  1. The letter says, "The current REDcard points program ends on October 18, 2009. There will be no more points to earn toward 10% off days once the 5% savings begins. But we want to reward you for the points you have already earned with the enclosed 10% off certificate. Bring it in right away to save on an entire day of shopping at Target stores." So..... I dunno what they will do with outstanding points. The third sentence could be interpreted to mean that the enclosed 10% off coupon is their way of wrapping up the program and closing it out. But, I have no idea.
  2. Just got a letter in the mail yesterday from Target explaining that they are no longer going to give out 10% off reward certificates if you are a REdcard holder. Starting Oct 19, they will give 5% discount on ALL your Target purchases made with the redcard-- everyday. Wondered if others got this too?? In the first paragraph, they bolded exclusively for cardholders in the "Kansas City Area". Wondered if this is a trial area or if they just bolded the city names when they sent the letter out nationally. I'm pretty happy about it. I always felt like I had to race around to all the stores on the days I used my 10% reward to take FULL advantage of it... sort of ridiculous, I know. This way, the savings is everyday without any certificate to carry around. (They included a 10% off certificate in the letter they sent me to use one last time. I guess to give customers credit for their existing points according to their explanation.)
  3. When you take them back, they most likely will refund you the full price of the books. Unless those were the only things that you bought and/or customer service looks closely at your receipt. They most likely won't deduct the coupon. You'll be out the Tag books and Target will redeem the $10 coupon to LeapFrog, so you are the only one who will loose... although you will actually MAKE money on the return unless you point out to CS that you used a coupon on the merchandise. I wouldn't worry so much about it. There are lots of different opinions on this forum about how people shop Target, use coupons, etc.... some believe that hiding merchandise is like shoplifting. Others don't like using coupons AT ALL. Some believe that if the coupons go through okay without being questioned, than it's alright. Others think that if the coupon generates an overage, you are a thief and should go to jail. (some even believe that it's okay to switch merchandise and return it to the store... yikes to that!) So, lesson learned I guess is that maybe next time, you just shop the way you shop and as cool a deal as it is, it might be one that ya just have to keep to yourself.
  4. The Oak Park store appeared to be marking outside summer stuff, although the guy who marks at that store is a huge PITA and leaves if even a couple people look interested in what he is doing.... anyway.... He marked some pretty wicker deck boxes to $32.xx down from $130. I picked up 2 of those to use as toy boxes in the house (hopefully) if they end up looking like the picture on the box anyway. There was one left. He scooted away and didn't get started on the aisle with the chairs and grills, but I would imagine that was next for him. So, if you are looking for any of that stuff, that store appeared to just be getting started with the markdowns at about 11 or so this morning. I did see some boxes with grills, but didn't look too closely cause I'm not in the market for those. Lots and lots of back packs, folders, tablets, binders, kids scissors at 75% off too if you need that stuff.
  5. Was at the Stateline Super Target today and saw 4 Dora ride on trikes; 2 or 3 Disney Princess scooter type things and a couple 12" girls bikes (in boxes)--all 75% off; and lots of Tags marked at $34.98. I'm thinking that most everyone who wants them has a Tag... or 5.... by now. I didn't have my 3 yo with me so I had time to check the price on them. They are scanning at $24.98. They had a lot of them, so if you missed the Tag deal, that store appears to still be on the radar to mark them down. (although, they are all on an end cap, so they aren't really that hidden) I picked up one of the 12" bikes for our 3yo, who is always relegated to hand-me-downs on so much from her 2 older sisters. I figured for $9.98, she can have a new bike even if it is only for one summer. But that is about all I left with aside from some groceries.
  6. Not sure... I was in and out very quickly before I picked my kiddos up from school. I wanted to get some goggles and other pool goodies for next year. There were a couple of guys shopping the aisle at Ward Pkwy, and you'd thought they'd never seen clearance before. I swear one of them was about ready to wet his pants over the flippers and swim shoes. LOL... I wanted to say, "buddy, it's just a bunch floaties and life jackets." I mean I understand the excitement, but I guess I've just been around Target clearance toooooo long and I've seen MUCH more exciting deals than some beach balls marked down from $3 to 75 cents. I think I'm getting a bit jaded maybe?? :) I did find this cool scooter (the Pulse Kick-n-Go Xcelerator) for $25 (down from $100)... My 8YO daughter has a major need for speed and loves scooters, so hopefully this was worth the money! http://TSA.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/p4332726reg.jpg
  7. I was at Mission Greatland and Ward Pkwy today at around 2-3ish and both places had pool toys/life jackets/goggles 75% off.
