  1. I waited a bit longer than usual to start this but someone's brilliant contest idea reminded me that I hadn't done it yet. Anyone who's been on here for a spell will know my DD has had a lot of odd requests - besides the mandatory jar of pickles. This year's request is no different: she wants a toilet brush and cleaner for starters. Anyone receive any odd requests yet?
  2. I miss being near Meijer stores!
  3. Along the line of gift cards, what about getting cute gift card holders and filling them with good old cash? Doesn't have to be all paper money either... can you see one of them grabbing $5 worth of pennies? What about lottery tickets?
  4. Lasagna. Any kind of pasta bake for that matter. Yum yum...
  5. There's a few things that do interest me in here, but they lost my business when the card requirement started.
  6. Back where I moved from they charged the Sunday price for the Turkey Day paper ($2). I would not be surprised to see or hear of the cost going higher since so many people go after them and will grab multiples. Side note: always check multiple copies of the paper to make sure you have all of the ads. I know, everyone knows already, but let this be a friendly reminder before the chaos get into full gear.
  7. If you choose to wrap them now don't put any ribbons or bows on them but save that until you're ready to put them under the tree. Do remember to put a to/from tag on them, though, or you'll just end up unwrapping everything just to refresh your memory and ruin the paper you worked hard to keep so nice. Keep them in a tub that will be minimally moved, or better yet somewhere where they won't be moved at all.
  8. I bet the suitemates would especially appreciate that... maybe they don't get homemade food sent to/with them Always good to remember the roomies if you are able to afford it.
  9. WOW... I just got the first confirmed shipping of this year! Someone isn't wasting any time... I'm not giving any hints but I think we'd all love to see what the receiver gets if he/she chooses to open their package right away. Anyone know the record for earliest shipper?
  10. If you choose to go with a flag you could always customize it to lower the chances of being mistaken for an official thing. You're more likely, I think, to run into problems with the balloons because kids always ask for them and lots of stores mark specials and ends of lines with them. Of course you could come up with one really outrageous hat...
  11. I can finally see it now too... I'm liking that Godiva tower.
  12. I haven't looked at the ad yet but it doesn't matter as Menard's isn't out here. It is one store that we really miss!
  13. Because I have been blessed with an incredible streak of good luck I've allowed a few latecomers to join the festivities... This will NOT affect anybody (except me) in any way so don't panic. However, as of right now there will be no more admitting of latecomers. Hectic times are a coming and I need to be able to keep on top of things. There will always be next year...
  14. Gift cards always go over well, especially for eating establishments. Especially for college students
  15. I can always use another elf on standby! Thank you for offering and check your mail.
  16. I have replied
  17. How about best Black Friday obit, seeing how BF as we knew it appears to be 5 and 9 tenths feet under and not likely to ever return?
  18. Sadly it most likely is, or at least highly unlikely to return to the way it once was.
  19. I expect we'll get our tree and put it up as soon as we see live ones for sale. For now I need to figure out how to rearrange the living room so we have room for one.
  20. I know but it's not just the normal turkey day sales, it's full-on BF from what I saw and read.
  21. I just watched a clip on NBC News... looks like Black Friday now starts on Thanksgiving Day at 6am...
  22. Welcome from the accounting firm of ShiShi, ShiShi and ShiShi! I'm Lucky, chief accountant, and as you can tell we have been very busy with the name drawings for this year's exchanges...
  23. Welcome from the accounting firm of ShiShi, ShiShi and ShiShi! My name is Lucky, chief accountant, and we've been very busy with the name drawings for the holiday exchanges as you can probably tell... (Lucky is a larger sitting panda and is wearing my glasses...)
  24. I haven't looked at the ad yet, just reading comments now, but 5pm? Really? Really? (Yeah, I'm at a loss for words.)
