
  2. I have been wanting a slim pre-lit tree for my entryway too. I saw a great deal for a Martha Stewart one last week. I don't know about Christmas sales, but I know selections are slim after Christmas because I looked last year. Hobby LObby has good prices on them also....I may try there this weekend. Good Luck!:)
  3. Awesome....had $100 gift certificate...spent $98.72 shipped and got an extra $25 worth of stuff with discount....thanks! DH will love it.
  4. Just an interesting note...in the thread for "Where did the link for Free Boots go?" people are hoping to get their orders for free boots before the company figures out the error...no one seems too worried about the poor schmuck who made the mistake there....lots of fingers crossed...lol. Just thinking we seem to be way more honest in person! The other day at the gas station I filled up and then realized I'd just paid $4.23 for a FULL tank! And no, I didn't alert anyone, the machine reset to the correct price when I finished...but I figured after months of $4 per gallon gas and a 6 billion $ profit BP could afford a little goodwill and charity for me:yup:. just a thought...
  5. Boo hoo....code didn't work for me either, but got projection alarm clock for hubby....his broke...for $14.98 shipped! One more gift done. tks!
  6. Keep checking back with Target...I just ordered some....4 pairs to be exact because I wasn't sure of size or pattern and if I ordered over $50 there was free shipping. Then I returned what I didn't want to store. One pair was backordered, but when I went on and did the order again they re-appeared and shipped on time...go figure! Be careful of the sizes though...some run smaller that others and some are REALLY large! Good luck...I love mine.
  7. I always use Sam's and shop while I wait...1 hour. quick and cheap!
  8. We've done the Angel tree things for years and I have my DS9 and DS6 help so that they understand giving to those that aren't as fortunate as they are. However, the other day at work (school) we got 2 calls from people looking to get their kids names on lists for Christmas...after a little investigation (part of my job) I learned they were already on the list for the Angel Tree with DSS and at a local church. This really makes me cynical...why should they have people donating to them from several organizations while I work full time and scrimp and save and shop sales to buy for them and my own...I know, sounds scroogy, but I think I'm going with the elderly idea this year....what a neat idea. I know from my husband whose job takes him to retirement facilities that many of those people don't have families. I think we'll be visiting them and taking them gifts or Christmas dinner this year. Am I being ugly?
  9. Reading all of these posts has really made me ready for Christmas! We have the same one at a time rule at our house with DS9 and DS6 but at the in-laws it's a free for all. This always bugged me because the kids don't even remember what they got and you can't see anyone open their gifts. It's over in about 3 minutes and then everyone goes back to acting like its just a usual gathering....yuk! I like to drag it out and make it last...I can remember taking hours to open gifts when I was a kid and I want that for my kids.
  10. I love some of the ideas...especially the empty luggage. My BFF and i hide stuff for each other...and I use our basement...the kids are terrified to go down there!. funny story....when I was a kid my mom had a guest bed that was about 3 feet off the ground with a long dust ruffle. Playing hide seek one day I crawled in among the "stuff" she stored there and came face-to-face with a large stuffed rabbit that was to be my Easter bunny gift...I felt soooo guilty because not snooping was a biggie in our house and I knew how disappointed my mom would be if she knew I'd found my gift. I love surprises!
  11. I make a casserole like the Jimmy Dean one mentioned above. I can make it ahead and freeze until the night before. I pop it in the oven when we come down to do Santa....it's ready by the time we get through the gifts...gives us a little break before stockings!
  12. We always leave stockings til last...kind of after the chaos of Santa and gift opening...then when one of the kids says, "Is that it?" we can pull out the stockings...LOL. I love doing them...even if I have to fill my own too! Last year I put tix for Walking with Dinosaurs coming to our town in January in everyones with candy and all the little BF items I picked up. Gift cards are great too.
  13. We usually have 18-22 depending on girlfriends, step-kids, etc. so we do a buffet. Makes it easy to leave things out for 2nd helpings and late arrivals, etc. My mom always worries about me having to "entertain" that many, but I love it...even trying to figure out how many extra tables to set up and how far I can exten my dining room table. One year we had one end in the foyer...too funny! The more the merrier!
  14. This year my sister wants us to try Apple to Apple....... We always play games after Christmas dinner...played Apple to Apple one year...lots of fun! We even had guests dropping by and waiting for a chance to jump in.
  15. 8 two-sided tags for stocking stuffers...15.92 shipped....Yeah! Thanks!
  16. What if I'm thronging in my thong on BF...hmmmm...could be chilly!
  17. Cute idea...we did the race car thing and I bought tiny hot wheels cars for the race track cake. Anyway....do you have a Russel Stover store or outlet? We have one and i find lots of good deals on novelty candy there. Otherwise those are an awesome deal compared to others i've seen online...even with the shipping. Good luck!
  18. Yep, I've used it...got my discount using them for gift last christmas...awesome deal on mp3 player using it. Very easy to use.
  19. OK, I usually limit my posts, but I have to add this one....the lurkers are my pet peeve...didn't know that name for them 'til now. One year this old lady came RUNNING up carryng her cane and when people yelled at her she said she was disabled and couldn't stand in line like the rest of us....aaarrrrggggg....guess running and shopping all morning isn't quite the same as standing in line! Fortunately the cop at Target didn't buy it. This is why I don't do TRU on BF anymore, they refuse to get police help or staff the parking lot...too many lurkers!
  20. Are you kidding me? I would've been seriously ticked...I went when I was 71/2 mos. preggers, but I never got that big and I was in great shape....better than some of the really ancient and disabled folks standing in line with me. I think everyone has to monitor their own ability to shop and take into account their own limitations. You also have to look at the place you're going and what kind of crowd it is. Good luck this year everyone...stay safe!
  21. Hi all...I'm Erin, 37 years old, married to hubby, John, age 40. We have 2 boys ages 8 and 5 1/2. We live in Anderson, SC. (near Clemson University for all you Tiger fans!) Not the greatest shopping mecca, but we are getting a Kohl's and Dilliards this fall....yeah! I am a school administrator in a district that I love...and I am off on Black Friday. Have been a member since 2006 but lurked in the shadows for a few years before that. Can't wait for this year's deals!
  22. My first year I was pregnant and didn't know if I'd make it through Christmas....and I was hooked. So, this will be my 9th year...I am now the person i used to make fun of!
  23. Sorry...couldn't help it...my red pen was twitching! I work for the public school too...the pay may not be great, but I can save enough on Black Friday to make up for some of it!