  8. Around here, they've started giving the Dillards cardholders access to the discount a day early, so any real hopes of getting in on any selection of Coach sale bags might possibly require signing up for their credit card. I did it yesterday while I was there only for the reason of shopping the sale a day early. I didn't find any great stuff in the kids dept though. Dillards stopped carrying a lot of the real name brand stuff for kids (Polo and Hilfiger specifically), and I've noticed a lot less stock in general for their kids dept. (at least around here). One store had a ton of Webkins clearanced down to $6.99 and then 40% off of that... made them a little over $4 each. Not bad for my Webkinz crazed child. I did find a neat Coach Hamptons Archive bag (reg. $358 down to $107), but that was at about noon and there wasn't much left to pick from the Coach counter... http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/7/3/8/0/6/5/webimg/295796593_tp.jpg
  9. I have a receipt dated Sept 16 with a ton of cheap school supplies. So, it must have been right around that time. (Most of the schools started here around August 17 give or take a week.)
  10. It's over and done. The MM Juice deal is no longer. Target used to have a major pricing error, but it is now fixed. 10 packs used to ring up at 69 cents for years. It's over now though.
  11. Was out at the Olathe store waaaay out at 151st and I-35 today. They had a TON of Tags marked at 50% off. Don't know if that store is just too out of the way for you, but there are a lot of them, and tomorrow (or Thursday I suppose) is usually toy day! :) HTH!! Good luck!
  12. Is anyone familiar with Ubi Petz? It appears to be a plush animal with a code that can be unlocked online, but I can't figure out if you must have Nintendo to play with it or if it can also be just played with online without the Nintendo. Anyone know anything about these? TIA!!
  13. OMG, what a cute dog for your avatar. :)
  14. Don't know if anyone has tried yet, so I thought I would put it out there... I did a competitors add price match at Super Target today, and it was a very easy experience. I used a Price Chopper (grocery) ad for a 3 day sale on the giant Tropicana OJ. I had a Target mailer coupon for 75 cents off making the giant (89 ou I think) jug for $2.25; (I should also note that it said in quite big letters on the Price Chopper ad (WITH Chopper Shopper card-- which is their loyalty card). Customer service never said anything about that when she matched their price. (YMMV of course and I know price matching is a pretty new thing, so maybe that will change. Just sayin' no probs for me on the loyalty card wording.) Also matched Driscols strawberries in the Hy-Vee grocery ad for $1.48- less the $1 Target mailer coup (48 cents) and the JIF PB for $1.97 (97 cents)-- not necessarily a great price even after the Target $1 coup, but I needed it. So, if anyone was wondering about Target price matching, that was my experience... only 3 items, but she was very friendly about it. I actually stopped at CS BEFORE I shopped to understand how exactly it worked. It's a little bit of a hassle to have to ring through the line and THEN go to CS for the adjustment, but it could be worth it to shop at ONE place plus Target allows manuf. coups + their own coups, so there could be some potentially good deals. I just really don't care for Walmart, so I don't go to that store hardly ever even though they've been matching prices forever and this isn't really a new concept. HTH
  15. I found a ton of these today too. Got lots of the 60 watt 16 pks?? (I think that's the count) for $1.24; a few 100 watts and a few of the energy efficient 2 pks. Very cheap lighting!!
  16. I agree and coupled with the fact that many people who quite possibly never really cared about watching for sales or shopping for markdowned stuff are happy to buy something at 30-50% off (to them, THAT'S a great deal). So, maybe what IS there during the sale/clearance period is purchased before the price gets axed really deeply. Maybe.... maybe not. Just a theory!
