  1. Definitely Time Life, I much prefer 'traditional' versions over anything by 'modern' artists.
  2. The ads show what you are buying and the price you will pay. No scams there. It's up to you to decide if it is a good deal. Personally, I find many offers every year I can't pass up, some I'd like to buy, but don't really want. Many that I don't want or don't think the price is that great. But there's certainly no scams - The only problem I see is waiting in line to get what you want, arriving early enough to get in front of the line, and the disappointment of the store running out if you aren't quick enough. But that's what makes it so fun!
  3. GameCube - best kids games (Mario, Zelda, etc), but technically inferior to the other 2 systems in my opinion. PS2 - most games available, oldest system of the 3, technically inferior to XBox. XBox - most advanced system of the 3, game selection less than PS2, more 'adult' games, rather than games geared for younger players. Best internet enabled multiplayer games. The Xbox is my preference, but you really have to look at your needs. For younger kids, I would definitely go with the GameCube, especially as cheap as they are now. And yes, the Xbox 360 is due late this month. Although I bought the original Xbox as soon as it came out, I would wait and let the prices come down this time around. I currently have an XBox and Gamecube, not looking to buy a new console any time soon.
  4. Well, you may need an antenna if the sat company doesn't carry your locals, but you should get an OTA (Over the Air) tuner built in with the HD receiver you get, so you won't need a separate tuner for OTA signals. If your just talking SD (standard definition), something like 90% of the population can receive locals from either D* (DirecTV) or E* (Echostar - Dish Network). D* has just started offering HD locals in Detroit, and should carry the top 25 markets in early 2006, top 75 markets in HD by end of 2006. :)
  5. Only about 10% of population do not sub to Satellite or Cable TV anyway (so you will get a tuner from your provider), so I never saw a monitor only as a big concern to most people, certainly not me.
  6. If this turns out to be real, there are some fantastic buys at BB this BF!
  7. Is Laguna Beach appropriate for 14 year olds? I haven't watched an episode, only a few seconds, but I am thinking no. My DD wants season 1 for Christmas.
  8. I had something similar that worked pretty well, until DD and her friend took it apart and had a sword fight with two sections!
  9. Best Buy! Then when the employees open the doors to come in, I would have proof that they did NOT have the minimum quantities in stock that the ad promised!
  10. This past weekend, DW and I went through each strand (both indoors and outdoors) replacing bulbs and throwing out strands that we couldn't get to work. Only have to replace 10 this year! I did notice a few people putting their's up already, but no one has turned them on yet. <edited to give proper credit to DW>
  11. 100 lights per foot is the bare minumim, IMO. Our tree is 8 1/2 or 9 feet and I usually have 15 or more 100 light strands on it each year.

  14. Isn't the online price from Yankee Candle direct quite a bit higher than what you pay elsewhere? We only pay 18.99 at most (sometimes 16.99) for the 220z candles rather than 21.99 online price, plus no shipping.

    We're on CNN.com!

Congrats! As if we needed further proof this is the only BF site you need!
  19. IMO, the best computers and printer deals on BF are at Staples and Office Depot. I'm anxiously awaiting those two ads.

    Scene It Game

New WalMart circular dated from 10/30-11/05 has the original Scene It edition listed at a Rollback price of 26.88.
  21. I wonder if these will be available online as well? My work offers safety incentives for accident free quarters and Harbor Freight is one of the choices we can choose from. They usually have some good buys year round, if you are into tools. :)
  22. I just buy rechargeables now, definitely worth the initial extra cost. BTW, last Friday, Target had a 4 pack of Kodak rechargeables at 50% for only 4.99. They also had the charging unit for anyone who needs that at 50%, don't remember the price exactly, but I believe 19.99 marked down to 9.99. They were on an end cap in the electronics department, and had several packages.

    mp3 players

You upload from your PC using the software that comes with the player, usually via a USB cable.

    mp3 players

MP3 Players play MP3 files. :) The Ipod is a particular MP3 player, made by Apple. I prefer the Ipod, and they are surprisingly a better value than a lot of other MP3 players out there, especially when you consider the capacity and ease of use. And in case you didn't know, mp3 files are simply audio files. You can create mp3 files from your own CDs using free software. The best thing about mp3 files, IMO are the relatively small file sizes. You can fit 15 regular songs on a CD, but if you have a CD player that plays MP3 files, you can fit over 100 songs on one CD. Audio quality may not be quite as good as normal audio files, but depending on bitrate used, you can't really tell the difference.
  25. How many of you (and please provide examples :) ) buy something or shop somewhere only because it is such a good deal? Maybe it's something you would like to have, or always wanted, but didn't want to buy until the BF ad 'convinced' you? For example, we are thinking about buying the Gameboy Advance SP at WalMart this BF. Our son hasn't asked for it, and he already has a GB Color and the original GB Advance, but $48.88? That's hard to pass up! Also, last year, Kings Great Buys (electronic and appliance store - not sure how 'local' it is) had a good microwave for $39. I've probably only been in that store a couple of times since it's been open 5 years or more. But once we got there, they had a Christmas tree with envelopes containing $ off cards, ranging from $10 to $500! We picked the $30 off, which was fantastic, but I'm hoping they do the same this year, I'd really like to save $500 on a new HDTV! So, we've added King's to our list of stores to watch. :)
