  1. XM or Sirius radio for the car? If he travels a lot, maybe a GPS system?
  2. I like Fuji cameras. I owned one years ago, 1MP I think, and it took better pictures than a Kodak 2MP I had, the autofocus was much better. Sorry, I don't remember the model numbers, but they were models from several years ago. Just bought the Fuji E510 at Target and will price adjust on BF for $168. It was between that and a Canon A520 for $199. The Fuji is 5MP compared to 4MP on the Canon A520. Also the LCD viewer is 2" rather than 1.8", and dpreview.com states that the Fuji digital zoom one the E510 is one camera where the digital zoom is actually effective without adding excessive noise (that I have seen on every single digital camera I have used). The only thing about the E510 is the zoom is only 3.2X rather than 4X on the Canon A520, but if the digital zoom works as reviewed, that shouldn't be a problem. Besides the Fuji wide angle is wider 28mm rather than 35mm on the Canon A520.
  3. Print quality appears to be the same on either Picturemate, but the Deluxe version does print faster, and you can do some editing on it as well, without the use of a pc, such as cropping, brightness/contrast, and sharpness. The other model does not have that option.
  4. I have to work Mon-Wed then off the rest of the week. Here's hoping Wed will be a short day.
  5. I did! Now I just have to wait for the price adjustment on BF!
  6. I favor the Fuji E510 over the Canon A520, 5MP rather than 4MP on the Canon. 4X optical zoom rather than 3.2X, and in addition, dpreview.com says the Fuji is one camera that they recommend using the digital zoom as well. Any digital zoom I have seen is useless due to the high level of noise added to the image. The Fuji E510 also has a 2" LCD viewfinder rather than 1.8" on the Canon A520. Stevesdigicam.com seemed to like the Fuji pretty well. $168 at Target on BF. :)
  7. I put lights up around the house today, will do the rest after BF shopping (and maybe a nap!), then turn them on that night.
  8. I wasn't expecting BF ads today, but I was disappointed in the ads that were there. I certainly didn't see anything to entice me to shop any earlier than BF.
  9. For the deluxe version (the one with the viewfinder and some limited editing capabilities) 199 seems to be the going price, even through BF. We bought one at Best Buy this week, and although it wasn't mentioned anywhere, a rebate printed out for $40 of ink/paper and a giftcard. Details weren't specified, but I assume that is for one ink cartridge/paper pack retailing at 28.99, and maybe a $10 BB gift card. That was without any other purchase, the $50 rebate also applied with purchase of certain cameras. If you are looking at the lower end Epson Picturemate, 129 seems to be the going rate, but Radio Shack's Black Friday ad shows it for $29 with purchase of a digital camera.

    Holiday Bonus

I got a 12 month membership to the Jelly of the Month club one time. I can't complain at all, but we used to get our bonus a week or two before Christmas. Now it is in January after all the financials are in for the previous year. At least still in time before the bills show up!
  11. My strategy is for me to pick one or two places to be at, and my wife one or two also. Be at your #1 choice early, depending on the store. Best Buy, we're talking 3 hours or earlier (some may say by midnight!) Other places like Staples, that other Office place ( ), around an hour early. Target or Walmart - at least one hour probably 2 hours early. But that is in my town of around 60K people, YMMV. :) After you get what you want at your #1 store, go on down the line to your next store, and hope you are still in time! If you are working (yes, it is WORK), make sure you both have cell phones so you can comminucate. Otherwise, you may both end up at the same store buying the same item! (speaking from experience ) Then meet your wife several hours later for breakfast! For us, it's prioritizing what you want, splitting up to get what you can at your #1 and #2 stores, and rushing to get your top items at that store, after that, luck plays a large part! Good luck to all you newcomers!
  12. hmmm..... 11 posts out of 22 are from men. What was the question? Where are the rest of the men?
  13. I've been to Staples either first or second the last 2 years. As mentioned, it's very organized, with tickets to hand out as soon as you walk in. Between myself or DW, we don't get there any sooner than 30 minutes early, without having any trouble getting what we wanted.
  14. I better get my post count up then!
  15. Is this new? I just noticed it this morning.
  16. DVD Recorder, Napoleaon Dynamite DVD, a new Ipod FM Transmitter and charger, and a HDTV maybe, but then I would also need a DirecTivo HD DVR to go with it!
  17. We went to Target tonight to buy the Memorex DVD player at the regular price of 49.99 and planned to price adjust on BF for 29.99. There were about 50 on the top shelf, but none accessible to consumers. I asked the associate to get one either from the back or from the shelf. As she came back with the Memorex she told me to be sure to watch the ads, they will price match if it goes on sale next week! So there you have it, if there was any debate on whether or not you are 'cheating' by buying early and going back for the price adjustment, Target encourages it!

  19. Nothing but lights, and plenty of them. Icicles around the house, regular strands around trees and bushes. Then two lighted wreaths on the house. We used to set up several deer and a couple of spiral trees, but the front yard at this house is too small for all of that now.
  20. I've heard people complain about Maxtor, but I've never had any trouble with the several Maxtor's I've purchased.
  21. Yes, the Samsung 19" LCD monitor at Staples for 199 is good, Best Buy has the same monitor in their BF ad for 229.
  22. BB definitely has the best BF ad so far, IMO.
  23. Thanks Brad, Rossman, and anonymous finder! <hard to not show my disappointment in the actual ad, tho>
