I think so. Most of the stores I go to will still offer the early bird specials later into the day (if not for several days in WM case). Also my WM often still has some of the doorbusters left. They had a whole pile of those portable dvd players left last year.

Luckily it's never been very cold on BF here in NC (watch me eat those words this year) but there are some good ideas here. I think I'd sit in the car too until I saw someone else pulling up then hussle to the door. Not sure if i could do the blakets and all- doesn't that slow you down?

I love to watch the line grow and get all worked into a frenzy and the looks of determination as the employees come to open the door. Good times! But last year i had one of those laptops and i'd see people just arriving at the store eyeballing my buggy while I finished shopping. Envy can be fun to witness too!

This is the first year i'll have company on BF and i'm so excited. I've finally convinced some friends that it's worth the wait While it's nice to get out by myself, I have to admit it'll be fun to have some friends to share it with! It's also the offical kickoff to my Christmas shopping and, after saving all year, it's burning a hole in my pocket!

Not really, I saw a few things to keep in mind just in case the other stores don't have great deals. But I'm really waiting on the "big" store ads!

It might be worth a shot in a 24 hr store like Wal-Mart to casually ask the staff how many do you have of this and that. That way you can figure out where you absolutely HAVE to be when it's time to grab.

I'm not gonna start a fight but if it's in my hands it's mine and I WILL be walking out of that store with it!

I've never been to a BF store that passed out free goodies I guess the stores in my area are too cheap to even spring for a donut or coffee.

What do you guys think of limits on BF items like the laptops, etc? The reason I ask is because it kinda stinks to need 2 of an item that is limited to 1 pp, etc. but then you don't want one person snatching the whole stock. So limits...Good idea or no?

As long as they understand that getting my stuff is my first priority and can accept that I may not be able to get what they want, I don't really mind. Then too it would depend on how big their list was.

EEK! This is a toughie- and having been in the middle of the line and ended up last in because of all the pushing, etc, I feel your pain. Last year I was second and kinda "hugged the door" so that's how I was in so soon. Other than a not-so-polite "EXCUSE you!" I'm not sure what you can do. Maybe you should get one of those real loud honking cans...it might surprise them enough to get you in the door ahead of 'em!

Last year those of us at the head of the line stuck together and fended the "cutters" off. I really think that more stores should do tickets for the hot items. My advice is to make friends with the people you're in line with, they don't want to be cut in front of any more than you do, and stick together. That way if you have a car load of people swearing they were in line first this year, you'll have backup. Get loud! But the name tag thingy might be worth a shot too!

I rarely know to whom I'll give what, I just know I have x amount of people to get for- with all the craziness on BF who can keep track?

My kids have one, I've never had a probelm with one getting hurt but we have to be careful because they tend to get braver the more they use it. The one thing we forbid is flips. I think with supervision, they're safe. WM did have them during BF a couple years ago, not sure about last year but I think they'll be on sale for Christmas for sure.

There is a rumor that WM will be selling Pentium M laptops for $299 on BF. Can someone in the know tell me if that would be a decent laptop?