  17. Toy clearance should be interesting. Seems like many Target stores around here just aren't the same stores... prolly like that with many retailers. I've noticed other sale shopping experiences at some of my favorite stores have very slim pickens compared to their sales last year as well. I suppose there are a lot more shoppers interested in saving and shopping sales. Plus, it seems like stores haven't got inventories as big either. Both those added together make for not much leftover for deep discounts. I always score some really great deals during the Hanna Andersson kids clothing sale, and this year, stuff is so picked through and so much was already sold out after only a few days of their sale (( OT, I know. Just sayin' that it will be interesting to see if the Target toy sale is as big as it's been in the past.
  18. Make sure to check both the cereal aisle and cracker/cookie aisle... even try the candy aisle because they have some multi pack snack pack items that are also included and I saw them in that aisle as well.
  19. Just returned the expired candy at CVS. They were very nice about it. Just gave me cash back and didn't have anything to say about the ECBs.:)
  20. Can anyone tell me what happens if you have to return something that you have earned Extra Care Bucks on? I bought some of the theatre boxed candy the other day and earned the $5 ECB. The $5 ECB printed out for me just fine. My daughter had her b-day party today and we tried one of the boxes and it was rotten. I noticed the expire date was May 13. So I checked some of the other boxes and they too are expired. What happens if I return some of these boxes? Am I still okay to use that printed out ECB?
  21. GOOD to know that you found it to work on cereal too. Now, if those stores would just come out with a killer price on Rice Krispies, which have seemed to go sky high in price recently. It seems like an effortless rebate... kind of weird that you don't need to have UPCs though... just original receipt! I usually don't like rebates and spending time doing them. I'm always afraid I'm going to miss one small thing and go to all that work for nothing, but this seems very easy for the amount of money you will get back!
  22. This is regional, but at Hen House Markets, there is a pretty nice rebate available for the purchase of Keebler, Kelloggs and Sunshine products. I happened to see it in the cracker/cookie aisle, but now that I think about it I wonder if it applies to cereal too??? (I didn't check while I was there.) Anyway, if you buy 5 of their products, you can get a $10 giftcard to Hen House Markets. If you buy 10 products, you can get a $25 giftcard to Hen House Markets. Throughout the aisle, you will also find tear pads for free marshmallows (value of up to $1.99) if you buy Keebler Graham Crackers, also $1 off any kind of bottled H20- 6 pack when you buy crackers. So there are some other offers for some of their crackers in addition to the specific Hen House giftcard. Tonight while I was there, I noticed some great sale prices on their cookies and crackers. (...tomorrow is Wednesday and that means a new grocery ad....but, you might keep your eyes open if you shop that store.) I bought 10 boxes of a variety of crackers (all on sale) for $28.79; got 2 bags of free marshmallows and a 6pack of bottled water for 39 cents (after coupon). Plus, all I have to do... according to the rebate offer... is to mail in my receipt (no UPCs necessary) and I will get a $25 Hen House giftcard. So, that will make my 10 boxes of crackers $3.79. (You have to purchase all items on the same transaction/receipt.) I have to send snacks with all 3 of my kiddos for their school classes, so many of these will go toward that this fall. All the boxes I got don't expire until Jan. of 2010, but you need to watch the expiration dates. Anyway, it says on the rebate form that this is only good in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma, so I hope this at least helps someone from those areas!
  23. Wow, I bought one of those from Target on clearance too.... $7.49 down from $30. I use it for grilled cheese sandwiches... it had both the waffle attachments and grilled cheese attachments (if we are talking about the same one). Mine was in the box though. I have realized that you cannot plug the thing in until the stuff is in the maker and ready to go. There is no on/off switch and once you plug it in, that baby heats up FAST. Kind of weird. The first couple times I used it, I plugged it in, but realized how hot it got, so now I don't plug it in til the food is ready to cook. So sorry for your horrible experience. Thanks for posting though. I will watch mine closely. I've used it several times. Sounds like it could be a fire hazard!
  24. Well it's a good thing I'm not 'worrying' :) My point (that I think you missed) is that Leapster has changed the TYPES of things that the unit does. The early leapsters were just handheld mode; then they came out with the ones that could also play on the TV (lmax); then I believe that there is now something called the Didj that allows some kind of computer interaction. The WORST case situation (as I said) would be that they would decide that they would change the software that would play on the unit. But, since you're in the know about the marketing plans of Leap Frog, it's all good.
